The key is Liu Shengang's attitude during the interrogation. If he talks aggressively or makes some outrageous remarks, he'll likely be out for three to five days.
If they show a good attitude in admitting their mistakes, they can go out tonight.
"Name, age, place of origin..."
Liu Shengang answered truthfully.
"Hey, you're from out of town! What brings you to this remote place?"
"Can I meet with your leader? I have something important to tell him."
"Let me hear your important matter first. If I can't handle it, I'll report it to my superiors."
"I came from the border river, got lost after entering the old forest, and then I arrived..."
Upon questioning, they discovered, wow, there was still one who had escaped the net, and he was still conscious.
He immediately went to report, and soon a high-ranking leader arrived and joined the interrogation.
"You mean the president of Da Mi is here with us?" the senior leader asked again.
“Yes, we were on our way from Manzhouli to participate in an event when we were attacked. We then escaped and swam across the border river,” Liu Shengang said.
After listening, the senior leader walked out of the interrogation room and beckoned to a junior officer, saying, "Go tell Captain Li at the hospital to take good care of that patient. His police equipment is gone. Move him to the officers' room."
"Chief, is it appropriate to not confirm their identities yet?" the officer asked.
"Listen to me, it'll be too late once we confirm their identity. Also, keep a close watch on them, don't let them slip through our fingers."
"yes."
Liu Shengang had already moved to a spare office, where food, water, and cigarettes were provided.
Captain Han led his men northward along the border river on our side of the border, and a message came through the radio he carried with him.
He received a call from headquarters informing him that Xing Baohua had been located in Xishantun, on the western side of the Greater Khingan Mountains in northern Genhe.
Captain Han immediately unfolded the map; this one was different from the civilian version. It showed coordinates, latitude and longitude, as well as altitude.
Once the location is found, the coordinates are checked, and then the coordinates are entered into a satellite instrument to pinpoint the location immediately.
They called in several helicopters, and a group of over thirty people flew over there.
Nighttime, Xishantun.
Most of the men, young and old, went back inside. In those days, the village was still quite backward; there wasn't even a radio, let alone television.
Those who have wives will start rolling around in bed with their wives early on.
Suddenly, they heard a rumbling sound outside. They didn't know what it was. Those houses with electricity turned on their lights, and those without electricity lit candles.
The dogs in the village were barking wildly.
But the roaring noises quickly drowned out the barking dogs.
People came out to look and found that there were many lights flashing in the sky and the wind was very strong.
It's true, the village is too small, and there's nowhere for the helicopter to land for the time being, so they had to rappel people down first, and then find a flat place to guide the helicopter to land.
If there's nowhere to land, send the helicopter back to base.
When the village chief saw Captain Han and the soldiers behind him carrying real weapons, he knew they had come for spies.
Fortunately, they were quick to realize the situation and handed it over to the district government early on.
Captain Han held up a tablet and showed Xing Baohua's photo to the village chief.
Have you seen this person before?
"I've seen them. They came to our village to heal their wounds. They also brought a hunting rifle."
"Where are the people and the guns?"
"The man was handed over to the district police, and the gun was confiscated by the scavengers."
"Thank you, fellow villager. Remember to hand over the gun."
"Of course, of course. I'll hand the gun over to the district later, don't worry."
The helicopters landed one after another on a flat area, and almost everyone in the village came out to see what this huge thing was.
Some people could identify it as a helicopter, a type of aircraft, while others had never seen one before. In any case, it was too dark to see the outline clearly, so they could only imagine what it was.
Genhe District.
It's 11:30 p.m.
The director, who was temporarily relieved, checked the omissions one more time. After finding no problems, he told the others to go back and rest. Liu Shengang was already resting at this time.
Genhe is actually not very big; the distant roaring sound disturbs the sleep of the people.
The director stood in the courtyard, looking at the flashing lights in the distance.
The helicopter did not hover here, but landed on an open area outside the zone.
After assembling the team, Captain Han looked at the neatly lined-up troops, leaving the people in the surveillance helicopter behind. The rest of the team, under Captain Han's command, said: "Turn left and run forward!"
The team sped towards Genhe.
The director also notified the staff on duty, who were already lined up in the courtyard of the institute, waiting.
Twenty minutes later, upon seeing the team leader's badge, I gasped.
The director straightened his posture and jogged up to the person with perfect poise: "Report..."
"At ease, where is he?"
"One is resting in the office, and the other is in the hospital," the director reported.
"Take us to the hospital first," Captain Han ordered.
"I'm sorry, Chief S, but according to procedure, my department needs to verify your identity," the chief said gently.
Captain Han handed his identification to the station chief and asked, "How is the injured person? Is the medical care here adequate?"
"The hospital said he had several broken ribs and some lung infection, which caused a fever. He's already on medication." After reviewing the documents, the director respectfully returned them to Captain Han and explained Xing Baohua's condition.
At one o'clock in the morning, Captain Han saw Xing Baohua lying in a hospital bed, accompanied by the on-duty doctor and the director.
Captain Han called Xing Baohua's name a few times, but there was no response. He turned to the doctor on duty and asked, "Has he been unconscious since he was brought in?"
"Yes."
"What precautions should we take if we relocate now?"
