Chapter 37 Affiliation, damn it! You're just ripping me off.

Secretary Huang shook his head slightly and said, "The deceased Li Zhijun was the principal of the village school. Don't laugh at me, but there was only one school in the surrounding villages, and there were only two privately-employed teachers in total."

“One left, but isn’t there still one left?” Xing Baohua asked.

“That one left the year before last. Oh, no, not that one. He went back to the city,” Secretary Huang hurriedly explained.

Soon the two arrived at several mud-brick houses. Secretary Huang pointed to the houses and said, "These are the classrooms of the village school. They used to be cowsheds. Before the old secretary died, he gritted his teeth and built these classrooms."

"After I became the Party Secretary, I added a few desks and chairs to the school." As he spoke, Party Secretary Huang shook his head slightly.

The two did not enter the classroom, but stood at the classroom door.

There was a tall wooden pole standing in front of the largest classroom, but unfortunately it was completely bare.

Xing Baohua wondered whether he should donate a national flag.

I could hear Secretary Huang's words again: "Back in the production team days, the village had the ability to support the school. After the division of the village into separate units, the village committee's resources became limited. They could only try to maintain the school by relying on the retained funds (a type of fee paid to the state)."

Secretary Huang spoke in a tone of helplessness, which Xing Baohua sympathized with.

These are private schools, supported by the government, but the teachers are not officially employed and do not receive government salaries.

Many private school teachers lived in dire poverty. They persevered in teaching no matter the hardship, as long as they had food to eat; this is admirable. Many teachers died before they even received a chance to become permanent staff members.

After the secretary's explanation, Xing Baohua understood the difficulties Shangguzhuang Primary School was currently facing. The school could persevere, but the teachers could not.

The only teacher and principal has passed away.

Asking the teacher, Xing Baohua knew he didn't have the ability, and besides, he didn't know anyone, so where could he go to fool people?

"I invited you here today mainly to show you around. Ever since you said you wanted to take over the straw rope factory, I've had a plan in mind. What do you think of this?" Secretary Huang said.

"Please speak," Xing Baohua nodded and listened.

"Don't attach the relationship to the village, attach it to the school. I hope the contract fee will be used directly for the school. If it's attached to the village, the little bit of the attachment fee might not be retained, and there will be too many holes."

Upon hearing what Secretary Huang said, Xing Baohua was immediately filled with respect.

“I agree with your opinion. We’ll be affiliated with the school. I assure you, when I start out, the factory will be called Shangguzhuang Primary School Factory. As the factory grows, no matter how big it gets, it will always be the primary school for the factory’s children. It will continue to exist.”

After Xing Baohua finished speaking with great ambition, the Party Secretary said, "Good, good, it's settled then. I'll have someone clear out the straw rope factory later. You see, you've agreed to be affiliated, so the teachers will be the responsibility of your company!"

"Damn it, they tricked me again?" Xing Baohua roared inwardly.
