Xing Baohua also resented Xu Shuai in his heart; stealing someone had caused such a huge mess. Once inside, was it so easy to get out?
Last year, even holding hands was enough to earn you peanuts, but someone like Xu Shuai would have to be shot for three and a half days with a machine gun, and he'd be hanging up like that.
What puzzled Xing Baohua was that if the two were consensual, they wouldn't have ended up in the security office! Who reported them? And how did the informant know Liu Juanjuan was pregnant? This was strange.
Xing Baohua and Liu Quan walked towards the workshop, where there was a bicycle shed. It was specifically for workers to store their bicycles, and Xing Baohua's little motorcycle was also parked there.

"I mentioned it briefly. Liu Juanjuan's family, along with security personnel, cornered them in the woods west of the factory. And it was Liu Juanjuan herself who said she was pregnant. As for other details, I don't know. We'll have to find out more," Liu Quan said.
"Logically speaking, if the security department arrests someone, they should at least let me know!" Xing Baohua said, puzzled.
"I guess they called, but you weren't there. If either of those two were there, they'd be happy to kick you while you're down. My uncle probably got notified and came to discuss it with you, but when he found you weren't there, he left a message and went back," Liu Quan guessed.
"Those two bastards, I'll deal with them sooner or later," Xing Baohua said angrily.
By this time, news of Xu Shuai blocking the road had spread throughout the factory. Xu Shuai's father had already ridden his bicycle toward the fifth workshop.
Xing Baohua hopped on his tuk-tuk with Liu Quan on the back, revved the engine, and sputtered away with a loud bang. A small puff of smoke first came out of the tuk-tuk's rear, followed by a thick cloud of black smoke billowing out.
A strong smell of burning fuel filled the air. Xing Baohua floored the accelerator and sped off. Only when they reached the factory gate did he and Liu Quan get out, push the bike out of the gate, and then he accelerated again.
First, I went to the police station to get some information. I found a police officer and asked him, and that's how I found out what was going on.
Xu Shuai was reported to the police by Liu Juanjuan's family.
Liu Juanjuan's family first went to the factory's security department to report Xu Shuai for abducting women. The factory's security department had a bad impression of Xu Shuai, considering him a notorious troublemaker. Now, being reported, and for a serious crime at that.
Let's look for him in the factory first. We sent someone to Workshop 5 but couldn't find him. Then we heard that someone had seen him and a girl going into the woods.
Actually, this guy didn't do anything much during the day; he just sat down and chatted. It's certainly unpleasant to say he was cornered in the woods by security, but so what if they wanted to arrest him?
Suddenly being cornered and arrested, who wouldn't panic! Liu Juanjuan meant well, wanting to help Xu Shuai get out of trouble. She said she was pregnant with Xu Shuai's child, that she belonged to him, and begged them not to arrest him, saying they were a couple.
Perhaps Liu Juanjuan didn't express herself clearly, and the fact that her family members resented Xu Shuai even more after hearing about the pregnancy only fueled their anger. They verbally abused, scratched, and dug all over Xu Shuai's face.
His cotton short-sleeved shirt was torn to shreds. Perhaps the factory security department wasn't friendly to Xu Shuai to begin with, and simply disposed of him at the xx office.
The security department is simply not going to bother with the announcements anymore.
After learning more about the situation, Xing Baohua asked, "Comrade, I am Xu Shuai's direct superior. We also know that Xu Shuai and Liu Juanjuan are dating. We can't just lock them up because they are dating."
"You can't say that. If their relationship had progressed normally, we would have had to investigate. Your factory provided information about this Xu Shuai; he was previously idle and involved in petty theft. Liu Juanjuan's family accused him of abducting her daughter and causing her pregnancy," the officer replied to Xing Baohua.
Xing Baohua took out a cigarette, offered one to her, and said, "I guess the woman's family looks down on Xu Shuai, this poor guy, which is why they're objecting. We live in a new society now, where men and women can freely choose their partners. The pregnancy is just a result of their youthful ignorance; there's no need to make a big deal out of it. Just give them a little education, right, comrade?"
"It's not up to me to decide. We'll give you the results once the investigation is complete."
"Have you listened to what Liu Juanjuan has to say?" Xing Baohua asked anxiously. Actually, he was worried about Liu Juanjuan. If she said she and Xu Shuai weren't dating, that would be a huge reversal! Xu Shuai could be shot for three and a half days!
Xing Baohua knew Xu Shuai quite well. Although he hadn't talked about the specifics of his relationship with Liu Juanjuan, he believed that Xu Shuai wouldn't be like his ex in his previous life, abandoning his lover after the fact.
If the investigators won't budge, then we need to find someone, pull strings, or talk to Liu Juanjuan to get the details before we can start trying to get Xu Shuai out of jail!

They split into two groups: Liu Quan ran back to the factory to discuss things with his uncle, Director Liu, while Xing Baohua rode his donkey to Liu Haibo's side.
Upon arriving at the destination, Xing Baohua knocked on the door.

"Hello, sister-in-law, is Brother Bo there?" Xing Baohua asked.
"Organizing goods in the backyard? Come in!" he said, peeking out to take a look. Xing Baohua felt a chill run down her spine at the sight; it was like an underground rendezvous.
Upon arriving at the backyard, they saw Liu Haibo and Zhang Taoming sorting through some cassette tapes and stuffing them into boxes.
"Brother Bo," Xing Baohua greeted him.
"Hua Zi is here. Go inside and sit for a while. Tao Zi and I will come over as soon as we're done tidying up," Liu Haibo said.
