After getting Mo Yu's affirmative answer, Xu Errong took An Ran into the house.
An Ran was still shocked by Mo Yu's unique way of caring for the herbs. She had never imagined that Mo Yu would just root himself in the soil, close his eyes and rest, and then...
That’s all!
Xu Errong looked at An Ran, who was so shocked that she was stunned, and couldn't help but laugh!
He happily explained to An Ran, "Teacher Mo Yu is a tree spirit, a plant-based pet. So, all he has to do is dig his roots deep into the soil and communicate with the rhizomes of the herbs, passing nutrients directly from his body through the rhizomes to the herbs. That's why the herbs that Teacher Mo Yu cares for are always the most vibrant!"
An Ran nodded, not quite understanding, with a silly look on her face. Seeing this, Xu Errong smiled even more happily.
When they walked into the house, they saw Venerable Mo Shang half-lying on the chair and sleeping, not caring about his image at all. An Ran was very upset. If someone saw him like this, who would believe that he was the reclusive master Venerable Mo Shang!
An Ran couldn't help but cough lightly a few times. Seeing that Venerable Mo Shang had no reaction, she coughed heavily a few more times. This time, Venerable Mo Shang finally responded. He stretched out a hand, waved it in front of him a few times, muttered something, and then fell asleep again!
"Brother, does Master usually like to sleep in the hall? It's so... unpresentable." An Ran looked up at the sky in silence, and could only ask Xu Errong. She was at her wit's end...
Xu Errong looked at his junior sister who looked helpless, and smiled awkwardly. He said uncertainly, "Haha, well, Master isn't usually like this. I don't know what happened today... Maybe he waited for us for too long, and then... fell asleep!"
An Ran looked at Xu Errong speechlessly. Could he come up with such an excuse?!
Looking at the carefree and utterly ungraceful Venerable Mo Shang sleeping, the corners of her mouth couldn't help but twitch. She was a little curious why such a crazy old man like Venerable Mo Shang would take in a quiet and silent pet like Mo Yu?
"Well... okay, Senior Brother, let's go to the alchemy room to make the elixir."
Xu Errong pretended to be calm and took An Ran around Venerable Mo Shang and walked into the alchemy room behind him.
An Ran followed Xu Errong to the back of the house and went straight out of the building. On a flat ground behind the house, there were several small houses with closed doors. They were a certain distance away from the tall building, but not very far.
Each room was independent of the others, and the outside was wrapped in what seemed to be a special barrier. It shone brightly in the sunlight, which was very beautiful. However, the peaceful and protective feeling emanating from this barrier also made people feel calm...
"Let's go. You won't be disturbed while refining the elixir here. You can refine the elixir as you wish. This barrier will protect you." Xu Errong said lightly.
Xu Errong took out a wooden token the size of a baby's palm from his arms and handed it to An Ran. He smiled faintly and said, "Here, Junior Sister, no one is using the alchemy room next to me. This is the token, the key to open the barrier!"
An Ran raised her eyebrows. She didn't expect that this barrier could be opened with this wooden sign. It seems that not only are there many types of barriers, but the ways to open them are also really different!
She reached out to take the wooden sign, and watched how Xu Errong opened the door of the barrier. She also opened the door of her own alchemy room and entered the house.
The layout of the room was as simple as imagined, with only a furnace and a few shelves filled with herbs and pill bottles!
Since it was her first time to refine pills in the academy, Mo Yu did not prepare any high-level medicinal materials. He only had some common medicinal materials for refining some ordinary first-grade pills!
Looking at the simple and clear arrangement, An Ran raised her eyebrows. She walked out of the alchemy room and into the hall, where she found that Venerable Mo Shang was still fast asleep. The corners of An Ran's mouth twitched involuntarily. She quickened her pace and looked at Mo Yu, who had just finished taking care of the herbs and was about to go back. She hurried to meet him!
"Teacher Mo Yu, I have already mastered the first-grade elixir recipes prepared in the alchemy room. I hope to be able to refine second-grade elixirs!" An Ran said lightly.
"Yeah." Mo Yu looked up, a hint of surprise appeared in his calm eyes, and then he continued to be calm. He lowered his eyes, hiding the thoughts in his heart.
Is that his reaction? An Ran had thought he would agree to her going to collect herbs, because Mo Yu was the manager here, and he was a tree spirit, and most of the wood plants were his descendants.
Before coming, Xu Errong specifically reminded her that she must get Mo Yu's consent before picking herbs, and that the herbs picked by Mo Yu must be more active than those picked by herself!
But... Mo Yu's reaction, that almost inaudible "hmm," made An Ran unsure whether he had heard her or not, and if he had heard, did that mean he agreed or disagreed...
Just when An Ran was frowning and wondering whether to say it again, she saw Mo Yu pulling out all the roots that were still in the herb garden, taking with him bits of herbs, almost all of which were the herbs listed in the recipes for some common second-grade elixirs!
Mo Yu uprooted these herbs, but he didn't damage their rhizomes at all. The roots were intact, still clinging to some fresh soil! Alchemists all knew how important intact roots were to the efficacy of an herb!
Mo Yu's arm turned into a branch. He stretched out his hand and grasped all the herbs held by their roots. He separated a branch, skillfully wrapped it around the pile of herbs, and handed it to An Ran.
An Ran stared at Mo Yu's movements in amazement. This guy was simply too simple and crude! She had never expected Mo Yu's method of picking herbs to be so convenient and quick. It was simply unbearable to watch!
Thinking back to when she was picking herbs, she almost had to feel the vitality of each leaf, and then pick them one by one, she burst into tears! It turns out that plant-based pets have such a use!
She could cook, clean the house, and take care of herbs, and her attack power was not weak! She could pick things up almost effortlessly. It seemed that under Mo Yu's care, if Mo Yu was willing, she could live like a useless person!
This is a must-have for home and travel! No wonder Venerable Mo Shang is so... lazy!
An Ran took the herbs handed to her by Mo Yu in a daze, turned around and walked over mechanically. In order to avoid seeing the deep sleep of Venerable Mo Shang, she decisively chose to walk around the building to the back!
An Ran walked around the building for about a quarter of an hour, and had already walked nearly one-third of the circle, but she still didn't see the wooden house!
But! She remembered that it was almost at this place!
