Chapter 248 Uncontrollable Emotions

Feng Fenfen said, "From now on, you'll have to take care of the children yourselves. Don't even think about leaving them with me." Taking care of one or two children is still enjoyable, but taking care of a group of children would be a disaster!

Wang Hu was walking slowly when he suddenly caught sight of a familiar figure heading towards his house. Looking closer, he saw it was the village chief striding into his yard. Wang Hu was overjoyed and quickly greeted him warmly, "Grandpa, what brings you here today? Is there something important you need to tell me?"

Don't misunderstand, Wang Hu calls the village chief "Grandpa" not because the village chief is older than his father. In fact, the village chief is a few years younger than Wang Hu's father. It's just that according to the village's seniority system, the village chief's seniority is indeed very high, so Wang Hu addresses him with such respect.

Wang Hu quickly moved two stools over, sat down steadily himself, and then handed one to the village chief, smiling and gesturing for the chief to sit down as well. He then promptly stood up and poured the village chief a full glass of clear, boiled water.

The village chief took the water glass, took a small sip, and slowly said, "Tiger, I really have something I'd like to ask you for help with. You should still remember the primary school in our village, right?"

Wang Hu nodded with a puzzled look and replied, "Of course I remember! I studied there when I was a kid, and everything seemed normal when I passed by a couple of days ago! What happened?"

The village chief took a deep breath and then explained the situation in detail: "It's like this, we still owe some money from building the school, right? So, recently I finally managed to get some funding from higher authorities to build a new library for our village primary school, so the children can read more extracurricular books and broaden their knowledge. But who would have thought that the contractor in charge of the construction would come knocking on our door, demanding that we settle the debt immediately, or he'll stop construction and prevent us from continuing to build the library! I really have no choice but to swallow my pride and come to you for help, to see if you can lend a hand..."

Wang Hu scratched his head and asked with a puzzled look, "Why didn't Principal Zhang come to see me in person? Why did you come all this way?" He then gave the village chief a look of confusion.

The village chief laughed and patted Wang Hu on the shoulder, replying, "Hey, have you forgotten that Principal Zhang beat you up before? He was afraid you'd hold a grudge, so he asked me to come and find out what happened first."

Upon hearing this, Wang Hu immediately wore a mocking smile and joked, "Oh dear, I am indeed quite vengeful. But no matter what, this is still my alma mater. I can't just refuse to pay a penny because of this little grudge!"

Hearing Wang Hu agree so readily, the village chief beamed with joy and exclaimed excitedly, "Great! Now that you've agreed to give me the money, I'm completely relieved. Come on, let's go to the village committee right now and discuss the details." With that, the village chief pulled Wang Hu along and quickly headed towards the village committee.

A short while later, the two arrived at the village committee. As soon as they entered, Wang Hu glanced inside and, wow, there was a huge crowd of people standing there. Upon closer inspection, apart from the familiar principal and his elementary school homeroom teacher, Ms. Liu, he didn't recognize anyone else.

Seeing this, the village chief quickly and enthusiastically introduced the other village officials present to Wang Hu. After everyone had greeted each other, the village chief turned to Principal Zhang and said, "See? What did I tell you? Wang Hu doesn't hold a grudge at all. As soon as I mentioned this, he came with me without saying a word. You two should discuss what to do next and what the plan is!"

Upon hearing this, Principal Zhang immediately stood up and stepped forward, tightly grasping Wang Hu's hand, and said with a grateful expression, "Oh, thank you so much, Wang! I've been so worried about this matter that I've almost lost all my hair!"

Wang Hu said, "I can't just stand by and do nothing when my alma mater is in trouble. But Principal Zhang, you really wronged me when you beat me up back then. I didn't break that flowerpot; Li Xiaosi did!"
