Chapter Ninety-Three: Harmony in the Family Brings Prosperity in All Things!

A harmonious family brings prosperity; the most wonderful thing is for the whole family to live peacefully and harmoniously.

Jiang Heping laughed and said, "Come on, everyone, come and eat! Today, adults and children alike can sit at the same table and have some fun."

He then instructed Chen Xiuhua, "Old woman, take some money and have Damin go buy a pound of wine. How can we not have wine when his uncle comes?"

Chen Xiuhua slapped her thigh: "Oh dear, I forgot about that. Here, Damin, here's the money, hurry up and run."

Damin, who thought he was about to get to eat meat, said sullenly, "Oh? I'll go right now."

Ermin volunteered, saying, "I'll go, let my brother eat here."

Anyway, it doesn't matter who goes. Chen Xiuhua handed the money to Ermin and urged Lin Jianguo and the others to eat first: "Let's eat first and fill our stomachs, otherwise we won't feel comfortable drinking."

Damin got excited, picked up his chopsticks, took a piece of meat, put it in his mouth, and said that it smelled so good that he almost swallowed his tongue: "Meat is the best. Mom, I wish we could eat meat every day."

Chen Xiuhua glared at Jiang Damin: "All you ever do is eat. Look at your brother, every time I ask you to run an errand, you make excuses and refuse to go. You always make your brother go instead."

Jiang Damin pretended not to hear and continued to eat with relish.

Wang Meili glanced at Jiang's mother and said with a smile, "That day will come. When that day comes, I'll make you eat meat until you're sick of it."

Er Ya held her small bowl and ate the steamed egg custard with relish. The steamed egg custard made by her aunt was different from that made by her mother, and it suited her taste quite well. She ate it in big mouthfuls.

Jiang Damin looked at the steamed egg custard in Er Ya's bowl with great envy and became envious. He then offered his opinion to Wang Meili: "Mom, why don't we have steamed egg custard? I want to eat steamed egg custard too."

"How old are you? Still fighting with your sister for food. She's younger than you, right? This fragrant rice and meat can't shut you up."

Jiang Damin muttered a few words silently as he ate his rice.

Jiang Ermin returned with the wine, and Lin Jianguo took it from him, poured a glass for Jiang Heping, and the two of them drank it with the food.

Jiang Heping took a sip of the wine and felt that the taste was different from what he usually drank. He muttered, "This Jiang Kan is not doing business fairly. This wine is not as good as before. It tastes very weak."

Chen Xiuhua took a sniff: "Perhaps it's because the brewing time was too short? It smells pretty good to me."

Jiang Heping glared at him: "What do you know? I've been drinking all my life, do you think I can't tell the difference between good and bad?"

Seeing that the two elders were about to start arguing, Lin Jianguo quickly stopped them, saying, "Dad, I'll come again tomorrow and bring you some good wine, high-proof, I guarantee you'll drink to your heart's content."

"That's my good son-in-law! Come on, let's have another drink."

Jiang Ermin wiped his sweat, relieved that he had escaped unscathed. It turned out that he hadn't filled the container with the correct weight, so he had deducted one cent from the money and then added some water.

Is this how you usually do it? How come Grandpa noticed this time? Did he pour in too much water this time?

Jiang Ermin was completely baffled, but since he hadn't been caught, he ate his meal with peace of mind.

Er Ya had already seen through everything. Her second cousin was a man with a mind full of tricks, and she would have to be careful when dealing with him in the future.

Since it had nothing to do with her anyway, she pretended not to know and continued eating her meal with a clear conscience.

After eating a whole bowl of steamed egg custard and some rice, Er Ya patted her round belly, jumped off the stool, and ran off to look at her snails.

Jiang Damin quickly finished his meal and chased after Er Ya. If he stayed at the table for another minute, his mother would definitely nag him again, so it was better to stay away.

Seeing Er Ya lying next to the bucket, looking at it intently, Jiang Damin walked over casually and glanced at the water in the bucket, which had already turned black.

In surprise, she asked, "Wow, is all of this from snails? The water I just changed was clean."

"Cousin, you shouldn't use the word 'pull'. This is all the stuff that the snails spit out. Once they've emptied their stomachs, they taste really good."

"How long would it take to vomit like that? And there's so little of it. How about I go and scoop some more out now, a lot more, so you can have your fill?"

Er Ya thought about it and agreed. Anyway, she had eaten her fill and had nothing else to do. She smiled and took Jiang Damin's hand, saying, "Cousin, let me go with you. I can help you carry things. I'm very strong."

Jiang Damin looked at Er Ya's small frame with disdain: "You? I could knock you down with just one finger. Fine, come along if you want. I'll go tell my mother so she won't throw another tantrum."

When I told Wang Meili, she absolutely refused: "You little rascal, taking your sister with you, how can I feel at ease? No way, you can just play in the yard for a while, you'll have to go to school soon."

Jiang Damin whined to Wang Meili, "Mom, please let us go, I beg you."

"No, if you say one more word, you'll get beaten up."

Jiang Damin stormed up to Er Ya and said plaintively, "My mother won't let me go. She's afraid I'll lose you. What should I do?"

Er Ya gave him a "watch me" look, then wobbled over to Wang Meili and said pitifully, "Auntie, I'm so bored, can I go out for a walk?"

"You want to go out? Let your brother Da Min take you out to play."

"Auntie, I want to go to the riverbank, is that alright?"

"But……".

Jiang's mother chimed in, "Sister-in-law, just let them go. Er Ya isn't as simple as you think. I don't usually interfere with her at home. In fact, she's more reliable than Damin."

Jiang Damin said plaintively in the courtyard, "Auntie, you were speaking too loudly, I heard everything."

No one paid him any attention, which made him so angry that he squatted down on the ground: "Hmph, I'm going to draw a circle and curse you all so that you won't be able to eat meat for a day."

Since her own mother had spoken, Wang Meili couldn't keep stopping her. Still worried, she instructed Damin, "You have to keep a close eye on Er Ya. She's your aunt and uncle's precious daughter. If anything happens to her, you'll see how I deal with you when we get back."

"Okay, okay, I'll keep an eye on her, alright? I don't even know who your real child is."

"I wish I had never given birth to you. You said you would be half as worry-free as your brother."

Jiang Damin had heard this so many times that his ears were calloused. He silently rolled his eyes, picked up the bucket, took Er Ya's hand, and went out.

"Ugh, I'm so annoyed by my mom's nagging. I can finally get some fresh air."
