Chapter 167 Door-to-Door Visit

After explaining the whole story to Gou Dan'er and Li Taohua, he solemnly bid them farewell.

The father and son got into the car and headed towards the town. On the way, Lin Xiao said that there was one more thing. His godparents had been very good to him, and he had to go see them before he left. Actually, he also wanted to say goodbye to Er Ya.

Xiao Bao was a bit picky about his bed last night. He never cries, but he cried all night, keeping Er Ya awake. Finally, as dawn broke, Xiao Bao fell asleep, and Er Ya happily went back to sleep.

She was dreaming when her mother woke her up. She saw the girl on the bed slightly move her eyelashes, and then fall silent again.

After a while, she finally managed to open her eyes with difficulty. The glaring sunlight made her feel very uncomfortable, and she subconsciously closed her eyes again, then tried to open them slowly again.

Then, she finally opened her eyes, her gaze hazy from sleep. She looked at the weather outside, then weakly raised her hand and rubbed her eyes—this time she was finally fully awake.

"Mom, I just fell asleep, why did you wake me up? I wanted to sleep a little longer."

Jiang's mother said mysteriously, "Look outside and see who's here."

Who is it that's disturbing my sleep so early in the morning? Er Ya reluctantly got dressed and slowly went out into the hall.

A man sat on the stool with jet-black, straight hair, sharply angled eyebrows, long, narrow, piercing black eyes, thin, slightly pursed lips, and a sharply defined profile. He was tall and slender but not rugged, like an eagle in the night, aloof and arrogant yet domineering, exuding an air of dominance over the world.

Putting aside his imposing presence, this guy looks exactly like a giant version of Lin Xiao!

She ran up to Lin Xiao and whispered, "Brother Lin Xiao, this person looks just like you. Are you related to him?"

Lin Xiao held her little hand and pointed at Lin Hai, saying, "Er Ya, let me introduce you. This is my dad, my biological dad."

"Huh?" Er Ya looked at Lin Hai in astonishment again. With these appearances, no one would believe they weren't father and son.

Knowing that the handsome man in front of her was Lin Xiao's father, Er Ya understood why Lin Shitou treated him this way.

She greeted Lin Hai sweetly, "Hello, Uncle. My name is Lin Xi, and my family calls me Er Ya."

Lin Hai's eyes lit up when he saw that the girl had a radiant complexion, skin as smooth as snow, and a small dimple on her oval face, with a hint of shyness.

Her voice was extremely sweet and clear, making people feel indescribably comfortable upon hearing it. The girl was about five or six years old, with a gentle face and a delicate appearance.

He took a liking to the little girl at first sight, and when Lin Xiao told him about how kind Er Ya's family was to him on the way, he was even more moved. He felt in his pocket and realized he didn't have any snacks with him, so he took out a few bills: "Uncle came in a hurry and didn't bring you anything good to eat. Here's some money, go buy some, okay?"

If his subordinates heard their boss speak so gently, they would definitely think there was something wrong with their eyes.

Er Ya refused, saying, "My mother said that one should not accept money without merit, and one should not take other people's money casually."

"Your uncle gave this to you, so just take it. I don't know what you kids like, so it's more convenient to give you money and let you choose for yourself."

Although Lin Xiao hadn't spent much time with Lin Hai, he sensed that Lin Hai was probably a wealthy man. Seeing that Er Ya still didn't want it, he said, "Er Ya, my dad gave it to you, so just take it. I often eat your food."

Lin Xiao spoke up, and Er Ya had no choice but to accept the money. Lin Jianguo had gone out to buy things and wasn't home. There were only a few waiters and cashier Xiao Wang in the restaurant.

Jiang's mother, who was standing nearby, understood what was going on and, holding her baby, called out to them, "Lin Xiao, has your dad eaten yet? I'll have them cook some dishes for you."

Seeing the various things they took out of the car, she said, "Why did you bring so much stuff to your godmother's place? We don't need anything."

“These were all bought by my dad. He said he was grateful to you for taking me in at the beginning.”

Lin Hai said cheerfully, "You must be Lin Xiao's godmother. I heard him say that he's praised you a lot along the way. It's all thanks to you that I don't know if I would have been able to see this child. It's not much, just a small token of our appreciation."

He glanced at Xiao Bao in Jiang's mother's arms, then took out a wad of cash from his pocket and placed it in Xiao Bao's hand: "It's not right to come empty-handed when you first meet a child. Take this and buy the child some food and drink."

"This won't do," Jiang's mother said, refusing to accept it no matter what.

"I see you're younger than me, so I'll take the liberty of calling you 'sister-in-law.' There's no custom of not giving a red envelope the first time you visit a child; it's a rule passed down from our ancestors."

Since things had already been said, Jiang's mother had no choice but to accept it. She invited them to sit down and then went to the kitchen to order more delicious dishes.

Er Ya pulled Lin Xiao aside and whispered, "Brother Lin Xiao, are you going to leave with Uncle?"

Lin Xiao nodded and said, "Yes, my dad said I'm already of school age but I haven't started school yet, so I've fallen behind quite a bit. He'll ask someone to send me to school when the time comes."

Er Ya was a little reluctant to see him go. Although they had moved to town, they would still see Lin Xiao. If Lin Xiao left today, she didn't know when she would see him again.

Seeing Er Ya looking at him with reluctance, Lin Xiao paused and then said, "I will come back to see you... to see you all when I have time."

At first, he didn't want to leave, but Lin Hai was right. What future could a boy have if he stayed in this small village all the time? He had a huge family business that needed someone to inherit it. He could train Lin Xiao now so that he could take over his business later.

Lin Xiao thought about it and agreed. He liked Er Ya, and since he had decided to marry her when he grew up, he should study hard so that she could have a good life. They couldn't just be farming when they grew up.

Moreover, he had observed that Er Ya had become quite ambitious over the past few months. Given this, he needed to make himself more successful so that Er Ya wouldn't look down on him when she grew up.

He had always disliked that rich second-generation Liu Jingyu, but since he was rich, he could use that as a starting point to get close to Er Ya, which would make him even richer than Liu Jingyu.

They are still young, and they have a long time ahead of them. This brief separation is for a better reunion.

"Er Ya, how about this, you can come with us and go to the same school."

Lin Hai heard this and said, "Yes, Er Ya, come with us. I'll find you a place to stay."
