Chapter 86 Minor Car Accident

It was already evening when we arrived in the provincial capital, and the sky was getting dark.

Xing Baohua and Director Wang got off the train and headed straight for bus number 18. Once on the bus, Xing Baohua realized what was happening and asked, "Director Wang, where are we going?"

“Wenhua East Road, that’s where I live. But my house is small, so you’ll have to find your own place to stay,” Director Wang explained, as if afraid that Xing Baohua would want to stay at his house.

Xing Baohua finally understood the origin of Cultural Road; the entire street was lined with colleges and other cultural institutions.

"Is the cultural market also on this street?" Xing Baohua asked curiously. If it's nearby, he might take some time to go and have a look; maybe he'll find some treasure.

"No, it's in Sili Mountain, now called Hero Mountain. The south side of the mountain is the cultural market, and the north side is where the heroes slept. You can go there to catch grasshoppers at night if you have nothing to do," Director Wang said.

Xing Baohua shuddered. Who doesn't go there at night to catch grasshoppers? Aren't they afraid of scaring people?

Director Wang told Xing Baohua about the history of the old city, and the car soon arrived at the intersection of Shanda Road. After getting off the car, Xing Baohua saw a familiar place.

The last time I came to the provincial computer company, I got off the bus here. It's about a kilometer north to the computer company.

Xing Baohua didn't say anything and followed Director Wang. They hadn't walked three hundred meters east when they arrived at their destination. Director Wang pointed to a place and said to Xing Baohua, "That's my workplace, the Provincial Film Studio, which is also the Provincial Film School. It's not an academic institution; it's a vocational secondary school."

Xing Baohua nodded, and then Director Wang said, "Go west from here, and you'll reach the intersection we just crossed. Beyond that are the Police Academy and the Provincial Sports School, then the Art Academy and the Provincial Acrobatic Troupe, and a little further down is the Provincial Academy of Arts and Crafts. Go there tomorrow and look for a place to live. I'll be waiting for you at the entrance of the Academy of Arts and Crafts at eight o'clock."

"No, Director Wang. It's so late, why don't we have dinner together?" Xing Baohua noticed that Director Wang was impatient and wanted to get home, so she asked hurriedly.

"No, I'm quite tired too and want to rest early. Just walk one stop east, and you'll find the Metallurgical Institute, which is also the Metallurgical Company. They have their own guesthouse; you can stay there." Director Wang said and left.

This is ridiculous! Director Wang is acting all mysterious? Is he trying to avoid me or what?

As I walked east, I wondered if I should call Zhang Xuebao and ask if we could have a meal together.

It feels a bit late. Oh well, there's still time to get together.

Upon arriving at the Metallurgical Institute, Xing Baohua found the Metallurgical Guesthouse. After checking in, he went out for a stroll, partly to find a restaurant to eat at, and partly to wander along Cultural Street, admiring the numerous universities along the street and cultivating his mind.

As I approached the art academy, I heard the sounds of numerous musical instruments. They were practicing; if there were any houses in the area, it would probably be incredibly noisy.

Logically, there should be restaurants or something on both sides, but unfortunately Xing Baohua didn't know that. If you walk a little further ahead, there's a Shifan Road separated from the Normal University by a wall, and there are quite a few individual restaurants there. They're mostly snacks and the like; the real restaurants are further down the road.

It is estimated that Xing Baohua was hit by a car when he was almost at the Academy of Arts and Crafts.

Yes, he rolled twice on the ground before getting up.

Before I was hit, I heard some "ouch, ouch, ouch" sounds. Just as I was about to turn around, I felt a burning sensation in my crotch; a car wheel was wedged between my legs.

Before I could even react, the person was already outside.

He was furious as he got up from the ground; this almost crippled him. He clutched his burning backside, wanting to curse. Then he saw a girl lying on the ground not far away, pinned down by a bicycle.

She was trying to get up.

Xing Baohua swayed over and, out of politeness, helped the person up first.

Before she could even get close, the girl got up, rubbing her leg, and yelled at Xing Baohua, "Are you blind?! Can't you see the car?!"

Xing Baohua's eyes widened in disbelief, completely stunned. He'd seen unreasonable people before, but never one this unreasonable. Who the hell has two eyes in the back of their head to see behind them? It's not like it's a reversing radar!

The girl seemed a little flustered. She quickly picked up her bicycle and said to Xing Baohua, "I hurt my leg. Let's go to the clinic first."

"Hey, don't go! You hit me and you think you're in the right?" Xing Baohua only realized what was happening when the girl got on her bicycle. This girl was trying to get away! She must have said that she was blind just now on purpose.

Just as he was about to reach for the bicycle, his back started to hurt again. His movement slowed down slightly, and the girl rode off on her bike.

With one hand on her waist and the other covering her buttocks, Xing Baohua angrily shouted at the retreating figure, "You just wait!"

"What's going on here!" Xing Baohua shook his head helplessly, losing all interest in continuing his stroll.

That's how this unexpected disaster happened. Limping back to the guesthouse, he asked where the convenience store was, and the clerk told him there was one inside the school.

I bought two pieces of bread and two packs of instant noodles from the school store; that's what I'll eat tonight.

The next morning, Xing Baohua didn't walk to the Academy of Arts and Crafts. He took the No. 18 bus directly; he had seen a bus stop there the night before, and it was only two stops away.

After waiting for a while, Director Wang arrived on his bicycle.

"Come on, I'll show you around." He said, pushing his bicycle forward. Not seeing Xing Baohua follow, he turned back and, noticing Xing Baohua walking a little slower, asked, "What's wrong?"

"I was hit by a car last night."

"What car caused the accident? Have they caught the culprit?"

"The person ran away. They were hit by a bicycle," Xing Baohua said with a sigh.

"A bicycle? Haha, don't be silly. With your size, you think you can get hit by a bicycle? The bicycle is probably fine!"

"You're the one making a scene! I'm just a little taller, and the wheel went right through my crotch from behind, knocking me off and making me roll twice on the ground. And that woman even said I wasn't watching the car. Is there anyone this unreasonable?"
