Chapter 40 A fool wouldn't make money if he could.

Xing Baohua never expected the factory director to be so decisive and ruthless.

It seemed like a reminder to him. Xing Baohua pretended not to care, but in his heart he was cursing, "Old bastard, so wicked."

After Xing Baohua left, Director Li packed his things, grabbed his bag, and went out.

When you arrive at the Municipal Machinery Bureau, tell the secretary that you want to report to Director Hou.

Fortunately, Director Hou wasn't busy at the moment and invited Factory Director Li in.

After the secretary offered cigarettes and tea, she closed the door and left.

After everyone left, Factory Director Li said to Director Hou, "Factory No. 4 has started operations. Did you know about this?"

Director Hou shook his head slightly and said, "I didn't know, but I know now."

"Zhao Shanhai is delaying signing the contract and is trying to pull some tricks. Is he trying to revive Factory No. 4?" Director Li said softly to Director Hou while sitting on the sofa and smoking.

"The situation without Factory No. 4 is beyond saving. This is his last struggle," Director Hou replied casually.

“No matter how much he struggles, I don’t want to see any more changes. Director Hou, please talk to him again and sell those two production lines to me,” Factory Director Li said.

Director Hou looked at Factory Director Li with a puzzled expression and asked, "Are you trying to cut off his lineage?"

“Anyway, he doesn’t need it now. I’m going to renovate my fifth workshop to produce some small items,” said Factory Director Li.

"You, you can be ruthless than anyone else when you're in a bad mood. You always plan ahead and are always thinking about how to trap people," Director Hou said.

"There's nothing I can do, it's an old problem. What can I do? I'm a staff officer by training. I'm quite the expert at outmaneuvering the American devils on the Korean battlefield." After saying that, Director Li laughed heartily.

Director Hou chuckled twice and then said, "Let's wait a while longer and let him taste the sweetness. Zhao Shanhai's inventory is limited. Once he runs out of inventory, he'll know that he can't move an inch."

Director Li agreed. Without the bureau's approval, Zhao Shanhai wouldn't get anything. The factory's various miscellaneous expenses were enough to give him a headache.

The raw material shortage alone is a major obstacle for them, not to mention the financial constraints. How can they pay wages without money?

Next, Director Li will cut off his water supply. They've already chosen a new location for him; he has no choice but to move.

Xing Baohua took the purchase order from the warehouse to the purchasing department head's office. Actually, according to procedure, he didn't need to come; the warehouse would give the purchasing department the list of items to be purchased. The purchasing department would then make the purchases in a unified manner within a certain timeframe.

Xing Baohua urgently needs the materials, but given the usual procurement process, it will take another month or even longer.

The second purpose was to visit Shen Jie, a big shot, and establish a good relationship so that it would be easier to talk to him if needed, and he might even be able to point out some opportunities.

"Section Chief Shen, I'm here." Xing Baohua knocked on the door and went in. He saw Shen Jie hunched over his desk writing something and asked.

"Oh, Xiao Xing! You're here. What's up?" Shen Jie looked up and saw the person who had come over, and asked.

"It's nothing serious. Oh, I need your signature for this. I need it urgently." Xing Baohua said as he walked over and placed the form on his desk.

Shen Jie picked it up and examined it carefully. He turned to Xing Baohua and asked, "Are you sure you need these things?"

Xing Baohua knew at a glance that he wasn't someone to be fooled. He was a seasoned veteran, and he knew exactly what Xing Baohua was thinking. This was the purchasing department! There were only two types of people who could become the head of the department. The first type was someone with exceptional business skills who could get things that Xing Baohua couldn't get. That's where connections came in.

The second type is the leader's cronies. The finance and purchasing departments are essentially the leader's money bags. How can they manage without their own people?

Section Chief Shen Jie belongs to the first type of person; he has a ruthless eye. As for whether he's a confidant of the factory director, is there even a need to say more?

Shen Jie glanced at Xing Baohua a few more times and said, "I've approved the order for you and will purchase it for you as soon as possible. Let me make this clear from the start: if you can't produce what the factory manager wants, I'll hold you accountable."

After speaking, he tossed the form onto the table, picked up a pen, and wrote "approved" on it. The small black dot after "approved" meant "to do it wholeheartedly." This was a special method used by the leader; those unfamiliar with the field might not know that leaders often have a subtle handwriting style for handling matters.

There are three ways to write "agree": horizontally, vertically, etc. If it looks like "agree" is written horizontally but there's no punctuation after it, then the matter is on hold, and we'll have to wait.

Those who are capable of getting things done simply write "agree" vertically. This means following the normal procedural steps.

If it's just a simple "read" (阅), then what happens when the supervisor finds out? Since no opinion was given, it's just a matter of waiting for the supervisor's response. This is also a tactic to avoid taking on responsibility or handling the matter.

Xing Baohua was relieved to see the small black dots following behind. He was very polite when he left, even leaving a pack of cigarettes.

As for Shen Jie's suggestion of settling accounts later, he didn't care. The product would definitely be made; once it was made, what was the point of settling accounts?

Back at the shop, Xing Baohua and Liu Quan began assembling the components and materials. They organized and categorized the existing components and materials.

Xu Shuai had nothing to do and couldn't offer any help, so he went out for a stroll.

When I came back in the afternoon, I saw that Xu Shuai's lips were red and he looked very unnatural.

Xing Baohua wondered to himself which old woman had kissed him with lipstick all over her mouth, but then said he was overthinking it.

He knew Xu Shuai very well. Xu Shuai couldn't keep things to himself. If he got a girlfriend, he would definitely make a big fuss about it immediately and be as happy as a child.

Xing Baohua used clay to create the calculator's casing. Detailed data was also recorded. The lines, in particular, were meticulously refined, and the most laborious 3D drawing technique was employed.
