The next morning, when Wang Hu woke up, he found that it was already past nine o'clock, and Zhang Feng was no longer in the room, presumably she had gone to work.
He quickly got dressed, ready to go out to claim his award. After getting dressed, Wang Hu picked up the underwear he had changed out of the night before, intending to put it in his pocket to take home and wash it, but then he thought, "I'm a millionaire now! Why be so stingy?" So he threw the underwear into the trash can.
Wang Hu stepped out of the hotel, the sunlight shining on his face, making him feel very comfortable.
In front of the hotel is a huge pool, more like an artificial lake than a pool. The water is crystal clear and beautiful.
Wang Hu strolled along the lakeside and saw children playing and frolicking by the pool. The fountain in the center of the lake danced to the music. These sights made him feel exceptionally happy, as if all his worries had been swept away.
Next, Wang Hu arrived at the bus stop.
Beilun is more than 30 kilometers away from the city center, and he needs to take multiple buses to reach the award center.
Along the way, Wang Hu admired the scenery outside the window. The streets were bustling with pedestrians and vehicles, most of whom were people rushing to work.
The towering buildings in the city stand side by side, creating a bustling urban landscape.
After taking several buses, Wang Hu finally arrived at the prize redemption center. It was nearly 11 a.m., and the staff were about to leave for the day, so Wang Hu hurried inside.
After entering the prize redemption center, Wang Hu explained his purpose to the staff, who immediately came forward and asked him to show his ID card and verify the lottery ticket.
"Hello, please show me your ID card. We need to verify your information," the staff member said politely.
"Okay, here you go." Wang Hu said, handing his ID card to the staff member.
The staff carefully checked the information on the ID card and lottery ticket. After confirming that everything was correct, they smiled and said to Wang Hu, "Congratulations, you have won the lottery. The prize money will be directly deposited into your bank account."
After completing the prize redemption process, Wang Hu found a total of 800,000 yuan in his bank account, of which 200,000 yuan had already been used to pay taxes.
Just then, a staff member from the Red Cross came over and asked Wang Hu if he was willing to donate.
"Hello, would you like to contribute to our public welfare cause?" a Red Cross staff member asked with a smile.
Wang Hu readily agreed and handed over all the few hundred yuan he had left in cash to the other party.
"Thank you so much for your generosity. Your kindness will help many people in need," a Red Cross staff member said gratefully.
"It's what I should do; I just want to do my part," Wang Hu replied modestly.
This Red Cross staff member had seen all sorts of situations; he had even seen people donate just one cent.
After all, with the recent string of negative news about the Red Cross, many people are unwilling to donate to them anymore, fearing that the donations will be embezzled or misused.
However, the staff member unexpectedly stopped Wang Hu, who was about to leave, and asked him to sign something before he left.
"Excuse me, sir, could you please sign this first? This is our donation record, and we need your signature to confirm it." The staff member handed Wang Hu a form.
Wang Hu took the form and carefully signed his name.
"Thank you again for your support and trust. We will ensure that your donation is used properly," the staff member said.
Wang Hu smiled and nodded, then turned and left the prize redemption center, feeling exceptionally happy.
After leaving the prize redemption center, Wang Hu planned to take a taxi home, but when he reached into his pocket, he realized, oh no, he had just donated the money.
He noticed an elderly sanitation worker nearby and quickly went over to ask, "Sir, is there a bank around here?"
The old man raised his hand and pointed in a direction, saying something that Wang Hu couldn't understand at all, as he wasn't fluent in Ningbo dialect.
"Thank you, sir!"
Wang Hu walked for about ten minutes in the direction the cleaning man pointed out, and lo and behold, he actually spotted an ATM.
Wang Hu withdrew a thousand yuan, and as he turned his head, he saw a Haidilao hot pot restaurant next door. He had heard of this place in his previous life, but had never tried it.
Wang Hu stared at the large entrance of Haidilao, and a hostess at the door immediately came to greet him.
"Hello sir, do you have an appointment?"
The hostess was dressed in a bright red uniform, looking like a flight attendant, with her hands crossed in front of her abdomen—she was incredibly poised.
"No, this is my first time here. I only heard about it online. Do I need to make an appointment to come?" Wang Hu asked, a little embarrassed.
"You can come without a reservation, but if you want a specific spot, then you'll need to make a reservation. Sir, please come in." As she spoke, the young woman bowed slightly and stretched out one hand towards the store.
This was the first time Wang Hu had ever been served like this, and it felt quite novel. In his previous life, who had ever called him "sir"? Only customer service representatives. Moreover, this was a stunningly beautiful woman in a uniform.
Wang Hu walked into the store and wow, it felt like entering a blue ocean. Everything was blue—the staff wore blue, the ceiling was blue, even the hanging racks were blue.
Wang Hu now understood why it was called Haidilao (meaning "sea hot pot").
The greeter led Wang Hu to his seat and asked him:
"Which type of hot pot base would you like? We have spicy and seafood hot pot bases..."
"Whatever, I'll just order the most expensive one here." Wang Hu had never eaten here before and didn't know what was good, so he asked them for recommendations.
Before long, a plate of watermelon was served, followed by all sorts of other dishes, leaving Wang Hu dazzled by the sight.
