Before he could finish speaking, Huo Baichuan interrupted him, "Aren't you leaving?" He raised the licorice in his hand, as if to hit Little Fatty.
The chubby boy covered his face with his hands and turned his body slightly to the side, as if he was extremely afraid that Huo Baichuan would hit him with licorice. "This servant will wait for you outside, young master. Please be sure to use the front gate later. This servant will be waiting for you at the front gate." He repeatedly told him, showing that he was extremely worried.
He spoke as he retreated, and soon left Qionghua Courtyard.
The three of them ate in silence and finished eating in no time. After Huo Danlan finished eating, Zhao Shu helped her walk around under the wisteria to help her digest.
Huo Baichuan sat on the swing watching the two walk and chat. He had seen the prescription written by Zhao Shu last night. It stated that the disease was just an iodine deficiency. He didn't know what iodine was, but as long as it existed in the world, the Huo family could find it.
After digesting their food, it was getting late. Huo Danlan stayed at Qionghua Courtyard, while Huo Baichuan stayed at another courtyard. As night fell, he flicked his wide sleeves and prepared to leave.
However, after looking left and right, he felt that every road seemed to lead out. He sighed and wondered if his inability to find his way around could be cured; it seemed that there was no cure for it.
"Little Fatty, Little Fatty." He called twice, but Little Fatty didn't respond.
Zhao Shu asked suspiciously, "Mr. Huo, is there something you need?"
Huo Danlan knew his problem well, and wrapped her face mask around her again. "Let me take you out."
"Now that I have an elder sister," Huo Baichuan gave Huo Danlan a big smile, jumped off the swing, and followed behind her without looking back.
As soon as the two left, Xiao Zhuzi came in. "Your Highness, I have found out that all the noble ladies and gentlemen in the capital received invitations for Princess Zirou's birthday. Miss Lin from the Lin family also received an invitation, as did Princess Liuli and others."
Zhao Shu pondered for a moment, then smiled and said, "Princess Zirou is my cousin. It's her birthday, so I should go and offer my congratulations. You should have Chuchun prepare a generous gift so as not to disrespect the Prince's Mansion."
Xiao Zhu lowered his head and responded. Zhao Shu then instructed him to keep a close watch on each residence and report any suspicious activity immediately before letting him leave.
As Xiao Guozi entered, he happened to run into Xiao Zhuzi who was leaving. The two exchanged a brief glance before passing each other. "Princess, Yang Quan wishes to see you."
Before leaving the capital, Mo Qin handed over some of the affairs of his household to Xiao Guozi, including Yang Quan.
"It wouldn't hurt to go see him." She regretted sparing Yang Quan's life back then. As it turned out, without Yang Quan as the leader of the assassins, Yang Zhong was not worried at all and had not been able to fundamentally dismantle the Yang family's assassins. However, she suddenly remembered something that Yang Quan might be of use to her.
"Yes," Xiao Guozi replied, leading the way to the training ground. The buildings surrounding the training ground included not only the soldiers' dormitories but also armories and storage rooms.
Tang Gang left Wu Feng to keep watch, while Xiao Guozi led Zhao Shu to the room where weapons were kept. The room was filled with a dense array of broadswords, scimitars, and spears. These were mostly abandoned weapons that had not been used for a long time and were covered in rust.
"The person is just left here?" Looking around, there were weapons scattered haphazardly throughout the room. However, Xiao Guozi moved a pile of discarded weapons aside, revealing a large wooden barrel. The barrel was submerged in the pile of weapons and could not be seen at all if the discarded weapons were not moved.
After the wooden bucket was exposed, Zhao Shu walked over and saw Yang Quan, who was tightly bound and still unconscious.
“Get him out,” Zhao Shu said.
Xiao Guozi knocked the wooden bucket over, and the violent impact woke up the unconscious Yang Quan. He lay in the bucket, slowly opened his eyes, and his gaze met Zhao Shu's downcast gaze.
These days, he is only awake when eating; otherwise, he is in a deep sleep, as if he has no idea what year it is.
"Kill me!" he roared at Zhao Shu. His words were extremely frightening, but they were somewhat muffled because his mouth was bound with cloth.
Zhao Shu kicked his tightly bound body and snorted coldly, "Kill you? That's no fun. This princess just loves to see you begging for death. What, are you angry? When you went to the East Gate to kill people, why didn't you think of this day?"
Yang Quan looked away from Zhao Shu. He wanted to grit his teeth and commit suicide, but his mouth was tied with a cloth, so he couldn't bite his tongue off.
"You'd better kill me now! Otherwise, I won't let you go!"
Xiao Guozi kicked Yang Quan, "Show some respect when you speak to the princess. Do you think this is the Yang residence? Even if it were, you wouldn't be allowed to speak like that."
"I heard you were looking for me," Zhao Shu said lazily, finding a spot where she could see Yang Quan's expression clearly. Xiao Guozi quickly brought over a low stool, spread a handkerchief on it, and let Zhao Shu sit down to talk.
"Seeing you is just asking you to kill me!" Yang Quan's face was ashen, and his veins were bulging. He had spent decades living on the edge of a knife, crawling out of piles of corpses countless times, only to end up in the hands of a child.
He was indignant, resentful, and felt deeply humiliated!
Zhao Shu smiled faintly, stood up and walked to Yang Quan's side, looking at him. Yang Quan turned his head away, so she reached out and pinched Yang Quan's chin, forcing him to look at her.
"Yang Quan, I won't kill you. I'll make you wish you were dead, that's when I'll be happy." She said it as if it were something extremely ordinary.
This nonchalant, playful attitude sent chills down Yang Quan's spine. This was no little child; it was clearly a demon, a monster!
"Why! Why!" He was going crazy. These people didn't torture him or try to extract information. They just locked him up and provided him with three meals a day. If he didn't eat, they would force-feed him. After he ate, they would knock him unconscious or put drugs in his food, making him drowsy and delirious all day long.
