Chapter 156 Going Home

"This is my home, of course I have to come back. Mom, let's not eat here. Go home and make me some noodles. I want to eat those."

Niu looked reluctantly at the meat on the table, feeling extremely unwilling to leave. However, seeing her son's expression of fear towards that brat Er Ya, she was also afraid that her son, who had finally dared to come back, would be scared away by this girl again.

She patted Lin Jinbao's hand reassuringly, then quickly went to the table where she was sitting. She grabbed two steamed buns, stuffed them full of meat, and even ate a few more. Seeing that there wasn't much meat left on the table, she came back satisfied and took Lin Jinbao's hand, saying:

“Come on, son, we don’t care about their food, let’s go home and eat.”

No one stopped them from leaving. Seeing that the girl still looked apologetic, Lin Jianguo smiled and said, "It's alright, you can sit with your mother. There are still some guests who haven't been seated yet. You can eat again later."

Looking at Junzi's face, Lin Jianfang said, "I've finally managed to come home, so let's go see my sister-in-law and nephew first. Junzi, why don't you sit here for a bit?"

Junzi didn't even turn his head, but arrogantly nodded and said, "Hurry up and come back, I don't have the patience to wait for you for long."

Lin Jianfang nodded gratefully, took Er Ya's hand and said, "This must be Er Ya, you've grown so tall. Can you show me your mother?"

"Okay, Auntie."

As Lin Jianfang walked, she observed Er Ya's new home. It looked even more impressive than their previous house. It seemed that her second brother wasn't as bad as her mother had said, being kicked out of the house with nothing. Last time when she came to their house to send Lin Jinbao, she had scolded Er Ya's family severely, saying that Er Ya was vicious and that she would send her cousin to the police station.

As a daughter who has married out of the family, she couldn't really say anything, but after spending some time with Lin Jinbao, she realized that the child was indeed a bit out of line.

It's one thing for him to sleep until noon every day, but you can't say anything to him about his temper. If you do, he'll get angry. Ever since Junzi took him to a restaurant once, he's been complaining every day that the food is bad and that he wants to go to a restaurant again.

She was already looked down upon by her in-laws because she hadn't had children after several years of marriage. Her younger brother was one thing, but he only came back once a week. Now, with another "ancestor" to take care of every day, she was looked down upon even more by her in-laws.

Today, Junzi took the opportunity to cause trouble, insisting that she hadn't done this or that properly, delaying her arrival until now. Before leaving, he bluntly told her to hurry up and send Lin Jinbao back, saying that their Lin family's ancestor shouldn't have to serve them.

After going around in circles, I was in a terrible situation, not liking anyone. Lin Jinbao was still complaining that he didn't want to come back, saying that his family was no good and that he insisted on staying at his aunt's house for a while longer. It took me a lot of coaxing to get him to come back. Just thinking about it made me feel exhausted.

"Forget it, all that's in the past," Lin Jianfang forced a smile, knowing she couldn't possibly look gloomy in front of her sister-in-law.

"Jianfang, you're back? I was just asking why your second brother hadn't seen you."

Lin Jianfang said apologetically, "Second sister-in-law, I'm so sorry, we rushed here but we're still late. This must be my little nephew, he's so chubby."

She happily took the baby and held him in her arms, reluctant to let go. She had always loved children, but unfortunately, she hadn't been able to conceive in the two or three years since she got married. She was always envious when she saw other people's children.

Seeing how much she liked Xiaobao, Jiang's mother jokingly said, "Sister, you like children so much, why don't you ask Junzi for one?"

Upon hearing this, Lin Jianfang's expression dimmed, and she said self-deprecatingly, "I want to too, but I don't know why, I just can't get pregnant. I don't know if it's because I can't have children."

Er Ya quite liked this aunt. She didn't seem like Old Lady Shen's child at all, but rather resembled Lin Jianguo a bit. Seeing that she looked unhappy, Er Ya stepped forward with a smile to comfort her: "Aunt, maybe it's just that the time hasn't come yet. When the time is right, you will definitely have a very cute child."

The childish voice amused Lin Jianfang. She gently stroked Er Ya's hair and said softly, "They say children's words are more accurate. I hope I'll have good news soon, and then Auntie will give you a gift."

At this point, Lin Jianfang took out the prepared baby clothes and handed them to Jiang's mother: "Second sister-in-law, I don't have anything good to offer, but I made this outfit for the baby. You can change the baby into it later."

"His clothes are all clothes, how can you spend money on them?"

Lin Jianfang put the clothes on the bed: "No matter how many clothes Second Sister-in-law has, they weren't bought by Aunt. Take them. Also, here's five yuan. Ask Second Brother to buy you some good food to nourish your body. You've suffered."

Jiang's mother declined the money, saying, "I'll take the clothes, but you can't take the money. I know you're not having an easy time either, and it might take you a long time to save up this little bit of money."

"Take this, Second Sister-in-law. It's a small token of my appreciation. I can't stay here any longer. Second Sister-in-law, you should rest well. I'll head out now."

She then asked Er Ya with a smile, "Auntie is going out now. Er Ya, are you going to stay here with your mother, or are you going back with Auntie?"

Er Ya looked at Jiang's mother, shook her head and said, "Auntie, you go eat first. I've already eaten. I'll stay here and play with my little brother for a while."

Lin Jianfang didn't dare stay there for long either. It would be embarrassing if Junzi caused a scene. She said goodbye to Jiang's mother and left.

After sitting down at the table, before he could even exchange a few pleasantries with his mother, Junzi said impatiently, "What's wrong with you? You've been gone for so long. Didn't I tell you to come back as soon as you got there?"

Lin Jianfang tensed up and explained in a low voice, "I talked with my second sister-in-law for a few more minutes and didn't pay attention to the time."

"You better remember what you should and shouldn't say, or I'll hear any rumors about you later, or you'll be in trouble. Hurry up and eat, then go home."

"Oh, I know. I didn't tell my second sister-in-law anything. We were just chatting about everyday things."

The first group of people had almost finished eating and began to leave one after another, so the second group of people could come and eat. Grandma Shen remained calm and continued to sit there with Lin Jianfang and his wife, showing no intention of getting up.

She wouldn't leave, so I couldn't just go up and urge her to leave; that would be too ugly. I could only pretend I didn't see her and not get angry with her.

"Er Ya, come here for a moment, I have something to tell you."

Qian Lu stood at the door, hesitant to come in. He called out loudly to Er Ya, raising his voice to make sure she heard him: "Did you hear me?"
