Chapter 377 The Final Crack

In September, Beijing still retained the lingering heat of late summer. Wang Hu stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window on the top floor of Dingfeng Financial Center, gazing at the bustling streets below, his cool profile reflected in the glass curtain wall.

Unconsciously, fingertips traced the icicles on the wine glass, the coolness seeping into the veins of the blood through the palm—this three-month-long cat-and-mouse game was finally coming to an end.

"Young Master Li, I'm afraid I can't stay in Beijing for long." As Wang Hu turned around, ripples of red wine spread across his crystal glass. "Several women in my family are about to give birth, and I must go back to be with them."

Before he finished speaking, he keenly noticed that Li Feng's knuckles on the armrest suddenly turned white.

This subtle movement reminded Wang Hu of the secret report he received three days ago: the transfer of five luxury homes under Li Feng's name was being expedited, the antiques at the Moonlight Club were being packed overnight, and even the equity pledge contract for Dingfeng Financial had been signed.

Memories flooded back. Three days earlier, Wang Hu had unfolded the file folder that Attorney Liu had brought him in a dark room.

Three yellowed school photos slid onto the desk. The girls in the photos smiled brightly, but were forever frozen at the age of 19. "Li Kexin, died from a blunt force trauma to the head; Zhang Manman, died of suffocation; Zhou Xiaotang..."

The words on the autopsy report stung his eyes. Even more appalling was that the girl's parents' trip to Beijing to seek justice was leaked in advance. Surveillance footage showed that two black vans dragged them into an abandoned factory on the outskirts of the city, where they never came out again.

At that moment, Wang Hu slammed his fist on the solid wood table, and amidst the flying wood chips, one could almost hear the desperate cries of three girls.

The digital clock in the trading room struck 9:00 PM, and the NYSE's pre-market trading halt announcement jolted Wang Hu out of his reverie. His gaze swept across the flashing futures codes on the screen, finally settling on the soybean futures contract.

Drought has heightened expectations of reduced soybean production in the United States, and the market is already restless. He could sense the suppressed excitement of the trading team—this "monster stock" about to take off was the perfect opportunity to cash in.

"Go all in on soybean futures." Wang Hu downed the glass of red wine in one gulp, the crimson liquid sliding down his Adam's apple, much like the blood of innocent people.

Fang Liancheng paused on the keyboard, a barely perceptible hint of contempt flashing in his eyes.

Wang Hu sneered inwardly: The fish is about to bite the hook.

With a massive influx of funds, the price of the CBOT soybean futures contract surged from 1,350 cents per bushel to 1,620 cents, with trading volume breaking historical records.

Wall Street traders roared with bloodshot eyes, and the trading floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange was as chaotic as a battlefield.

However, Wang Hu discovered something unusual in the monitoring room—a mysterious short-selling force was quietly setting up a massive hedging position through over-the-counter options, waiting for the moment when the bulls were exhausted.

When the clock struck midnight and Wang Hu issued the order to close the position, the entire trading room fell into an eerie silence.

Fang Liancheng turned around, a victor's sneer on his face, while the traders behind him remained silent.

Li Feng strolled over, swirling his wine glass, his eyes behind his gold-rimmed glasses filled with a greedy and crazed light: "Wang Hu, you're always squeezing my profits! Do you think I'm stupid?! Don't you believe your nonsense about 'stable trading'?!"

Looking at Li Feng's twisted face, Wang Hu suddenly recalled Zhou Xiaotang's last post on WeChat Moments in the file: "So fairy tales are all lies; the rich man's castle is inhabited by devils."

He wanted nothing more than to tear this demon in front of him to pieces, but it was time to close the net. Killing him now would be too easy for him; he had to let him taste the bitterness of prison!

The shattered wine glass stained the carpet with a dark red hue, much like the bloodstains on Li Feng's hands.

On a Beijing street late at night, Wang Hu's hand holding his phone trembled slightly.

When he dialed Attorney Liu's number, his voice was filled with suppressed elation: "Submit all the evidence to the Ministry of Public Security. I want him to spend the rest of his life in prison!"

After hanging up the phone, he threw it into the moat, the roar of his engine cutting through the night sky.

In the rearview mirror, the neon sign of Dingfeng Financial gradually blurred, and a vengeful smile finally appeared on his lips.

On the other side of the world, the electronic screens of the Chicago Board of Trade suddenly flickered.

At 3:15 PM Eastern Time, short seller JPMorgan Chase and long seller Goldman Sachs reached an agreement to achieve a soft landing through a swap deal.

In this battle worth tens of billions of dollars, retail investors who frantically chased the rising prices became the biggest victims, and Li Feng's entire fortune was vanishing as the K-line plummeted.

At this moment, Li Feng was still frantically pounding on his keyboard in the trading room, ignoring the police sirens downstairs that woke him up!

He was completely unaware that outside his grandfather Li Guokai's courtyard house, vehicles belonging to the Discipline Inspection Commission were already parked!

Meanwhile, Wang Hu's car sped towards Li Feng's mansion, the car radio blaring a news flash: "Soybean futures prices plummet, triggering global market turmoil..."

He started frantically calling Wang Hu.

"Sorry, the number you dialed is currently switched off..."

He tried calling several different numbers but still couldn't get through. He still couldn't understand why Wang Hu had set up a trap, and he even thought that Wang Hu could save the day!

The sirens were getting closer and closer, and they were coming straight towards his building. Li Feng realized something was wrong!

"They said there were still several days left, so why did they act today!"

He said to Fang Liancheng, "If anyone comes looking for me later, just say I'm not here!"

Then he turned and went into his office, a large office with a red bookcase!

He carefully and gently pushed the top shelf of books aside, afraid of making any noise that might attract attention.
