Meng Zhiyun suddenly raised her head, glared at Wang Hu, and replied stiffly, "No need! I've already said that. Let's drive!" However, despite her best efforts to conceal it, her slightly trembling voice betrayed her true emotions—a hint of a sob mixed with barely suppressed anger.
Wang Hu instantly realized that she was extremely angry, but this man, who was never good with words and had no experience in coaxing girls, was completely at a loss in the face of this situation. He had been a bachelor for thirty years in his previous life! This sudden situation left him utterly clueless about how to handle it.
Looking bewildered and helpless, he slowly drove out of Shihezi Village, through the peaceful and tranquil Ningling County, and sped towards Shangqiu. When Wang Hu stopped at a service area to refuel, Meng Zhiyun, who had been silent all along, finally couldn't hold back and began to sob softly in the passenger seat.
At this moment, she was filled with inner conflict and struggle, and couldn't help but secretly blame herself. When she found out at noon that he was with her second sister-in-law, she was furious and wanted to break up with him immediately and go her separate ways.
However, whenever she thought of the irreplaceable sense of security Wang Hu gave her, especially when her family faced a crisis, he stepped forward without hesitation, drove thousands of miles to bring her back at top speed, and handled everything perfectly, her heart softened again, and she found it hard to let go of this relationship.
At this moment, Meng Zhiyun could only weep. Seeing this, Wang Hu quickly and steadily parked the car on the side of the road. He quickly got out of the car, opened the passenger door, and carefully and gently carried the tear-streaked Meng Zhiyun out, holding her tightly in his arms.
Unexpectedly, this hug made Meng Zhiyun cry even harder, as if she wanted to vent all the grievances and pain in her heart. Not only that, she also used all her strength to bite Wang Hu's broad and sturdy shoulder hard.
Time passed slowly, and after about ten minutes, Meng Zhiyun's emotions gradually calmed down. At this moment, she suddenly noticed that many passersby were curiously watching the two of them.
A wave of shyness washed over her, and she quickly pulled Wang Hu up and hurried to the back seat of the car. But as soon as they sat down, the resentment seemed not to have completely dissipated, so she reached out and grabbed Wang Hu's arm again, biting him mercilessly once more.
Wang Hu, who had been bitten, gasped in pain, but still forced himself to ask softly, "Baby, I'm sorry, but can you tell me what happened?"
Meng Zhiyun glared angrily and demanded, "You actually have the nerve to ask me what happened? Are you having an affair with the neighbor's second sister-in-law? Several neighbors saw her sitting in your car today, and there was no one at her house at noon!"
At this point, Meng Zhiyun trembled with anger, her voice becoming increasingly shrill: "Have you ever thought about how my parents would face the neighbors if this shameful affair were to spread? And what about my neighbor's second sister-in-law? Will she ever be able to hold her head high in this place again?"
Upon hearing this, Wang Hu's face turned deathly pale, and cold sweat poured down his forehead. He inwardly cursed, "How could this have gotten out?" At that moment, he felt a wave of fear wash over him. If it hadn't been Meng Zhiyun who discovered this first, but someone else, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
However, before Wang Hu could fully calm down, he heard Meng Zhiyun coldly say, "I think we should break up! It's one thing for you to fool around outside, but why do you have to bring this messy stuff to my doorstep? Do you really want to force me to the point where I'm afraid to even go home?"
Wang Hu, his face full of remorse, pulled her into a tight embrace, his voice low and sincere: "I'm sorry, it's really my fault. I promise I'll never do it again. Please forgive me!"
Upon hearing these words, Meng Zhiyun's already somewhat tender heart softened even more. After all, she had always been a kind-hearted and easily moved person. However, despite her inner turmoil, she remained outwardly defiant, coldly scoffing to indicate that she hadn't completely calmed down.
But in reality, her hands unconsciously tightened around Wang Hu, as if afraid that he would disappear if she let go. Perhaps because she was too tired from crying, or perhaps because she was comforted by Wang Hu's warm embrace, she soon fell asleep nestled against him.
Time slipped by unnoticed, and before they knew it, they had slept in each other's arms for a full hour. When Meng Zhiyun slowly woke up, she glanced at her watch and realized it was already past three o'clock. So, the two decided to get out of the car to get something to eat before continuing their journey to their destination.
After a long drive, they finally arrived in Ningbo. It was past midnight, and the highway exit was quiet. Wang Hu carefully drove off the highway and quickly found a hotel that looked decent. After checking in, he carried the sleeping Meng Zhiyun into the room, gently placed her on the bed, and then lay down beside her, exhausted, quickly falling into a deep sleep himself.
The next morning, sunlight streamed into the room through the gaps in the curtains. Wang Hu woke up early, worried that Meng Zhiyun might be hungry, so he quickly got up and went downstairs to buy breakfast. When he returned to the room with the steaming breakfast, he found that Meng Zhiyun had already woken up and was sitting on the edge of the bed, lost in thought. Seeing the breakfast Wang Hu was carrying, a smile appeared on her face, clearly indicating that she was no longer angry with him.
