Qian Lu was unhappy. He didn't want to wear that kid's clothes. Every time he saw him with Er Ya, he would act all sarcastic and talk in a strange tone, which was annoying.
But seeing that Jiang's mother couldn't find any other clothes, he could only reluctantly put on that outfit, instantly transforming from a young master into a spirited young man from the village.
Touching the tightly stitched seams of his clothes, he smiled despite his initial reluctance. He had never worn clothes like this before, and it felt quite nice. He grinned and said to Er Ya:
"How about it? Doesn't it make me look much better in this outfit? I look better than that kid, right?"
Er Ya gave him a speechless look: "Didn't you hear what my mother said? This is new. Brother Lin Xiao hasn't even worn it yet. You're getting a good deal."
“Then this is mine. It’s quite comfortable to wear, and the size is just right. You can tell him about it later. I’ll just buy him a new set of clothes if necessary.”
Er Ya looked up and saw Lin Xiao walking over: "I'm not going to talk to him. Look, he's here. You can talk to him yourself."
As soon as Lin Xiao entered the door, he saw that Qian Lu's clothes looked very familiar. He sat around them and said impatiently, "Just say what you want. Why are you spinning around? You're making me dizzy."
"The clothes you're wearing... these seem to be my clothes."
There was a time before when his godmother mentioned making clothes for him, and she even tried them on him a few times. Not long after, his godmother gave birth to his little brother, and he never asked about the clothes again, thinking that his godmother probably wouldn't have time to make them during that time.
After looking at it more closely, she realized it was definitely the same one he had tried on. She stepped forward to unbutton it, saying, "Take it off! Who told you to wear my new clothes?"
Qian Lu clutched her chest, looking like a wronged little wife: "I won't! Someone come quick! Er Ya, come save me! He molested me, took advantage of me! My innocence is ruined!"
Er Ya glared at him disdainfully: "You're both grown men, he has what you have too, what did he do to you? Stop with your dirty and filthy thoughts."
However, she still stepped forward and pulled Lin Xiao away, afraid that Qian Lu, that disgraceful bastard, would make a scene that the whole world would know.
Jiang's mother also persuaded Lin Xiao: "Xiao Lu's clothes were soiled by Xiao Bao's poop, so he gave him your new clothes. How about your godmother makes you two more sets of clothes tomorrow?"
Since his godmother had spoken, Lin Xiao had no choice but to nod and say, "No need, godmother. The clothes you made for me before were fine. You were even coaxing my little brother. You don't need to make any more for me. These clothes are for him."
Qian Lu stood to the side and made a face at Lin Xiao, then deliberately circled around him, smiling smugly as she said, "Thank you for the clothes, Auntie. I love them. My mother has never made clothes like these for me before."
"I'm glad you like it. I'll make you another one next time I have time."
Lin Xiao, watching Qian Lu's smug expression, suppressed the urge to yell at him and said to Er Ya, "I came to invite you to dinner. Almost everyone outside has arrived."
Dinner was served! As soon as they heard that it was time to eat, Er Ya and Qian Lu rushed out as if they hadn't eaten in a long time, afraid that if they were late they wouldn't get a table.
Their worries were not unfounded. The courtyard was already full of people, all with their families. Several tables were even set up at the entrance. The two of them quickly found two empty seats before they could relax and wait for their meal.
Lin Jianguo was also worried. He had calculated the number of people and prepared ten tables, but more than twenty tables came. Fortunately, he bought a whole pig and prepared a lot of side dishes, so he didn't embarrass himself. However, he didn't have enough tables, so he borrowed from one neighbor to another and managed to put together about ten tables.
I was so angry that I was pacing back and forth like an ant on a hot pan. What should I do?
As soon as Er Ya saw Lin Jianguo's expression, she knew he must have run into trouble. She told Qian Lu and ran to Lin Jianguo, asking, "Dad, dinner's almost ready. What are you doing wandering around here? What's wrong?"
When his daughter arrived, Lin Jianguo, who had been extremely anxious, felt relieved as soon as he heard her voice, like eating an ice pop on a sweltering summer day.
After telling Er Ya everything, he looked at her nervously, wanting her to make a decision quickly, since it wasn't good for her to just stand there.
Er Ya pondered for a moment, and an idea popped into her head: "Dad, what's so difficult about this? Anyway, there's enough food. We can divide so many people into two groups, and after one group finishes eating and leaves, the remaining people can eat, right?"
That's an idea, but who eats first and who eats later is a problem. Everyone wants to finish eating quickly and get on with their own business.
As expected, when Lin Jianguo conveyed Er Ya's idea, everyone in the courtyard started arguing: "We were here first, let's eat first, we have things to do later."
"Yeah, hurry up and serve the food, I've been starving for ages."
Some people were dissatisfied: "Why? We all got the same food. Why do you get to eat first and I get to eat later?"
"That's right, we're all the same people, why should we wait on an empty stomach? I don't want to."
.
"Yeah, you told us to eat later, what if there's no meat or anything left by then?"
Everyone was talking at once, and Er Ya, seeing that the situation was about to get out of control, quickly stood on a stool to calm everyone down:
"Please be quiet, everyone. Listen to me. I know you've all come to give us face and show your support, and we're very grateful. But, we really are sorry."
We didn't expect so many people to come. We didn't think things through. If it was our mistake, I apologize to everyone. Please understand. We had no other choice but to come up with the idea of splitting the meal into two groups.
After clearing his throat, he continued, "We're all from the same village, so it doesn't matter who eats first or last. Let's let the elderly and children eat first, okay?"
The rest of you, please wait a moment. I guarantee that the next group of people will have plenty of food. We have prepared a lot of food, so we can make sure the portions are generous and that you are all satisfied.
Upon hearing that the portions would increase if they ate later, some people hesitated and stood up. After all, it was just a short wait. It was common for people from the countryside to go hungry. If what Er Ya said was true, they could take the leftovers home for dinner. What a great thing that would be!
