Wang Hu followed Zhang Qing's father, Zhang Keqing, into the house and was then warmly invited to sit at the head table.
As soon as he sat down, a group of men surrounded him, each with a smile on their face, but a sly glint in their eyes. Wang Hu inwardly groaned, "Judging by this, they're definitely going to get me drunk today!"
After the banquet began, everyone enjoyed the delicious food and toasted each other. Faced with a constant stream of people offering toasts, Wang Hu displayed astonishing generosity, accepting all offers and drinking one cup after another with gusto.
However, unexpectedly, as time went on, those who had originally intended to get Wang Hu drunk gradually couldn't hold on any longer and eventually all staggered and crawled under the table. Wang Hu, on the other hand, remained unfazed, chatting and laughing as if he had just drunk water, not alcohol.
Because of this banquet, Wang Hu gained another resounding title—the Wine Immortal. It's important to understand that in this place, anyone who earned this title was a master of drinking, capable of handling countless cups without getting drunk. When the guests had finished their meal and were leaving, only a scattering of drunkards lay sprawled across the floor.
Zhang Qing and his father looked at the mess before them and couldn't help but feel a headache coming on. It turned out that these drinking buddies were people Zhang Qing had specifically invited to help, but before they even started working, they were all already passed out drunk. Left with no other choice, the father and son had to personally clean up the mess. Wang Hu also went to help!
It took Zhang Qing and Wang Hu a lot of effort to gather up and stack the heavy tables and chairs one by one.
Looking at the mountain of tables and chairs in front of him, Wang Hu couldn't help but wipe the sweat from his forehead and said to Zhang Qing, "Brother! With so much stuff, are we really going to deliver it just the two of us? We probably won't be able to move it all even after two or three trips!"
At this moment, Zhang Keqing, who was standing to the side, replied with a smile, "Tiger, don't worry. His two uncles will bring some men to help with the moving later." You can't let your brother-in-law do any work right after the wedding!
Hearing this, Wang Hu felt much more at ease. He then said goodbye to Zhang Keqing, "Uncle, since that's the case, I'll head back now." With that, Wang Hu turned and left with light steps.
Wang Hu hurriedly left the spot, his mind preoccupied with the mountain of tables, chairs, and benches piled up at home.
You see, his family is also having a banquet today, and a bunch of people suddenly came to give gifts yesterday afternoon, so the number of attendees is likely to exceed yesterday's! Thinking of this, Wang Hu quickened his pace and jogged home.
When he ran home, panting, he was surprised by what he saw – the house had been almost completely cleaned up! His two aunts were sweeping the yard with brooms, their movements practiced and efficient.
The aunt looked up and saw Wang Hu just entering the door. She quickly put down the broom in her hand and said with concern, "Hu Zi is back! You smell of alcohol. Come inside and lie down to rest for a while."
It turned out that the eldest aunt and the youngest aunt had gone with the bride to the wedding. Since their families lived relatively close to each other, they returned early.
Furthermore, because they were both female relatives, they weren't pressured to drink at the banquet. In contrast, Wang Hu's uncle and third uncle were in a much worse state, still fast asleep in the house, completely drunk!
Hearing his aunt's concern, Wang Hu patted his chest and said loudly, "Oh, Aunt, don't worry! I'm not drunk at all. You see, I'm perfectly fine. I walk very steadily, without swaying at all!" As he spoke, he even spun around twice to prove that what he said was true.
Despite his young age, Wang Hu possesses superhuman strength. Those heavy cardboard boxes that even his two aunts and mother couldn't lift were a piece of cake for him.
He easily picked up several cardboard boxes, strode over to the pile of clutter, and arranged them neatly. Before long, the once messy yard was clean and tidy.
After taking out the trash, Wang Hu returned home with light steps. Thinking he needed a good rest later, he headed towards the kitchen to wash his hands. As he entered the kitchen, he immediately saw his grandfather busily boiling water and making tea in front of the stove.
Wang Hu asked curiously, "Sir, why are you brewing so much tea?"
Grandpa answered without turning his head, "Your third uncle and your eldest uncle are all drunk today, and your dad drank quite a bit too, they kept chugging him drinks! Let them have some tea to sober up!"
Upon hearing this, Wang Hu immediately stepped forward and said warmly, "Grandpa, let me cook for you!"
However, Grandpa reached out and stopped him, smiling as he said, "Little Tiger, don't worry about that. Go back and rest. Your aunt just told me that you drank more than your father and his two brothers combined!"
Wang Hu scratched his head, washed his hands, and turned to leave the kitchen. As soon as he entered the room, he felt unwell. Upon reflection, he realized he hadn't showered for three whole days.
Because of the recent cold weather, although the newly built house has a solar water heater installed, the antifreeze measures are not good enough. All the water pipes are frozen, and not a drop of water can flow. For the past two days, he's had no choice but to make do with simply wiping himself down with a towel.
Just then, Wang Hu suddenly heard a commotion outside, as if a large group of people had come in. He listened carefully and realized that it was his aunt's two older brothers, Fang Yun and Fang Yu, and his aunt's two younger sisters, Shen Lili and Shen Yuanyuan.
