Chapter 79 Wounded

Seeing Lin Jinbao and Niu Shi trying to slip away in the crowd, Er Ya grabbed them and said, "You're not allowed to leave."

He called out to the crowd again, "Could someone please go and call Grandpa Village Chief?"

"Oh dear, this could be a fatal situation. We definitely have to tell the village chief."

She had long disliked Niu Shi for her cunning and deceitful ways, and her tendency to falsely accuse others. Now that she had the chance, she was going to teach her a lesson. She ran away like a rabbit and disappeared in no time.

Lin Jinbao glared angrily at Er Ya: "Why are you pulling me? Let go or I'll kill you."

Er Ya wasn't afraid of his threats. She yelled for a few people to help hold him down. At first, no one listened to her...

Er Ya then launched into another scathing attack: "If anything happens to Brother Gou Dan, and you let the criminal go, you'll all be accomplices. When the police come, they'll arrest you all."

Those who were leisurely watching the commotion suddenly realized they might be implicated, and several of them rushed forward and grabbed Lin Jinbao. Niu Shi, who was standing nearby, got so angry that she went up to hit them and was pushed to the ground.

Seeing that Er Ya was serious, Lin Jinbao cried out in fear, "Grandma, please save me! I don't want to go to the police station. Please tell that brat Er Ya to let me go!"

Grandma Shen scrambled to her feet and grabbed Er Ya tightly, refusing to let go: "How can you be so heartless? He's your brother! What kind of devil are you? You'll get your comeuppance!"

After saying that, he reached out to hit Er Ya.

Er Ya stared coldly at her, pointing to her own face and saying, "You want to hit me? Go ahead and hit me here. After you slap me today, even when you're old, I won't do anything to you."

But I'll tell the police it was your precious grandson who did it. Guess how many years he'll get for intentionally injuring someone and brutally beating his own sister?

Upon hearing this, Old Lady Shen dared not strike again, fearing that it would make Lin Jinbao's crime even more serious.

He lay on top of Lin Jinbao and started throwing a tantrum: "Let my grandson go! Let the police come and arrest me. I'll take the blame for him."

"Grandma, do you think the police station is your private property? You can't just take his side whenever you want. There are so many people watching. He just yelled that he was going to kill me. A lot of people heard that, right? Who do you think will lie for you?"

Lin Jinbao was terrified and cried uncontrollably, "Grandma...Grandma, you have to save me...I will take care of you from now on, please don't take me away."

Grandma Shen was heartbroken and said fiercely to Er Ya, "If you don't release your brother, I'll die and make you take the blame for driving your own grandmother to her death. Then we'll see who goes in first."

Perhaps thinking it was a good idea, she wiped away her tears and was about to rush to the riverbank when she was stopped by onlookers.

Grandma Shen felt she had Er Ya under control, and she kept shouting, "Don't stop me, let me die! I'll die so that I can pay for that outsider's life! This heartless girl, she's going to drive her own grandmother and brother to their deaths! God, please open your eyes and see!"

Er Ya coldly watched as Old Lady Shen made a scene, shouting to die while tightly gripping someone else's hand.

Someone couldn't stand it anymore and tried to smooth things over, saying, "Alright, Er Ya, look at how your grandma is, don't make such a big fuss, otherwise how will your uncle's family survive?"

"How will his family survive? Then let me ask you, if something happens to Brother Gou Dan, how will my Aunt Tao Hua survive?"

What? Only Lin Jinbao's life matters, but other people's lives don't?

Don't stop her. Let her go if she wants to die. I'm just afraid that even if she dies, it won't do any good. She still won't be able to stop her grandson from going to jail.

Seeing that Er Ya wasn't buying it, Old Lady Shen stopped yelling for her to die and sat on the ground cursing Er Ya for being so vicious, saying that she would definitely get her comeuppance in the future.

Er Ya said disdainfully, "People like you don't get any retribution, so why would I? Even if there really is such a thing as retribution, it should be people like you who are the first to suffer."

It's not appropriate for others to interfere in other people's family affairs, so they just watched as Er Ya and Old Lady Shen started arguing back and forth.

Just as a fight was about to break out, someone in the crowd shouted, "The village chief is here! The village chief is finally here! If you hadn't come, someone would have died today!"

Lin Fugui shook his pipe, frowning as he watched the farce unfold. Seeing it was Old Lady Shen again, his old back began to ache once more.

"Oh dear sister-in-law, what's wrong now?"

When Old Lady Shen saw that someone was listening to her, she stopped crying and got up, pointing at Er Ya and saying:

“Look at our girl, her brother was just messing around with her, and she had the heart to send him to the police station. How could she be so cruel?”

Er Ya asked, amused, "Are you kidding me? Do you joke around with someone by hitting them with a stick as thick as an arm? Would you be happy if I joked around with you like this?"

Seeing that someone was backing her up, Old Lady Shen arrogantly pointed at Er Ya's nose and asked, "Nothing happened, you were standing right here, weren't you?"

"Hehe, Grandma, how forgetful are you? Can't you see the pool of blood on the ground? Anyway, no matter who comes today, Lin Jinbao is going to jail for good."

Looking at the blood on the ground, Lin Fugui felt his back hurt even more. There was blood now; this was going to be difficult to handle. He should have said he wasn't home.

There was no other way; since we were already here, we had to uphold justice. So we asked Er Ya, "Who's injured? Are they alright? Have they been taken to the hospital?"

Er Ya then let down her guard and cried, "It was Aunt Tao Hua's son, Gou Dan. It's all my fault. Lin Jinbao was going to hit me, but he took the hit for me. My dad took him to Dr. Li."

Lin Fugui asked anxiously, "How is he? Is he alright?"

“I don’t know yet, Grandpa Village Chief. I’m going to call the police. Someone took this hit for me today, but what about in the future? What if he goes crazy again? So I’m going to teach him a lesson today.”

Lin Fugui hesitated and said, "Is it necessary? You are family after all. Let's check on Gou Dan's condition first."

"No, I have to call the police. If no one helps me, I'll go to the police station myself."

Seeing how stubborn Er Ya was, Lin Fugui's face also turned cold. If she kept quiet and really made a scene at the police station, wouldn't that be a dereliction of duty on his part as the village chief?

He glanced at Old Mrs. Shen, indicating that he was also powerless to help, and said:

"Lin Shitou, go to the police station and have someone come over. The rest of you, go do what you're supposed to do, don't all crowd around here."

Since the village chief had spoken, those who still wanted to stay and watch the excitement had no choice but to go home.
