Chapter Twenty-One: Mother Has a Job

"Cousin, how about this? We'll hire Auntie as the head chef of the restaurant and teach the chefs here. Once they've learned, Auntie won't have to do any work; she'll just need to direct the chefs." Liu Jingyu saw that Er Ya's family wasn't well-off, and giving Auntie a job would ease their burden.

"Yes, that's another way! How come I didn't think of that? You're so quick-witted, little brother."

“Auntie, how about this? I’ll give you fifty yuan a month and send a car to pick you up in the morning and take you back in the evening. I definitely won’t let you get tired. Once you’ve taught the chef how to cook, you can rest. After you give birth to the baby, you can come back here whenever you want.”

Jiang's mother was somewhat tempted. If she could earn money, others would respect her. But could she really do it?

"Oh, Auntie, what are you hesitating for? You don't know yet, do you? Er Ya has shares in this restaurant now. In other words, you're the owners of this restaurant too. You teach the chefs here, and if the business is good, you'll get more money. Don't hesitate, just decide on it!" Qian Lu said anxiously. He had finally found a savior, and he couldn't let him get away.

What? She just cooked a meal and this huge restaurant is hers? Jiang's mother looked at Er Ya. What had this little girl done now? Er Ya stuck out her tongue and silently said, "I'll tell you when we get home."

Jiang's mother looked at Lin Jianguo again, asking for his opinion on whether it was feasible.

Lin Jianguo said, "Honey, if you want to do it, then do it. I support you. Don't worry about things at home. Leave everything to me. You can rest assured."

Er Ya poked her little head out and said, "Me too. Dad and I will definitely keep the house in perfect order so you won't have to worry, Mom."

Alright, let's do it. With their support, what am I afraid of? I nodded in agreement.

Qian Lu was overjoyed. This trip was really worth it. He got a great chef and met Er Ya. With Er Ya's ideas, he could roll up his sleeves and work hard.

Er Ya then gave Qian Lu some more details, such as making several menus so that customers could choose what to eat at their seats, and finding a few quick-witted waiters who would speak enthusiastically, unlike the waiters at state-run restaurants.

Qian Lu decided to temporarily close the business for a few days, and then reopen it in a grand and bustling manner after everything was sorted out and the publicity was done.

After agreeing on when to pick up Jiang's mother the next day, Er Ya and the others decided to go home. The piglets they bought were still in the basket, and they would have a lot to do when they got home.

Liu Jingyu said unhappily, "Er Ya, you've been so busy talking to my cousin all day that we haven't had a proper chat. I'm leaving soon."

Er Ya stepped forward to comfort Liu Jingyu: "Little brother, come find me when you pick up my mother tomorrow. I'll take you up the mountain to play. The mountains where we live are so much fun. You can take the car back after you drop my mother off this afternoon, okay?"

The young man has always been very good to me. Because of him, I was able to get shares. Otherwise, Qian Lu wouldn't have given me shares if I were just a little girl.

If Qian Lu knew what Er Ya was thinking, he would definitely cry: "Am I really that bad in this little girl's eyes?"

Upon hearing this, Liu Jingyu was overjoyed: "Great! You wait for me, I'll bring you something delicious tomorrow."

After Er Ya was really leaving, Liu Jingyu instructed the driver to take them home.

She said to Qian Lu, "Cousin, isn't Er Ya really that good? When I first saw her, I felt really bad seeing her cry. I wanted to protect her and never let her shed a tear."

Qian Lu patted Liu Jingyu on the shoulder: "What do you know, you little kid? But this little girl is really good." He had a feeling that this little girl would be his lucky star and help him become the world's richest man.

Liu Jingyu said angrily, "How could I not understand? I understand! I like her. When I grow up, I will marry her and treat her well for the rest of my life."

"You little brat who hasn't even grown a beard yet, and you're already thinking about getting married? Hahahaha."

Er Ya was looking at the scenery outside the window. Last time she was on the bus, she was too busy sleeping to take a good look at the outside. The roads were all dirt roads at this time, and the bus kicked up a cloud of dust as it drove by. After a while, she lost interest. There was nothing to see except trees and dirt. Just as she was about to close the window, she suddenly saw a figure in front of her.

"Mom, look at that person, isn't that Lin Xiao from our village?"

Jiang's mother glanced at the little figure outside the window. It was a five or six-year-old child wearing clothes with cotton showing through, the color of which was no longer discernible. It was unclear how many times the clothes had changed hands. It was indeed the child of Lin Shitou's family in the village.

Er Ya saw Lin Xiao carrying a large basket on his back, his shoes were so thick that his toes were sticking out, and his feet were covered in blisters. She quickly called out, "Brother Lin Xiao, why don't you ride in our car?"

Lin Xiao was walking slowly, the bright sun making it hard to open his eyes. He was hungry and thirsty when he suddenly heard someone calling him. Was he hallucinating? He ignored it and continued walking.

"Brother Lin Xiao, didn't you hear me calling you?"

Lin Xiao turned his head and saw a car parked in front of him. What was this thing? It had four wheels. At that moment, a little girl got out of it.

Upon closer inspection, he recognized her as Uncle Lin's daughter, Er Ya. He had seen her once before when Lin Jinbao bullied her, making her lie on the ground and bark like a dog. The young girl, seeing how pitiful she was, had stepped in to help her, which incurred the wrath of Lin Jinbao and his gang, who then secretly sabotaged him.

The girl in front of him was pulling him towards the top, but Lin Xiao waved his hand repeatedly, saying, "No need, I'll be home soon, it'll just get all dirty."

"Come on up, Brother Lin Xiao, hurry up, the driver can't wait any longer."

Jiang's mother also came down and called out, "Lin Xiao, right? Come on up quickly. It's sunny now, and it will take you an hour to walk here."

Unable to delay any longer, Lin Xiao could only get into the car: "Uncle, Aunt, Er Ya, thank you."

"Look at you, child, why are you being so polite with us? You haven't eaten yet, have you?" As she spoke, she took a steamed bun from the basket and handed it to Lin Xiao. This was bought for Er Ya to eat that night; she liked to eat this.

Lin Xiao quickly waved his hand: "No, Auntie, I've already eaten. You can take it."

"Brother, just take it and eat it. I can hear your tummy growling, hehehe."

Lin Xiao blushed immediately. He hadn't eaten since last night. His younger brother had fallen, and his mother said he had pushed him, so she punished him by not letting him eat for a day.
