After the D-series rice machines were finalized, Xing Baohua held a celebration meeting for the hardware and software teams. The process of configuring the Loongson chip had been incredibly demanding for them.
The software team, in particular, worked in two shifts, with several groups working together to refine their skills.
After a perfect long-term run, the performance exceeded all the indicators, allowing them to execute the ported software.
They're all small-format, good enough as they are. Any more advanced use would probably ruin this machine.
It has its own independent system and software, and is said to be a modified version of UINX, but it is not compatible with various versions of the system, such as exe files.
In this chaotic situation, without unified industry standards, anyone can create their own system and claim their own format.
Therefore, to avoid being targeted, Xing Baohua decided to give up being a conspicuous person and disguise herself by using UINX as a temporary solution.
Even if Microsoft dislikes you, it can only put up with it. After all, it hasn't unified the market yet.
As for chips, there are plenty. IBM, Fairchild, Motorola, and the Japanese have many too. Plus, Xing Baohua has been very high-profile in reorganizing ARM at Da Ying. Isn't it all for chip manufacturing?
To be honest, many chip companies look down on low-end chips like ARM. It's all hype—32-bit! But when they see the transistor count, they laugh. Isn't this just chips they were already making a mess of over a decade ago?
Right now, it can only be used as an embedded chip. You want to use it in a computer? It could beat the 8080 era. I always feel that ARM chips are just a sham.
Intel is increasingly displeased with Xing Baohua, perhaps feeling that he is a future competitor. Although he poses no immediate threat, Intel still wants to give him a warning.
So their regional manager came to China in person to handle business.
The first stop was the headquarters of a certain company in the capital, where a bunch of strategic cooperation agreements were signed. Even more unexpectedly, a small number of high-end chips were allocated to the company for manufacturing high-end devices.
Xing Baohua and his team were celebrating, and so was someone else. They even reported that they had made a major breakthrough in importing high-end electronic components.
A ragtag army can't compare to a regular army, and there's no need to take it too seriously, so Xing Baohua chose to keep a low profile.
But the press conference will still be held every April.
He has already started preparations, and although there are still a few months to go, all departments under his group have begun to prepare.
But before that, we still need to help Xiaotian fulfill his awesome dream.
Originally, introducing his girlfriend to his parents was the first step in their lives, but Xing Baohua's meddling turned it into the last step.
She essentially arranged their wedding, but it was still part of Geng Rui's job, and since the two of them were already together, there was no need for so much fuss. Their jobs required confidentiality, and taking time off wasn't easy.
If things had gone the usual way, who knows when the wedding would have taken place? So Xing Baohua suggested that they just go for it from the start, and Geng Rui agreed after thinking about it.
After that, Xing Baohua tried to arrange a meeting between the two sets of parents. Since Xing Baohua couldn't leave, he arranged for Director Li, the factory manager, to go to Xiaotian's family as the unit leader to talk to them.
This job was far too easy for Director Li.
Geng Rui's workplace also produced one, a specialist in ideological work, who loves to meddle in other people's business. He's not a low-ranking one either, holding two bars and one star, commonly known as "two cents and one coin."
Once the two families brokered the deal, there was no reason for them to disagree. When the two men arrived, local leaders personally accompanied them. What does that signify?
The child in the family has become successful and gained the leader's approval; otherwise, the leader would be too busy to meddle in such matters.
Both families were curious as to why the child hadn't come. Old Factory Manager Li explained that Xiaotian, who was working as the technical director, or chief engineer, was leading his team on an important public relations mission.
We couldn't mention Geng Rui, so we simply said she had a mission and couldn't come back. We'd return once the two of them completed their mission and then we could get married right away.
Xiao Tian's family has been poor farmers for three generations, with a very good family background, but their education level is not very high. I heard that the young man in the family is in charge of a group of public relations.
Is this an attack on a county town? I heard there was a war a few years ago, but there's been no news for the past few years. Why is there another attack?
It's best not to pry into organizational matters.
I don't know why my mind suddenly went blank and I remembered something from ancient times.
I didn't dare ask while I was with my boss, but after I got home, I discussed it with my family and told them what had happened.
In ancient times, when a family with able-bodied men was notified to join the army and prepare to go to the battlefield, they would often quickly buy a maid or marry a girl they were engaged to in advance, so as to leave an heir for the family.
The thought of Xiao Tian leading his troops to attack the county town instantly chilled his mother's joyful heart.
“Don’t cry all the time. Our kid is in military school. He’ll definitely be an officer when he comes out. He must have performed well. How old is he to be leading a regiment? I heard a regiment leads more than a thousand men. Maybe after this battle, he can become a general,” Xiao Tian’s father said, trying to comfort his wife as she silently shed tears.
"I don't care, I just want him to live well. If he has another child, I'll take care of it," said Xiaotian's mother.
“It’s none of your business. He’s a citizen of the country, whether he lives or dies. As a soldier, he has to obey orders. The organization has already made proper arrangements for him, so he has no worries. It’s a pity that it’s still a secret and we don’t know which county we’re going to attack. If he really sacrifices himself, I’ll carry him back on a shoulder pole. If he’s trapped, I’ll carry him food on a shoulder pole. Don’t cry anymore. Quickly call his aunts and uncles to get the bedding ready for his wedding. I’ll go to the village to discuss how to build a new house.”
An old farmer? He hasn't seen much of the world, but he still needs to prepare for the worst. He should ask someone knowledgeable whether he should also hold a funeral. Who was that storyteller on the radio talking about? I think his surname was Zuo. Wasn't he the one who went to the battlefield with a coffin?
