Chapter 21 The Doctor

With nowhere else to turn for help, the little girl had no choice but to obediently put the tofu into the pot.

Put the lid on and turn up the heat.

Granny Qin's lips twitched. She wanted to say something to stop her, but in the end, she said nothing.

"Princess, what's next?" Bi Qiao asked this purely because she felt there was no more technical work to be done and wondered if it was time to go back.

A princess should only cook one dish; she shouldn't linger in a place like the kitchen.

"Bi Qiao, do you still have any goji berries in your household?" Zhao Shu remembered that Bi Qiao had a very serious cough that year. In those days, colds and coughs were not easy to cure. Later, Bi Qiao cured herself without medicine by eating goji berries.

Goji berries, also known as ground berries, have the effect of clearing heat and relieving cough. A few years later, she also suffered from a cold and cough. Bi Qiao took out goji berries and told her to soak them and drink them. She said that if she drank them for a long time, she would get better, but she did not listen.

Bi Qiao nodded, "Yes."

"Go and get a few."

After Bi Qiao left, the water had already boiled. "Now use medium-low heat."

Having shown off his skills, no one dared to object anymore, and the fire was immediately reduced from a large flame to a medium-small flame.

Zhao Shu didn't actually know how to control the fire, or how much firewood was considered a large fire and how much a medium fire.

It's not particularly far from the kitchen to Bi Qiao's place; it takes about twenty minutes round trip.

When Bi Qiao returned, the fish soup in the pot had turned completely white.

She brought a small bag of goji berries. Zhao Shu took seven or eight, washed them, put them in the pot, and covered it again.

When she saw that it was almost ready, she had someone bring a white porcelain bowl with blue and white handles to serve the fish and soup.

After making the fish soup, she didn't cook any other dishes. She used to never go into the kitchen, so it wouldn't make sense for her to suddenly be able to cook so many dishes. The sea bass soup was relatively simple, and she could answer any questions people might have.

After instructing Granny Qin and the others to prepare a few dishes, she returned to Chensong Courtyard.

Upon arriving at Chensong Courtyard, the maids she had sent to fetch the doctor had not yet returned, and Prince Yong had also gone to look for Wei Tingsi, who was not at Chensong Courtyard. She sat down in the lap, thinking about what to do next.

"Bi Qiao, let's go to the study."

"Sigh." Bi Qiao was loyal to the end, so she wouldn't ask any more questions.

Upon entering the study, she picked up a pen and wrote ten sheets of paper, each containing a prescription.

In modern times, she studied traditional Chinese medicine. Although she hasn't officially graduated and started working yet, she had a good memory when she was in school, and she could memorize practical books.

Her mentor often said that if you don't memorize the books and the medicinal properties of each herb, you might unintentionally harm people.

Prescribing the wrong medicine or prescribing the wrong medication is a common occurrence throughout history, and doctors must never be careless.

After the prescription was written down, someone came to report, "Princess, the doctor has already arrived."

The maidservant had practically begged the doctors to come, as everyone knew that Prince Yong had offended the head of the Imperial Medical Academy, and the doctors were not keen on dealing with him.

However, doctors are like parents, so they wouldn't really refuse to come to Prince Yong's mansion. Ten doctors were invited, which is almost a third of the doctors in the capital's medical clinics.

"Bi Qiao, go and make arrangements to take good care of these doctors and bring them to see me one by one."

Bi Qiao hesitated, "Princess, this..." She wanted to say that this would damage her reputation.

"It's alright, come in with me."

Bi Qiao had no choice but to go down and ask someone for help.

When the ten doctors met, they were all furious. "You Prince Yong's Mansion! You invited me and then invited my rival. Isn't this a slap in the face?"

They immediately started clamoring to leave, and the maids were at a loss. Just then, Bi Qiao walked over, and they clung to her like she was a lifeline.

"Sister Biqiao, please persuade the doctors."

As the head maid of the Prince's mansion, Bi Qiao was quite capable in her work. She walked over with a smile and curtsied to the doctors.

"Why not serve tea? These doctors are distinguished guests invited by our household. We must serve the finest tea, as well as the snacks bestowed by the palace. Please bring them up for your enjoyment."

The beautiful woman smiled and served them delicious food and drinks. Adhering to the principle that a good man doesn't argue with a woman, the men didn't clamor to leave immediately.

After drinking tea and eating snacks, someone couldn't help but ask, "May I ask, young lady, why has the Prince's residence summoned us here?"

"Yes, yes, we still have prescriptions to write at the clinic. If there's nothing else, we'll take our leave now."

The ten doctors, along with the apprentice, started arguing again, each talking at once.

Bi Qiao still smiled and said, "Doctors, please hear me out. I know that your skills are passed down in your families and not passed on to outsiders. The princess has already made arrangements for you to see her one by one. The fee will be three times the usual price for your prescriptions, how about that?"

As the head maid of the Prince's mansion, she was capable of making this decision.

A gentleman regards money as dirt, but who would deliberately turn down money? And it was such a beautiful and capable girl making the request, so all the doctors suppressed their displeasure and calmed down.

The first doctor to be called looked very unwell. He had come thinking that someone in the Prince Yong's residence was ill, which was why he had taken pity on him. However, upon arrival, he discovered that they had not only invited him but also other doctors.

"I wonder what instructions Your Highness has? I have other matters to attend to at my clinic. If Your Highness has nothing else to attend to, I will take my leave."

Capable people all have tempers; this has never changed throughout history.

Bi Qiao was furious and was about to say something when Zhao Shu interrupted her, saying, "This princess has something to give to the doctor. I wonder if it will be of any use to you."

She pointed to the prescription on the table.

The doctor glanced at it arrogantly, and after just one look, he was startled. He pointed at the prescription with trembling hands and asked, "This...this...may I ask you, Princess, where did you obtain this?"

"You don't need to know where I got this prescription from. Today I have a favor to ask of you. This prescription will be your reward, and of course, the consultation fee will also be substantial."

The old doctor was very interested. He had studied medicine all his life, and now that he saw the new prescription, he was like a lecherous man seeing a beautiful woman, unable to move his legs.

However, he hadn't lost his mind. He suppressed the urge to put the prescription in his pocket and asked, "I wonder what kind of help the princess needs from me? As long as I can help, I will do my best."

Zhao Shu smiled and said confidently, "You can definitely help, sir."

The old doctor stared intently at the prescription, but unfortunately, it was incomplete. Even if he had memorized the prescription, it wouldn't help because the words "The prescription is incomplete" were written at the bottom of the prescription.

I reminded him that if he didn't help, there would be no solution.

"Bi Qiao, take the doctor downstairs to rest for a while."

Knowing that Zhao Shu still needed to see other people, the old doctor stared at the prescription with resentment, "I wonder how many prescriptions the princess has?"

Zhao Shu understood what he meant. He was afraid that Zhao Shu would use one prescription as payment to get ten doctors to help her, which would be a loss for her.

"Doctor, please rest assured, I have ten different prescriptions here." She waved the Xuan paper in her hand.

The old doctor was relieved and cupped his hands in greeting to Zhao Shu, saying, "I will do my best to help the princess."

"Thank you very much."
