Chapter 553 You're fooling me, I'm fooling you!

Xing Baohua picked up the camera and examined the square, broken thing. There was a very small lens in the middle, and it wasn't manually adjustable for focus.

Pressing the top button will bring up a flashlight, and a hot shoe is also provided in the middle.

The lack of a handle makes it easier to slip out of your hand if your palms are a little sweaty.

There was a slot on the side, but Xing Baohua didn't know what it was for for the time being.

I squinted and looked out through the small window; thankfully, the viewfinder was a little clearer.

I tried pressing the shutter button, but nothing happened.

Xing Baohua put it down and asked, "Tell me the main data of this thing."

"This camera is tentatively named Nikon DS-0076, with a resolution of 100,000 pixels, automatic 3x zoom, and color data..."

While the technicians were reciting the data, Xing Baohua's expression was rather grim. Putting aside the issue of how much money had been invested, the results were far from what he had imagined.

100,000 pixels. If he remembers correctly, the first truly digital camera appeared this year, and it seems to have 400,000 pixels.

I forgot who manufactured it, but that's easy to find out; it won't be on the market for long.

Although that camera did not sell well, there were many factors contributing to the lack of widespread adoption of electronic devices.

In short, neither rice nor Nikon was the first to try something new.

Even though the two companies merged and hastily produced this shoddy contraption, Xing Baohua didn't want to embarrass himself for the sake of his first truly meaningful camera.

What's the point of building it? Just for fame?

After the explanation, Xing Baohua understood what the card slot on this camera was for; it actually used a 3.5-inch floppy disk as a memory card.

It is powered by four AA batteries. That's why the battery compartment is so large, resulting in its overall square shape.

Each photo shows a size of 100KB to 130KB. A 3.5-inch floppy disk can hold 10-13 photos, after which you can simply replace the floppy disk.

Four AA batteries can power 21 floppy disks.

Xing Baohua took out a blank floppy disk from the drawer, opened the battery cover, and found that there were no batteries. He looked at the two technicians speechlessly and made a phone call to ask them to find some AA batteries.

He then sat back down at his desk, turned on his computer, and asked, "Where's the camera cable?"

Xing Baohua wanted to install the driver in advance, but the technician told him, "If you have a floppy disk, you don't need a data cable; just use the floppy drive to read it."

Xing Baohua was speechless for a moment. This was indeed much more convenient, but Xing Baohua always felt that something was wrong. A few minutes later, Xie Yingying brought over a pack of batteries.

Xing Baohua stopped Xie Yingying from leaving. He installed the batteries, had Xie Yingying stand there, and took a few photos of her.

Although Xie Yingying was beautiful, she was caught off guard and looked completely bewildered when Xing Baohua snapped several photos of her in quick succession. Before long, she became a little shy.

Xing Baohua took out a floppy disk, connected it to the floppy drive on the laptop, and began reading.

Xie Yingying walked behind Xing Baohua, wanting to see how good Xing Baohua's skills were and whether he had taken any bad photos.

It can read and display the files on the floppy disk, but it can't open them.

Xing Baohua's laptop contains an image decoder he developed, which can adapt to two image formats.

Looking completely bewildered, he asked the technician, "What is this image format? Does it require a separate image decoder?"

When Xing Baohua asked this question, a technician replied, "Yes, there is an image decoder on this CD. Just install it, but the program is a bit large and needs to be used with the CD to read files from the floppy drive."

After listening to what the employee said, Xing Baohua stared at the person with wide eyes, wondering if they were really his employee.

I really want to slap him!

Xing Baohua was furious. He had sensed something was wrong earlier, and now it was confirmed. The image format—the Japanese really were messing around, using all sorts of image formats. You had to use their decoder to read them properly.

But it's alright, after this experience, Xing Baohua will correct them one by one.

After setting up the image decoder, I started reading the image, but it was a bit slow; I watched as the character's image slowly slid out.

The densely packed pixels are quite heavy, which is due to the heavy sharpness of the pixels inside the camera body. How can a 100,000-pixel camera produce good-looking photos?

The overall photo was rather dark, but the people in it were roughly recognizable. Then, the printer was connected, and Xing Baohua wanted to test the printout.

There is no photo paper available, so A4 paper will have to be used.

Da Mi used Lao Wang's printer technology, modified it to his own printing technology, and claimed that it could print photos.

Now we can test how much a liar can boast. Back then, without digital cameras, he could boast as much as he wanted. Now that we have them, we have to test them to see if they're real or not.

After the print job finished, Xing Baohua wanted to cover his face in embarrassment. It was a smudged mess of various colors all mixed together. Forget about an image being formed; the printer must have leaked ink!

He's here to report on his achievements, but this guy's here to annoy him, isn't he?

When everything goes wrong, even a printer can only print words. As for the technology of color inkjet printing, it involves micro-control, and we still need to strengthen our research in this area.

A printer and a digital camera were things we hadn't been able to develop for many years; the gap in technological capabilities was undeniably enormous.

We can't develop the chip on the ink cartridge ourselves; we can imitate it, but incompatibility issues often arise.

Forget it, I still need to put in the effort to study it!

Xing Baohua waved for them all to leave, but Chen Shuoyue stayed behind and said to Xing Baohua, "President Xing, there won't be any problems on my end, really, let me take a look."

"Forget it, let's do it tomorrow. Go back and get some rest, and we'll talk again tomorrow," Xing Baohua said, shooing the man out as well.
