Chapter 6 City

Chapter 6 City

After finishing the fried dumpling porridge, the food wasn't quite done yet, so she ate another egg. Then she cut up a few red dates, peeled three walnuts, and added them to the porridge. After cooking for a while, she added a little brown sugar. This was her homemade sweet porridge with red dates and walnuts, so she didn't need any vegetables. The porridge, after cooking for a while, was ready to eat. It was thick, with a hint of sweetness, fragrant and delicious. She cooked a bit too much porridge, so there was quite a bit left over. Ye Qian put it in a bowl so she could eat it next time she wanted to. It wouldn't get cold in the space anyway.

When Ye Qian was washing the pottery, she discovered that the water in the vat was running low. She could make do with everything else, but not the water.

The people of Yejia Village drew their water from the well. Ye Qian went inside, grabbed her shoulder pole and bucket, and followed the path she remembered. Turning left at the entrance, she passed two houses and arrived at the well. There were two wells in the village, and this one was the closest.

When Ye Qian arrived at the well, two sisters-in-law were washing dishes by the well. When they saw her approaching, they said, "Qian'er, I haven't seen you for a few days." Seeing the sister-in-law asking, Ye Qian walked closer and replied, "Yes, sister-in-law, I caught a cold a few days ago and went to the health center for the past two days."

The road to the health center and the county town was in the same direction, so even if someone saw me walking towards the county town, they wouldn't suspect anything. The sister-in-law who was asking the question was the village head's wife.

Seeing her coming, another sister-in-law got up and left. This sister-in-law who got up and left was none other than Ye Qian's relative. Ye Qian looked at the basin in her hand, the dishes in it were not yet washed. How afraid was she that someone would rely on her family?

Ye Qian was not smart. She was not the original owner. It was better this way. They had nothing to do with each other in the future. She did not want to deal with these relatives.

The village head's wife said nothing when she saw this. She washed the dishes, took the basin, said hello, and left. Ye Qian didn't think it was a big deal. She had no intention of making close friends with them, and she would leave sooner or later.

There was no one by the well now, which Ye Qian thought was just right. Although he still had memories, he had never drawn water before. What if someone saw him and exposed him?

Ye Qian saw a bucket by the well with a rope attached to it. This was a public bucket, used by everyone to draw water. She stood by the well, took the rope, and slowly lowered the bucket into the well. Then, according to her memory, she shook the rope left and right, and water should be in the bucket. Ye Qian tried shaking the rope, but the first bucket she brought up contained only a little water. Ye Qian poured it into her own bucket and lowered the rope again.

With the experience, the second time was much better, and she also filled half a bucket. Filling more water wouldn't work either, as she was too weak to lift it. She brought two buckets, each only half-filled with water, and carried them back on a shoulder pole. She went back and forth like this for the entire morning, finally filling the water tank.

Exhausted, Ye Qian lay down and sighed. She really couldn't do this. Looking at her thin arms and legs, she couldn't even get up. She'd just have something simple for lunch. She used the boiling water in the space to make a bowl of instant noodles and added a sausage.

There's nothing more comfortable than taking a nap after dinner. I slept until almost midnight. I haven't done anything all day. So, I might as well not get up.

Ye Qian thought about what to eat for dinner. Although her body didn't move, her mind was always busy. After thinking for a while, she took out a bowl of beef noodles, a fried chicken leg, a palm-sized strawberry cake and a bottle of zero-fat oolong tea from the space.

Um.

Perfect.

After eating, it was dark and I couldn't sleep, so I decided to go to the space to sort out some supplies that could be sold and help digest the food. Since I was planning to go to the city, there would be a lot of people there, so maybe I could make some money.

After sorting out the supplies, people in the city are richer than those in the county, so fine grains should be easy to sell, so a lot of fine grains were prepared.

Rice and flour are packed in 20 bags per pound as before. There are also some noodles without logos, and some noodles with logos are also unpacked and repacked. Brown sugar and white sugar are packed in 2-pound bags, and chickens and ducks are sold whole.

After organizing them like this, put these supplies aside and you can take them out and sell them directly when the time comes.

Stop and exhale.

Although this body had done farm work, it was still quite weak. It was sweating all over after doing little. It boiled some water, washed up, and went to sleep quickly.

When I woke up in the morning, I ate the sweet porridge left over from yesterday morning and ate two big meat buns.

She put on her small backpack, locked the door and left.

I can't go back tonight. The journey to the city is long. I have to walk from the village to the county bus station. There are only two buses a day, both of which run on schedule: 10 am and 4 pm. If I miss it, I will have to stay here overnight. To stay overnight, I have to stay in a hotel, which costs money and also requires a letter of introduction.

Ye Qian hurried and finally arrived at the station before the train was about to leave and successfully boarded the train. The train was not big, but the floor was piled with luggage. It was inconvenient to go out shopping now because everything required a ticket. If she could prepare it in advance, she would do it herself.

Ye Qian boarded the bus and glanced inside. She saw an empty seat in the back row and quickly squeezed through, sitting down. Before she could catch her breath, the bus started moving.

The city is not close to the county seat, and the car was bumpy and swaying all the way. Finally, after 2 hours, we arrived in the city.

Ye Qian was glad that this body was not carsick, but she still felt uncomfortable after getting off the car. After getting off the car, Ye Qian found a place to sit down and relax. She started to move after she felt better. This city is different from the county town. The houses look very new. Most of them are brick and tile houses, and some are brick and wood. And most of the floors are two-story buildings.

Earlier on the train, Ye Qian had already asked the conductor about what was nearby. She knew there was a state-owned hotel about 15 minutes' walk to the right after exiting the train. She'd just asked around, but without a letter of introduction, there was no way she could possibly stay there.

Across the street from the state-owned hotel was a supply and marketing cooperative. Ye Qian walked into the cooperative and found that the supplies were much more complete than in the county town. Although every price wasn't fully stocked, at least there were some items available. The snacks at the entrance were also much fresher than those in the county town.

However, Ye Qian walked around the first floor and came out. Now was not the time to go shopping, she should eat quickly. She was already hungry after staggering all the way.

Ye Qian left the supply and marketing cooperative and walked for a long time before she saw a state-owned restaurant. It was lunchtime. There were many people at the entrance, and she didn't want to wait in line. After a moment's hesitation, she decided to leave it for another time. She found a deserted alley and slipped into the space. She ate a bowl of spicy hot pot, drank a cup of milk tea, and ate a serving of fries and two chicken wings.

Ye Qian was eating lunch and thought to herself, "If I had known there were so many people in the state-owned restaurant, I should have just gone straight into the space to eat instead of walking so many detours for nothing."

After lunch, Ye Qian set up the tent she had bought earlier in the space and took a nap in it. She calculated the time to go out in the evening and did not forget to put on makeup and change clothes.

Ye Qian left the space and walked out of the alley. There were few people on the road at night and it was dark and quite scary. She walked for a long time but didn't see the black market. She finally met someone. Ye Qian ran over to ask, and scared the other person.

In fact, the black market was not far away. It was just behind the supply and marketing cooperative. The entrance was very hidden. If she didn't ask, she really wouldn't be able to find it.

Ye Qian put some noodles and brown sugar into her small backpack and went to the black market. She walked to the side and sat down. After observing for a while, she saw a woman with a pale face and thin body, but her clothes were decent. She must be from a well-off family.

Ye Qian walked towards her and said, "Sister, do you want some noodles and brown sugar?" Ye Qian was afraid that others would hear her, so she lowered her voice deliberately after walking in.

When the older sister heard that these were scarce supplies, her eyes lit up and she followed him into an empty alley nearby.

After the two of them made the transaction, Ye Qian sold several rounds of supplies in the same way and then quickly left the place.

I walked into an empty alley, waited for a while, and when I didn't hear any footsteps or see anyone, I returned to the space.

After counting the results of today, I sold more than 600 yuan and some tickets in just over an hour.

Squeak

As expected, in the city, the purchasing power is indeed much stronger than in the county.
