Chapter 14: Horse Racing

"I am just a horse trainer."

The girl had her hands behind her back, holding an iron stick, shaking it playfully, speaking in a relaxed tone.

"Yan Yan?" He Sui was startled for a moment, then he scolded in a low voice: "What nonsense are you talking about?"

He Yan didn't even look at He Sui, but just stared at Master Zhao and said, "Master, are you willing?"

Master Zhao was a man who cherished women. Although the girl's face was covered with a veil, his eyes could tell that she was pretty. Moreover, one should not hit a smiling person. She had a clear voice, so she must be a beauty. Since the beautiful girl made a request, he complied with it.

"Miss, you don't know that this horse has a fierce temper. If it gets hurt, I will be extremely upset." He reminded her kindly, thinking that he was very graceful.

But just as he finished speaking, he heard the girl smile. The next moment, he saw a flash of light before his eyes, and the red dress seemed to be fluttering like a flying rose, bringing with it a fragrant breeze. When he looked up again, He Yan was sitting upright on the horse, holding the reins.

The horse was originally being pulled by He Sui, and He Sui did not expect He Yan to suddenly jump onto the horse. His hands loosened, the rope fell, and the fierce horse was startled. It neighed loudly and jumped up on the spot.

"Yan Yan——" He Sui screamed in surprise, and He Yunsheng was also startled.

He Yan was not in a hurry. She simply threw away the reins and only grabbed the mane on the horse's neck. She held on tightly and did not let go even if the horse struggled. She lowered her body and put her ears next to the horse's ears, making a series of strange gurgling sounds.

Strangely, gradually, the wild horse stopped struggling, and its raised front hooves retracted to their original positions, and it slowly calmed down.

Everyone was shocked.

“Yanyan, come down quickly——” He Sui’s heart finally settled down, and he stretched out his hand to He Yan anxiously, “Don’t fall.”

He Yunsheng finally came back to his senses. The boy bit his lip, his face turned pale, and his voice trembled. "You... come down quickly! Do you want to die?"

"Hahahaha," Mr. Zhao, who had been in a daze, suddenly laughed out loud, "I didn't expect that the young lady is such an expert. In that case," he also jumped on the horse, "how about playing with the young lady?"

It is very graceful.

He Yan smiled slightly, "Then be careful, sir. I told you I'm a horse trainer." After saying this, she reached out her hand, patted the horse's butt, and the horse flew away in a cloud of dust!

"You don't even need a whip?" Young Master Zhao muttered, and then he whipped the horse, "Go!"

The two horses kicked up a cloud of dust on the track, leaving a crowd of stunned people.

He Sui slowly turned around and looked at He Yunsheng. He Yunsheng quickly explained, "Don't ask me. I don't know when she learned to ride a horse!"

He Sui seemed to be in a dream.

His own daughter knows her best. She can play the piano, chess, calligraphy and painting, and is good at dressing herself up, but when it comes to riding a horse or dancing with a sword, let alone being proficient, it would be good if she doesn't roll her eyes at the mere mention of the name. He Yan likes those elegant young men, likes to drink tea, discuss poetry and appreciate flowers under the moon. She stays away from these rough things, for fear that they will break her delicate skin.

But she was so skilled in getting on the horse, as if she had done it thousands of times and was used to it, even better than his father. The same thing happened to the fierce horse, which was as obedient as a kitten under her control. She didn't even need a whip? How did she do it?

He Sui looked towards the figure on the runway.

He Sui's untamed wild horse was as swift as the wind under He Yan. She had a graceful posture. Because she was wearing a long skirt that was not very convenient, she pushed it open to reveal her trousers underneath. However, she did not look rough at all, but rather had an indescribable sense of elegance.

Master Zhao couldn't catch up with her.

Master Zhao was a little annoyed.

He came to the training ground to show off, not to lose face. He Sui had made him very happy just now, but what was wrong with this girl? He couldn't lose to a woman, and the horse this woman rode was an untamed wild horse. Was he going to be laughed at?

Absolutely impossible!

Suddenly, a competitive spirit arose in Master Zhao's heart. He whipped the horse under him even harder. The horse felt the pain and ran forward quickly, about to surpass He Yan.

Yes, that's right. Looking at He Yan's figure getting closer and closer, Master Zhao couldn't help but feel proud. He started learning to ride a horse at the age of seven. After all these years, how could he still be inferior to a woman?

His horse finally surpassed He Yan.

Master Zhao laughed out loud: "Girl, you have to work harder!"

"You are so brave, sir," He Yan said with a hint of surprise, "This is also the first time I've been caught up by someone."

As she spoke, she touched the swinging iron stick at her waist with her fingers. Mr. Zhao's horse was in front and her horse was behind, and it was so evenly matched that the end of the iron stick poked the horse's butt.

No one noticed these slight differences, except the horse under Master Zhao.

The horse was startled and suddenly staggered. Master Zhao was caught off guard and his whip fell off. The next moment, the horse disobeyed his command and ran forward. Master Zhao was at a loss and pulled the reins tightly, but it was completely useless.

"Stop, stop!" he screamed, dizzy from being tossed around on horseback.

A woman's anxious voice came from behind, "Master Zhao? Master Zhao, are you okay?"

"Help...Help me!" Master Zhao was so frightened that his voice turned into tears, "Tell it to stop!"

In the distance, He Yunsheng frowned and asked, "What happened? Why did I hear that Zhao guy shouting for help?"

He Sui was startled, but saw that at the end of the runway, there were two horses running back towards them. Master Zhao's horse was in front, but he didn't have a whip in his hand. Instead, he held the reins tightly and cried. He Yan behind him was calling anxiously, but he was as steady as a mountain on the horse's back?

"Mr. Zhao's horse seems to be frightened." He Sui hurried to the stable to lead the horse, "I'll go and help!"

"Sir... Sir," the servant said, his face turning pale, "please don't let anything happen to you!"

Young Master Zhao was howling like a ghost on horseback, his voice was shrill. He Yanteng reached out a hand to pick his ears, it was so noisy.

If she didn't scare such an arrogant boy to death, she wouldn't be called He Yan. There were many new recruits in the army who thought they were superior and talented, but in the end they still had to face reality. In this world, there are always people better than you, so it's better to be low-key.

After appreciating enough, she saw He Sui starting to pull the horse over from a distance. He Yan patted the horse's butt again, and the horse stopped. She jumped off the horse quickly, and with one hand she held the iron-headed stick in front of Mr. Zhao's horse's neck. The horse was suddenly blocked, and its steps paused, and it stood up on the spot. He Yan grabbed the reins and shouted, "Call——"

The horses calmed down.

The wind blew, blowing up the white veil on her face. With a startled glimpse, the woman's face was revealed. In just a moment, it was quickly covered by a mist of white.

"Okay." She said to the man who was hiding on the horse's back and crying, "You can get off now, Master Zhao."

"Woo-woo-woo-woo-woo"

Master Zhao began to cry.
