Chapter 19 When I'm Extremely Hungry 1

Grandma Zhang's condition is much more serious than Su Dahua's. She didn't react at all even after drinking a glass of water.

Li Jinfeng took some effort to help the man lie down on the kang.

He also found an old blanket that had turned yellow from washing the bed in a broken cabinet in Grandma Zhang's room and covered her with it.

He then took out two boiled eggs from the space using the cloth bag as a cover.

Li Jinfeng held the egg tightly in her hand, walked out of Grandma Zhang's room and went to the kitchen.

Zhang Xiaobao was cooking porridge at the moment. He only put a handful of millet in a large pot of water.

The porridge you cook will be a big pot full and can be eaten for several days.

But each time I could only drink enough water, and I still had no strength to work. However, this was much better than gnawing on tree roots, bark, and rotten vegetable leaves before.

Li Jinfeng took a look at Zhang's kitchen. Apart from an earthen stove with some firewood piled on the stove, the whole kitchen was terribly bare.

Not to mention oil, there wasn't even a trace of salt. Instead, in the corner of the wall, there were some tree roots dug from the ground.

Li Jinfeng could almost imagine how hard the Zhang family's daily life was.

And the two handfuls of yellow rice from Li Jinfeng were a great gift to Zhang Xiaobao.

Seeing Li Jinfeng, Zhang Xiaobao no longer harbored the same hostility as before. On the contrary, he looked at Li Jinfeng with gratitude and trepidation, "Sister Jinfeng, the porridge... the porridge isn't ready yet, my grandma..."

"Your grandma is fine. I fed her a bowl of water. She should wake up in a while. Xiaobao, come here." Li Jinfeng stretched out her hand to Zhang Xiaobao.

Zhang Xiaobao walked up without any doubt.

"Put your hands out!" Li Jinfeng said.

Zhang Xiaobao did as he was told, and the next moment, there was a cold boiled egg lying in the palm of his hand.

He was stunned, looking at Li Jinfeng with eyes bigger than copper bells.

But when facing the egg, he still swallowed subconsciously.

"Sister Jinfeng..." Zhang Xiaobao opened his mouth.

"Shh! Don't tell anyone. After you finish eating, throw the shells into the stove and burn them." Li Jinfeng said in a low voice.

"But..." Zhang Xiaobao looked at Li Jinfeng. Although he kept swallowing his saliva, he still did not forget to ask Li Jinfeng, "Sister Jinfeng, have you eaten?"

Li Jinfeng paused. This was the second egg she had given out today, but both Su Dahua and Zhang Xiaobao subconsciously asked her if she had eaten it.

Instead of grabbing it and stuffing it into your mouth greedily.

Li Jinfeng felt a lot of comfort in her heart, and the smile on her lips instantly became brighter.

"Eat it. I won't starve myself anyway," said Li Jinfeng.

After getting the answer, Zhang Xiaobao couldn't help himself any longer and cracked the egg.

The eggshells were carefully collected and thrown into the stove according to Li Jinfeng's instructions.

The peeled egg was whiter than paper. Zhang Xiaobao swallowed his saliva and reached out to split the egg into two halves, but was stopped by Li Jinfeng.

"I have an egg left for your grandma. Eat it yourself. After you finish it, you will have the strength to work."

Zhang Xiaobao's eyes were red again. After he finished eating the egg, he was already crying and sobbing.

Li Jinfeng felt bad when she saw the skinny man in front of her. She reached out and patted Zhang Xiaobao on the shoulder. "You are a man. Be strong. Grandma Zhang is still relying on you to take care of her!"

This sentence worked. Zhang Xiaobao wiped his tears hard, and his whole face turned red.

"Sister, please stay for dinner today!"
