Chapter 14: The Road to Success

There are all kinds of bottles, a dazzling array, almost from first to fourth grade, and there are dozens of pills of each grade.

An Ran opened a few more bottles, each of which contained five top-grade pills. An Ran looked at the pills carefully and didn't even notice when Xiao Ai came to her.

An Ran looked at these pills and remembered the pills her brother bought from the pill shop outside. She was shocked by the layout that was similar to that of a modern Chinese medicine clinic at the time. She didn't know what kind of pills An Yu bought, but there were so many pills here, she could find some for An Yu to take to the academy.

Thinking of this, An Ran became excited.

Do it when you think of it!

An Ran excitedly found a dozen commonly used medicinal pills, ready to give An Yu two of each. Then, she made a sad discovery... She didn't have a bottle!

Xiao Ai sat quietly on the stool, her hands on her chin, admiring An Ran's expression as it changed from surprise to shock and then excitement, and finally, for some reason, she became listless. She couldn't help but ask An Ran curiously, "Sister, what's wrong?"

An Ran said to Xiao Ai with some disinterest, "Alas... I wanted to bring some pills for my brother, but I don't have bottles to put them in..."

Xiao Ai blinked her big eyes and looked at An Ran in confusion. She asked, "Sister, aren't those boxes behind the shelf filled with empty bottles?"

An Ran was overjoyed and ran over to give Xiao Ai a kiss on her rosy little face. Then she happily ran to the box behind the bookshelf to look for the bottle.

An Ran muttered to herself as she searched for a bottle: "Well, I need to put the first-grade Qi-restoring Pill in it, and the second-grade Qi-blood Pill... well... I'll put that in too... The third-grade one... doesn't seem to be in circulation much... forget it then..."

Xiao Ai saw An Ran talking to herself and completely ignoring her, so she immediately went back to the bamboo house to watch Xiao Huo out of boredom.

After An Ran finished packing the pills, a long time had passed. An Ran looked at the dozen or so bottles of pills she was going to give to An Yu, and she couldn't help but frowned. Without even looking up, she called out, "Xiao Ai, come and help me get the bottles."

No one responded.

Anran looked up and saw that Xiao Ai was no longer in the alchemy room.

"Where did they go? They ran so fast!" An Ran complained softly, then walked out of the alchemy room.

Just as I walked out of the alchemy room and arrived at the door of the bamboo house, I heard Xiao Ai's somewhat bored voice coming from inside the bamboo house: "Xiao Huo, why haven't you woken up yet? You will become stupid if you sleep too much. Wake up early and play with me..."

An Ran chuckled: "She's still a child after all." But when she thought about Xiao Ai's life in the past few years, she felt a little guilty and distressed. Living in this space day after day for several years, although it is beautiful, it will be boring to stay there all the time... She will have to let Xiao Ai come out and see more often in the future.

An Ran walked into the room and saw Xiao Ai sitting at the head of the bed, watching Xiao Huo talking to himself. She hugged Xiao Ai with some heartache, and then said to Xiao Ai, "After your brother leaves, I'll go to practice and let you go out to play, okay?"

Hearing this, Xiao Ai raised her head with joy and asked An Ran, "Sister, can I really go out and play?"

An Ran smiled and nodded, pinched Xiao Ai's face, and said, "Really, but Xiao Ai, don't play too crazy, or you'll get caught by the bad guys."

Xiao Ai smiled and nodded happily, then said to Xiao Huo with a beaming expression, "Xiao Huo, sister promised me to go out and play, so I'll take you out to play too, okay?"

After saying that, he didn't care whether Xiaohuo could hear him or not, and continued to say a lot of boastful words to Xiaohuo.

An Ran looked at Xiao Ai's happy expression and felt that she had done nothing wrong this time, and then she left the space.

The next day, after An Ran finished practicing with An Yu, she said goodbye to An Yu and went to the market alone.

Although An Yu strongly disagreed, he could not resist An Ran's big, expressive eyes, and finally, he had no choice but to agree. He had to order the guards to protect An Ran, and repeatedly told An Ran to pay attention to safety and not to leave the guards far away.

After An Ran arrived at the market, she went straight to the pharmacy.

When the clerk in the pharmacy saw An Ran's attire and the guards following her, he knew she was wealthy. He looked at her with a broad smile and said to her, "Miss, what kind of elixir would you like?"

An Ran pondered for a moment, thinking this was a good opportunity to learn about the elixir industry. Then, he said to the clerk, "I want some first-grade, second-grade, and third-grade elixirs. I wonder what you have here?"

When the guy heard An Ran say this, he immediately felt that a big buyer had come, and the smile on his face became even wider.

The clerk quickly asked An Ran to come closer and pointed to the cabinet behind him. "We have most of the first-grade elixirs here, many of which are commonly used. The prices range from fifty to three hundred gold coins. As for the second-grade elixirs, there are only a few commonly used ones, and the prices are also between five hundred and one thousand gold coins. As for the other third-grade elixirs, Xinghu City doesn't have them. You'll have to go to a bigger city to look."

An Ran's heart was filled with emotion. Pills were so expensive! And there weren't even any third-grade pills, so fourth-grade pills were even rarer!

An Ran didn't care what the waiter was asking at this moment. She always thought that her master had left her so many pills, and she thought that pills were very cheap and common. She didn't expect there were so many. An Ran suddenly felt that she had to go back and ask Xiao Ai about the issue of alchemy. This was a smooth road to making a fortune!

An Ran ignored the surprised and resentful look of the clerk behind her, walked out of the shop directly, returned home, and without waiting to finish packing, she went straight into the space and went to find Xiao Ai.

As expected, Xiao Ai stayed in the bamboo house watching Xiao Huo play. An Ran was worried that it would disturb Xiao Huo's practice, so she called Xiao Ai to come out to the inner room.

An Ran didn't even have the patience to wait for Xiao Ai to completely walk out of the door, and couldn't wait to ask directly: "Can I become an alchemy master?"

Xiao Ai looked at An Ran speechlessly. She thought An Ran had called her out for something, but it turned out to be just such a trivial matter. Xiao Ai's big watery eyes were full of accusations, and she glared at An Ran dissatisfiedly: "With wood and fire talents, you can become an alchemist. Sister, you can do it. You called me out just for this?"

An Ran also felt that she had gone too far. She smiled awkwardly and said to Xiao Ai a little embarrassedly: "I am just too excited..."

Xiao Ai also knew her sister's temper. She glared at her and said, "There is an alchemy book left by the old master in the alchemy room." Then she ran to the alchemy room impatiently.

Before An Ran entered the alchemy room, Xiao Ai came running out. Seeing An Ran, she put a tattered book in her hand into An Ran's arms and wanted to run to the bamboo house.
