Chapter 29

Chapter 29 Returning to My Mother's Home

On the first day of the New Year, everyone spent it eating and drinking. When it came to the second day, it was time for married girls to return to their parents' home.

The Liu family didn't go home. Now that Shulan was getting married, she had to come back to visit her parents' home the next day, so the aunt and grandmother Liu didn't go back to their own parents' home, and they stayed at home to entertain the girls and their husbands.

Early in the morning, Uncle Liu and his wife sat together in the main room, glancing at the door from time to time to see if the girl had returned. Liu Jianjun ran to the village early to wait for his sister and brother-in-law.

As soon as the winter sun came out, Shulan brought her husband back to her parents' home with a lot of bags. Aunt Liu quickly stepped forward and asked her daughter about her life in her husband's family. Uncle Liu was in a good mood and started chatting and laughing.

Shu Xin did not disturb her aunt from communicating with her cousin. She called her cousin's husband and took him into the main room to chat with Uncle Liu and Grandpa Liu.

Li Youjun, the cousin's husband, answered Shuxin's questions carefully. In this room, neither his father-in-law nor his elder brother-in-law gave him as much pressure as Shuxin.

Li Youjun was the bully of the Li family. He had been coaxed by his parents to favor him since he was a child. He thought he was brave and eloquent, but in front of his wife's cousin, he didn't dare to say a word.

When he first met Shuxin a few years ago, he only thought that this cousin was a smart, cultured and capable person, but after marrying Shulan, he realized that she was also very powerful.

In the second month of their marriage, Shuxin went to Li's house to see Shulan. When she left, Shulan asked Li Youjun to send her sister back to the village.

As a result, when Li Youjun sent Shuxin to the village and was about to go home, Shuxin called him and beat and warned him. In order to make him more impressed by her words, Shuxin raised her hand and smashed the bricks she picked up from the ground, and left the broken pieces for him as a souvenir.

From then on, Li Youjun behaved like a mouse when he saw Shuxin, and was very obedient to Shulan. Even when his sister-in-law bullied Shulan at Li's house, he helped to fight back. He was afraid that Shuxin would accidentally find out that Shulan was bullied at home and he didn't help her, so she would slap him in anger. His small body couldn't withstand a few slaps from Shuxin.

When Shuxin heard Li Youjun's answer, she felt relieved that Shulan was not bullied in the Li family. She thought he was honest, so she didn't stay in the main room to scare him. She lifted the curtain and went out to find Shulan. Li Youjun was relieved to see that the evil star had finally left, and began to make witty remarks to make his father-in-law happy, so as to try to stop his cheap cousin from punishing him in the future.

I went to my aunt's room and found Shulan. I saw that Aunt Liu was so happy that her face was exposed. It seemed that something good had happened that she didn't know about.

"Xin girl, come quickly, your sister Shulan is pregnant!"

"Really? Sister, how are you? The first three months are the most important. Are you okay walking such a long distance every day?"

"Well, a little over two months. The doctor said I'm in good health and walking around won't affect my health."

"That's good. It's such a happy thing. Auntie, go to the kitchen and tell grandma the good news. And ask her to cook more meat to celebrate my becoming an aunt!"

After knowing that Shulan was pregnant, all the members of the Liu family were happy for her. She got pregnant less than half a year after getting married, and she had a firm foothold in the Li family. Although when she was not pregnant, the Li family did not dare to mistreat this daughter-in-law with backing.

Aunt Liu packed a big bag of things for Shulan to take back to take care of her pregnancy. Uncle Liu was thinking about preparing toys for his grandson, and Grandma Liu took Shulan to share her pregnancy experience.

Shuxin returned to her bedroom and packed some malted milk and milk candy for her cousin to take back to supplement the nutrition of the mother and the baby. The next time she went out, she would buy some soft clothes for Shulan and send them to her to make clothes for the child.

Luo Yue knew that his best friend was pregnant. He looked at Shu Lan's belly with curiosity. It was the first time for him to see a woman around him pregnant. When she came to her senses, she gave her best friend a lot of snacks, telling her to eat when she was hungry and not to deprive herself.

Seeing that Luo Yue generously gave Shulan a lot of things, everyone in the Liu family nodded in their hearts. Although Luo Yue seemed a little weird, it was undeniable that he still had his good points. They completely recognized this unique son-in-law from the bottom of their hearts.

When Shulan and her friends came, they brought many bags of stuff with them, and they had even less stuff to take back. Shuxin saw that Li Youjun really couldn't carry it all, and Shulan was pregnant and couldn't bear the strain, so she simply rode her bicycle to send them back.

Shulan sat in the front, wrapping the front bumper with a thick cotton coat to protect her from being shaken. Li Youjun sat sideways in the back, carrying a load of stuff, with the rest of the stuff hanging on the other side.

When the Li family's mother-in-law saw Shuxin riding a bicycle to send her youngest son back two days later, she quickly made a bowl of sugar water and gave it to Shuxin to quench her thirst. Shuxin did not delay and drank it in one gulp. She wiped the water from the corner of her mouth and said goodbye to the Li family.

"Thank you, Auntie. I'll go home after they both take me home. You don't have to see me off, Auntie."

After seeing Shuxin leave, Granny Li returned to the main room to pack up the things her daughter-in-law brought back. She also thanked her in-laws for being so generous. These things were not small, there were several packages.

The malted milk, candies and snacks were all left for the younger daughter-in-law. It was obvious that these rare things were given to Shulan by her younger daughter-in-law's cousin to nourish her body. As for the meat and eggs, she kept them to cook one for Shulan every day.

When the eldest and second sisters-in-law of the Li family saw Shulan carrying a lot of things back to the house, they couldn't help feeling sad. Ever since Shulan came into the family, her brother and cousin from her mother's side would send things to visit her from time to time, and they never came empty-handed. But what about their mother's families? Not to mention coming to see them, it’s good enough that we don’t have to rely on them for support.

The mother-in-law was increasingly displeased with them, and their husbands were not happy with them, which made them feel uncomfortable.

Although the father-in-law didn't say anything, seeing that he was becoming more and more friendly towards his young daughter-in-law Shulan, it was clear that the father-in-law still had some opinions about their families.

Shulan had no idea of her two sisters-in-law's mental activities. She went back to her room, put her things down, and then lay down on the bed and dozed off. Seeing this, Li Youjun did not disturb Shulan's sleep, but carefully closed the door and went to his parents' room.

"Little one, why did you come out?"

"Mom, Shulan is asleep, save dinner for her."

"Pregnant women need more sleep, let her sleep, I will steam an egg cake for her later to keep warm."

Eunuch Li agreed with the old woman's approach. Normally, he had no opinion on the two daughters-in-law in the family, but he thought the younger daughter-in-law was good.

The younger daughter-in-law was generous and would always give some of the things she brought back from her parents' home to the older two. She was gentle in nature and had never had a quarrel with her younger son in the half-married life.

Shuxin didn't know a series of things that happened in the Li family after she left. After leaving the Li family, she didn't go back to the Liu family, but walked towards the city.
