Chapter 17 Divorce

Zhao Shu laughed and handed her the finished drawing, saying, "Take this to Ayun and take a look at your distant relatives while you're at it."

"This servant has no distant relatives," Green Ivy corrected seriously, but Shengxia and the others had already burst into laughter. Seeing everyone laughing, she realized that the distant relative Zhao Shu was referring to was the parrot.

She wanted to emphasize to Zhao Shu again that she was not a distant relative of the parrot, and that she had come in early spring, with a young man standing outside the door.

"Princess, the person has arrived." Chu Chun bowed and stood to the side.

Zhao Shu glanced at Sheng Xia and said, "We'll be going to Chamei Mountain to see the camellias in a few days, so go and make preparations so we don't end up in a rush."

"Yes, we will take our leave." Without asking any further questions, the servants bowed their heads and withdrew.

After everyone had left, Zhao Shucai said to Chuchun, "Let him in."

Upon receiving Chu Chun's message, Zhuang Erdan bowed and entered the room. As soon as he entered, he knelt down at Zhao Shu's feet, saying, "This servant Zhuang Erdan greets the Princess."

"Did I tell you about Xinwei's situation in early spring?" Zhao Shu asked directly, without beating around the bush.

Zhuang Erdan kept his head down. "Aunt Chuchun has already told me that I am willing to marry Sister Xinwei and will never betray her. I beg Your Highness to grant my request."

Xinwei was Zhao Shu's second-class maid. In the past, regardless of age, all maids and servants below the second class would call her "elder sister".

Something seemed off about what she was saying, so Zhao Shu asked again, "Did Chu Chun tell you the truth?"

“Your Highness, I have said that I will treat that child as my own. If Sister Xinwei does not mind, I will never divorce her and will treat her well for the rest of my life. If Sister Xinwei does not wish to spend her life with me, I will never pester her. Please grant my request, Your Highness.” After he finished speaking, he kowtowed three times to Zhao Shu.

Zhao Shu couldn't tell whether these words were true or false. She dared not trust anyone in matters of the heart anymore, but now that Xinwei was pregnant, she had to get married.

She nodded without much hesitation.

Zhuang Erdan kowtowed three more times in delight, "Thank you, Princess, thank you, Princess."

"Let's change your name to something that sounds like 'Zhuang Erdan,' and you'll work for Xiao Zhuzi from now on." Over the years, Granny Zhuang hasn't gained Zhao Shu's favor, and Prince Yong doesn't interfere in affairs, so none of her relatives have gotten ahead.

Zhuang Erdan hurriedly thanked him, saying that being able to follow Xiao Zhuzi was better than him feeding horses all day long.
