Chapter 20 Nine Clans

Sun Yun entered his courtyard and found nothing wrong. He and Ban Shu went to find Xiao Guozi and Xiao Zhuzi to look for Zhao Shu. However, they encountered Huo Danlan on the way, which is why they were able to appear so quickly when Zhao Shu needed them.

Xiao Guozi and Xiao Zhuzi also had a mission. Wei Tingsi had sent a message saying that the Imperial Uncle had also come. Why was it specifically mentioned? Zhao Shu instinctively did not believe Hao Guojiu. Xiao Zhuzi's main task this time was to investigate the Imperial Uncle, while Xiao Guozi went to see Wei Tingsi.

Before coming, Zhao Shu was puzzled. Huo Danlan would not have invited her and Sun Yun to see the camellias. She had said that she would let her know when she wanted to go and she would bring them over. So she guessed that the Crown Prince must have come to Guanzhou.

How could she be so sure that the Crown Prince didn't go to the imperial palace after arriving in Guanzhou, but instead stayed at the Huo family's residence? This can be traced back to when Huo Baichuan gave her a cloak. Huo Baichuan was not the kind of person who would have private exchanges with a woman. She was still a child, so why would he give her a cloak? They weren't lovers, and he even repeatedly asked her what color she liked before giving her the cloak. Although this seemed normal, Zhao Shu had doubts when she received the cloak.

He had said before that he wouldn't get involved in the Crown Prince's affairs, so this unexpected move made Zhao Shu want to take a gamble. She was betting that Huo Baichuan was implying to her that he would help the Crown Prince, and that saying he wouldn't was the opposite of what he meant. Sure enough, the little fat boy didn't go to get married, but went to protect the Crown Prince.

Since the Crown Prince had come to Guanzhou, Wei Tingsi must have arrived as well. After entering the manor, Zhao Shu did not see Wei Tingsi, and alarm bells were already ringing in her mind. Since Green Luo and the others were too weak to even kill a chicken, they did not follow him to the courtyard where the Crown Prince was currently.

"No need for thanks. If His Highness the Crown Prince knew that I had also contributed to saving her, he might reward me with the position of female prime minister when he ascends the throne. Then I could be remembered for all time, wouldn't that be wonderful?" Sun Yun tried to appear relaxed to hide the terror and tension in her heart. She was terrified just now. The Sun family also had assassins secretly protecting her, but she still couldn't help but feel scared.

“If the Crown Prince wakes up and knows that you saved her, he will be very grateful.” Zhao Shu patted her arm. “Alright, go and rest. You’re all sweaty. Go take a bath and change your clothes so you don’t catch a cold.”

Upon hearing this, Sun Yun realized he was indeed a bit cold, and quickly instructed Ban Shu to prepare a bath and change of clothes.

After seeing Sun Yun off, Zhao Shu glanced around and, not seeing Huo Danlan, asked, "Where's Aunt?"

"Several servants of the Huo family died, and Miss Huo went to deal with it," said Xiao Zhuzi. Zhao Shu glanced at Xiao Zhuzi and Xiao Guozi and said calmly, "Speak."

Both men knew what Zhao Shu wanted to hear. They exchanged a glance, and Xiao Zhu spoke first. His voice was very low, and only a few people around Zhao Shu could hear him. "Princess, we have not found any evidence that the Imperial Uncle and the Imperial Father-in-law are colluding with foreign enemies. The two of them are now under our watch and are waiting for the Princess's decision."

Zhao Shu snorted coldly, "How dare they harm my brother! I'll find a handful of celestial herbs, boil them into a thick soup, and wait for them!" Zhao Shu clenched her fists, determined to make them regret ever being born!

"Yes." Xiao Zhuzi hurried off to do it. The princess was angry, and the only thing he could do was to calm her down. The best way to calm her down was to make those who harmed the crown prince wish they were dead.

After Xiao Zhuzi left, Zhao Shu looked at Xiao Guozi, who hurriedly said, "Princess, Lord Wei is seriously injured. Miss Huo and Mr. Ouyang went to see him after they entered the manor, and he is still unconscious."

"You've had the medicine?" Zhao Shu was somewhat surprised; Wei Tingsi was so badly injured.

“I used it,” Xiao Guozi said.

"Let's go take a look first."

"This servant will take you there," Xiao Guozi hurriedly led the way.

Zhao Shu instructed the stunned Green Ivy, "Go prepare hot water. I need to bathe and change when I get back."

"Yes, Princess." Green Ivy has become more and more composed. Although she is lively occasionally, she is generally developing in the direction that Zhao Shu wants.

Xiao Guozi held up an umbrella to shield Zhao Shu from the still-falling snowflakes. Zhi Hai followed at a distance, not saying a word, his feet crunching in the snow.

After walking for a while, Zhao Shu said to Zhi Hai, who was following behind her, "Thank you, Elder Hai."

"I dare not accept such praise; it is what a servant should do," Zhihai replied succinctly.

Zhao Shu pursed her lips and tentatively asked, "I wonder if Elder Hai could lend me a hand?"

"Please forgive me, Your Highness. My duty is to protect your safety. I am powerless to do anything else." Zhihai refused outright.

Zhao Shu was disappointed. She knew that Zhi Hai was not so easy to subdue, but she did not expect to succeed on the first try, so she said no more.

Before long, they arrived at the courtyard where Wei Tingsi was resting. From afar, they saw a man with a sword leaning against a pillar, not moving an inch even as snowflakes covered him.

As Zhao Shu approached, the man held the knife in his arms horizontally in front of her, without saying a word, but the meaning was clear: she could not go in.

"I've come to see Lord Wei," Zhao Shu said, revealing her identity as Princess Jun of the Yongwang Mansion.

However, the man remained motionless, not even glancing at Zhao Shu, his gaze fixed on the most powerful Zhi Hai, as if he would kill Zhi Hai immediately if he dared to make a move.

“Brave man.” Seeing that the man ignored Zhao Shu, Xiao Guozi quickly said in a very friendly manner, “Our princess knows Lord Wei and, upon learning that Lord Wei was injured, wanted to come and see him. Please let our princess pass.”

The man seemed annoyed and said curtly, "No!"

Xiao Guozi wanted to say something more, but Zhao Shu stopped him, saying, "Let's go see Lord Wei after he wakes up. Let's go find Marquis Zhongyong first."

Wei Tingsi's injury must be related to the Crown Prince. At this moment, his subordinates probably still resent her. After all, the Crown Prince can't help or care. It doesn't matter to them if the royal family fights until they are childless.
