Xing Baohua returned to the shop and asked Xu Shuai and Liu Quan to go to the warehouse to get the materials.
Because there was so much stuff, the two of them made three trips using a tricycle. There were two copper plates, two aluminum plates, and two aluminum alloy plates.
These things need to be packed separately, otherwise they might burst the tricycle tires.
They also hauled out welding torches and other miscellaneous tools. It took them a whole day to move them all.
The next day, Xing Baohua didn't get the factory director to call him for a heart-to-heart talk, but instead, Liu Haibo and others came to see him.
Upon hearing the sound of the motorcycle, Xing Baohua went out to greet it. The motorcycle had already stopped as soon as he reached the door.
Sun Changjie sat on the sidecar carrying a large box. Liu Haibo rode a bicycle with a green canvas military bag slung across his body. Behind him, Zhang Taoming carried a fish-scale bag.
This scene left Xing Baohua speechless. What was the purpose of bringing so many things?
Shout behind the door to call Xu Shuai and Liu Quan over to help receive the goods.
Xing Baohua first took the box from Sun Changjie. Upon closer inspection, he saw that the outer packaging depicted a monitor.
He glanced at Sun Changjie, and the other person nodded slightly, as if to say, "You figured it out."
Then Liu Haibo said, "Xing Baohua, I've brought you something new this time. Let's see what you can do. If you can pull it off, I guarantee you'll be a millionaire within a year."
Xing Baohua thought to himself, "Just one order from you and I'm a millionaire, and I still need a year. If it takes a year, I'll have to add a zero to that."
"What is this?" Let's pretend we don't know for now and see how it goes.
"You'll see in a moment." With that, she went inside first, not letting Xu Shuai and Liu Quan help her carry the things. As if afraid of damaging them, she insisted on carrying them herself.
Xing Baohua placed the monitor case on the workbench and asked, "What's going on, buddy?"
"Just open it and you'll see," Liu Haibo said.
Xing Baohua first opened the box and found a monitor inside. There wasn't much to see there, so he set it aside and went to look at what was in the fish-scale bag. He touched it and felt it was something like a circuit board. He took one out to examine it; it was quite heavy.
Upon confirming that it was indeed a computer motherboard, he said to Liu Haibo, "Next time, don't use fish-scale bags to pack it; this thing is very fragile. It's best to use foam packaging. It's a little extra work, but it's not worth the trouble if it gets damaged."
"That's how it is when you can't get here. There are only a dozen or so in this bag. Pick which ones are usable?" These words made Xing Baohua feel as if the motherboard had jumped out of a garbage dump.
Xing Baohua then took out two more and asked, "Where did you get them? You can't tell just by looking at them! Why only the motherboard? Where are the other parts?"
“Why don’t we put a monitor on the table? You can use one to test it. If it works, we can sell it,” Liu Haibo said.
“You make it sound so simple, but there are too many things missing. I don’t even have the equipment to test the motherboard, just a multimeter. You can’t test every single component! Look at this board, it doesn’t even have a CPU.” Xing Baohua said, looking at a motherboard.
“Didn’t you say you could build it?” Liu Haibo said.
Hearing this, Xing Baohua wanted to curse him in her heart.
He sighed and replied to Liu Haibo, "I didn't say that, I said assembly. But you can only assemble it if all the parts are there. Let me explain it to you like this: it's like a car. If you give me all the parts, I can assemble a car for you."
Catching his breath, he continued, "So, all the parts for your computer are here, and I can assemble it for you. These motherboards are probably all faulty, and I don't have the ability to test them one by one right now."
Xing Baohua kept this in mind. Actually, a multimeter could probably also detect whether a motherboard was good or bad.
Once you understand the motherboard's circuit diagram, you can use a multimeter and the process of elimination to test it step by step.
Visually inspect the motherboard, mainly looking for burnt components. As for desoldering, that can also be checked, but you'll have to search bit by bit.
Upon hearing Xing Baohua's words, Liu Haibo turned to Zhang Taoming and said, "Didn't you take a good look when you were picking them out?"
"How would I know anything about these things? I just picked the biggest one. I only heard from them that it's a computer motherboard. Usually, parts like this are very expensive to buy even after repairs," Zhang Taoming said.
"Well, these junk items were probably bought by weight," Xing Baohua thought to himself.
So I casually asked, "How much did you buy it for per pound?"
"Three yuan and eighty cents," Zhang Taoming replied directly.
Well, Xing Baohua was right after all.
He shook his head helplessly and said, "This thing looks big, but it's not actually worth much. The valuable part is the CPU. I'll find one for you later."
As he spoke, he found a circuit board with a CPU and pointed it out to them.
He continued, "Remember, we need both big and small items, anything from the computer. The smaller the item, the more valuable it is. Where did you buy it? If it's nearby, I can help you take a look."
"It came from the south. Zhang Taoming personally took the train there to gather everything you wanted and brought some of these back with him. Okay, you can keep these here. If you have time, you can fix them. If not, just leave them here and I'll come and get them when I have time."
He left as he spoke, but the man had already seen the materials in the room—copper coins, trumpets, and the like—which were the goods they had prepared for him. The materials were genuine and the money hadn't been wasted.
It wasn't a waste of money; it was just that Xing Baohua didn't spend any money.
After the group of rich kids left, Xing Baohua chuckled and squatted down to examine the motherboard piece by piece.
The components inside the motherboard are things he couldn't get his hands on even if he wanted to. It might seem like junk, but it depends on who's using it.
It's a pity there are so few of them; otherwise, some of the golden-yellow contact points, like the gold fingers on memory modules, contain gold and can be refined into gold. Not to mention the contacts inside the CPU.
