"When did I agree to take you out to play?" Zhao Shu asked helplessly.
"Last time, I didn't care, since you already agreed."
Just as the two were debating whether to agree or not, they arrived at Lanxi Town. The inn quickly replaced the tables, chairs, couplets, bedding, bowls, and chopsticks, but Granny Zhong and the others still washed everything again and replaced the Empress Dowager's things in the carriage. They also laid a carpet on the ground before respectfully inviting the Empress Dowager to get off the carriage.
Officials along the way received the imperial decree but did not come over. However, the magistrate of the county where Lanxi Town is located still led a group of officials to respectfully welcome her in Lanxi Town. The Empress Dowager, despite her exhaustion, received the magistrate and then went to wash up.
Zhao Shu and Sun Yun shared a room. After they had both washed up, they were about to go to pay their respects to the Empress Dowager when Ji Yun stopped them. Ji Yun curtsied and said, "Princess, Miss Sun, the Empress Dowager has retired for the night."
Sun Yun glanced at Zhao Shu sympathetically and shrugged, "Look, you still have to coax her."
Throughout the journey, Zhao Shu had not been able to have a proper conversation with the Empress Dowager. The Empress Dowager often avoided her, and Zhao Shu knew that her grandmother was still angry.
The two met with a setback and stood listlessly in the corridor. Huo Guxian walked over, his little hand still being held by Huo Baichuan. "Sister Ajun, Sister Sun, Xian greets you both."
The adorable little boy Huo Guxian was well-behaved, while Huo Baichuan looked at the two of them with an unruly air. Zhao Shu and Sun Yun exchanged a glance and, as if on cue, put on their veils.
"I heard there's a Yipinju restaurant in Lanxi Town. It's different from the one in the capital; it serves local dishes. Would you two like to go together? It's on me, Lord Wei."
