Chapter 14 Where's my Coke?

Chapter 14 Where's my Coke?

Under the blazing sun, cicadas lazily perched on the elm trees, emitting feeble groans.

The ceiling fan whirred, and the smell of scorched asphalt mixed with chemicals churned in the heat.

Lin Sicheng's eyes were lifeless, and he leaned back in his chair listlessly.

"Zzz~" Something suddenly appeared on his arm, making him shiver from the cold.

He instinctively squeezed the bottle, and cool water droplets spread along his fingers, while carbonated bubbles burst loudly inside.

"Didn't we already buy it this morning?"

"It's alright, consider it a donation to help the poor!"

Xiao Yuzhu sat next to him, having changed her skirt into shorts, revealing her long, white legs.

Her face glowed softly, a slight sheen of sweat appeared on her nose, her eyes were slightly narrowed, and her long, fine hairs fluttered: "Did the nun scold you badly?"

"No, I only said a couple of words!"

That's impossible. Given the nun's personality and style, she only said a couple of words?

But thinking back to the morning, it seems that the nun wasn't too angry. She even called him to her office before speaking.

"Then what are you worried about?"

Lin Sicheng remained silent.

I can't exactly say that I might have found myself a stepmother, can I?

He sighed, "I have too much money, I don't know what to do with it."

"Tch, with so many donation organizations, why worry about this?"

"I'd rather donate the organization to you than donate the organization itself!"

"Perfect timing! Treat me to lunch this afternoon!"

"It's no big deal, where are you going?"

"Xinyuan Restaurant (school cafeteria)".

"Useless, can't even afford four dishes."

Xiao Yuzhu kicked him.

Just then, the girl who had sat in front of them that morning passed by and couldn't help but raise her eyebrows.

Lin Sicheng used to always have a "don't touch me" attitude, how come he's suddenly become so cheerful?

After thinking about it, she still sat in the row in front of the two of them.

A few minutes later, several boys carried boxes into the classroom, with Li Zhen following behind.

"He Wan, Su Xiaotong, Zhang Jianfeng, Ren Zhigang... come up and distribute the materials!"

Several students stood up, including the girl in the front row.

She walked slowly ahead of Xiao Yuzhu, a hint of mockery in her eyes:

"Ah Zhu, why are you sitting with Lin Sicheng?"

"What, can't I sit?"

"He's so arrogant, and he has a bad reputation!"

"It's alright, as long as I have money!"

"ah?"

He Wan was stunned and didn't react for a long time.

Xiao Yuzhu curled her lip, walked past her to the podium: "Mind your own business!"

With a clatter, several items were distributed to each student: an antique-style broken porcelain bowl, a rubber bowl, and a shovel.

Other products include gypsum powder, talcum powder, release agent, oil clay, and wax sheets.

Lin Sicheng could tell at a glance that today's practical lesson could be summed up in two words: filling in the gaps.

Xiao Yuzhu handed out porcelain bowls. When it was Lin Sicheng's turn, she rummaged through the bottom of the box, took out one that she had prepared beforehand, and placed it in front of him.

The bowl was mostly intact, with only two tiny chips the size of rice grains. In contrast, the other bowls were all broken, some even only half intact.

The boy carrying the box stared wide-eyed, while He Wan, covered in grease and dirt, twitched the corner of her mouth behind him.

It's one thing to favor one's own interests, but to do it so obviously is another.

Xiao Yuzhu didn't care about any of that and waved her hand, "Let's go?"

The two followed behind, looking rather dejected.

A short while later, she ran back, threw a white coat at Lin Sicheng, and put one on herself as well.

He's already tall with long legs, so it's like he's not wearing anything on his lower body.

After sitting down, she nudged Lin Sicheng's arm again: "You owe me three meals!"

The number of meals doesn't matter, even ten meals are fine, but we need to ask clearly.

"Where did you get three meals from?"

Xiao Yuzhu counted on her fair fingers: "You said you were going to donate some money to me, so this is one meal, right? I picked out the best bowl for you, so is it another meal? You don't know how to mend, so I have to help you, isn't that another meal?"

Lin Sicheng looked at the two small chips on the rim of the bowl: No wonder this bowl is so intact?

That's true. Although patching is simple, mixing and shaping the clay takes quite a bit of time.

Without any hesitation, he put on a white coat and took out the drawings he hadn't finished that morning.

Xiao Yuzhu put on gloves and began mixing the porcelain clay.

Li Zhen patrolled the classroom, offering guidance as she went. She came twice, and each time she saw Lin Sicheng, who was neglecting his studies, and Xiao Yuzhu, who was working diligently.

When she came for the third time, Xiao Yuzhu had already repaired Lin Sicheng's broken pieces and was shaping her own porcelain bowl.

The previous drawing is complete, and Lin Sicheng is currently drafting a new one.

Purely subconscious, Li Zhen glanced at it. Just as she was about to leave, she turned back around after they had all been lifted up.

Why does Lin Sicheng's picture look so strange?

First, the shape of the pot: the body of the pot is straight up and up, with almost no curvature. If the spout and handle are covered, it looks like a cricket jar, or a clay pot that has been shrunk many times over.

Secondly, the decoration is different. The body of the pot is undecorated, but the lid and bottom are decorated. This is exactly the opposite of traditional porcelain pots?

Upon seeing the four symbols pattern and the seal script decorations of "Wuji" and "Chang Le", Li Zhen pondered for a moment: This is a Han Dynasty earthenware pot.

But that's secondary. The most crucial point is that Li Zhen had never seen Lin Sicheng's painting style before.

At first glance, it looks like a sketch, but the changes in light and shadow are not obvious. Strangely, it has a strong sense of three-dimensionality.

It gives the impression that there are many layers painted on it, and even if you erase one layer, there is another layer underneath.

Just as they were engrossed in their reading, the classroom fell silent. Li Zhen tapped the long table: "Professor Shang is here!"

"Oh, oh~"

Lin Sicheng put away the draft paper, but it was too late to pack it up, so he could only place it in the corner of the long table.

Shang Yan entered the classroom and casually strolled around.

Turning to Lin Sicheng, he was pretending to fill in the missing parts.

"Does this bowl even need mending?" Shang Yan frowned. "Li Zhen, get him a new one!"

Lin Sicheng was dumbfounded.

Just as she was cursing her bad luck, Shang Yan squinted, picked up the scrap paper from the corner, and examined it carefully.

Li Zhen had limited experience and only knew that Lin Sicheng was painting a Han Dynasty earthenware pot, but Shang Yan could tell just from these few pictures:

The three pots in the picture are redesigned based on the existing broken tiles, taking into account their shape, curvature, and decoration.

To put it bluntly, it is made of real Han Dynasty tiles, not the kind of modern handicrafts that have the appearance of Han Dynasty tiles.

Strictly speaking, this teapot already falls into the category of antiques.

But that's secondary. The key is the overall shape of the pot: at first glance, the lines are curved with straight lines, the patterns are mixed with animals and flowers, and the flowers are mixed with characters. There are also seal script and clerical script, and the sizes vary.

Like a beggar's patched-up clothes, with four patches on the left and five scars on the right, it gives people a strange feeling of being tattered, haphazardly pieced together, and patched up.

But upon closer inspection, one can sense a balance of density and sparseness, a harmonious arrangement, and a sense of mutual respect and yielding.

A sense of familiarity arose in Shang Yan's mind, and her eyes lit up: Banqiao style?

While it may not be said that this style is unprecedented, the ability to showcase the artistic conception and beauty of calligraphy on a porcelain teapot is truly unheard of.

She looked up again and glanced at Lin Sicheng, noticing the pencil and compass in his white coat pocket.

This guy is a real talent!

"You designed it?"

Lin Sicheng vehemently denied it: "I learned it from my grandfather!"

Shang Yan was skeptical: "Really?"

Before Professor Lin retired, she was the head of the ceramics research group. We worked together for seven or eight years. How could she not recognize her style?

But Shang Yan didn't point it out; she just smiled and put down the sketch.

After she turned around, Lin Sicheng breathed a sigh of relief and put the toilet paper into his pocket.

Xiao Yuzhu stared at him, her eyes darting around: "You can even design porcelain teapots!"

"Didn't you hear me? You're studying."

"But why does Professor Shang seem so shocked?"

"Of course I was shocked: I've never seen such an ugly teapot!"

That's true.

Anyway, Xiao Yuzhu felt that Lin Sicheng's painting of the pot was not only ugly, but also clumsy.

She glanced at her watch: "One more class, remember to call Senior Sister Li!"

Lin Sicheng nodded: "Okay!"

He was just about to ask Li Zhen for help to inquire with the school teachers about any available rental properties.

With a few minutes left before class ended, the class advisor entered the classroom on the very last minute and said that the college would be holding a special open class on bronze ware restoration on Friday, which would count towards the class hours and all students were required to attend.

After the homeroom teacher left, Lin Sicheng followed behind and ran out of the classroom.

It's so hot, I'll buy an ice cream.

As soon as he left, He Wan turned around, smiling broadly, and asked, "Are you thinking of pursuing him?"

Xiao Yuzhu was a little confused: "Huh?"

"Lin Sicheng? With his grandfather putting in a good word for you, getting into any graduate program you want is just a matter of a word. Then you can stay at the university, teach, and your life will be secure, right? Tsk, I didn't realize you were so shrewd, Azhu?"

"Hehe!" Xiao Yuzhu chuckled, picked up Lin Sicheng's Coke, and gently shook it. "I didn't hear you clearly. Come on, come closer and say it!"

"Phoenix Girl!"

"Hiss~"

Ten minutes later, Lin Sicheng entered the classroom with an ice cream in his mouth: "Where's my Coke?"
