Chapter 24 Major Events

However, Zhao Shu was unwilling to do nothing and let him continue to limp like this.

"Even with your abilities, sir, it's not enough?" Zhao Shu asked.

Ouyang Ping admired Zhao Shu, but he couldn't understand her persistence. Given the Crown Prince's current situation, even his maternal relatives had given up, yet she hadn't.

If he had known that Zhao Shu and the Crown Prince, though of different statuses, shared similar fates, he would not have felt this way.

“The bones are misaligned, and repositioning them is not easy. I have sent a message by carrier pigeon to an old friend who should arrive in about three days. If the Crown Prince agrees, I will give it a try. However, I cannot guarantee that I can heal the Crown Prince’s leg. Please do not have too high hopes, Princess.” Ouyang Ping sighed. The Crown Prince was pitiful. He was of noble birth, yet he suffered so much. He had seen the Crown Prince yesterday. There were no fewer than a hundred wounds on the Crown Prince’s body, large and small, densely packed, all in places that could not be seen. He could not imagine what grudge or resentment could have been committed against the Crown Prince.

Having witnessed countless deaths, he still felt a chill run down his spine when he saw the Crown Prince's injuries. The Crown Prince was a man of great endurance, managing to hold on until now.

Zhao Shu was not in a position to lift the crown prince's robe to check, so she was unaware of the situation, and Ouyang Ping did not intend to tell Zhao Shu either.

"Please do your best, sir." Zhao Shuzhen bowed sincerely. Although she did not agree with sending a message by carrier pigeon at this time, since Ouyang Ping had already notified his friend and it was too late to stop him, she could only give up. "I have several bone-setting prescriptions here that you may refer to."

The old physician Peng had praised Zhao Shu to Ouyang Ping more than once. What was most noteworthy was that Zhao Shu had read many medical books and knew many prescriptions, all of which were extremely refined and unlike anything he had ever seen before.

Having said so much, and considering Zhao Shu's impressive display of skill at the Huo residence last time, Ouyang Ping was now extremely looking forward to it.

"Thank you, Princess." He cupped his hands in greeting. It was rare for someone to share a prescription, especially one that was extremely refined. For prescriptions for common ailments, no one would think of keeping them secret; they could just write down a prescription and let people get the medicine themselves. But truly exquisite prescriptions were always kept very well hidden.

After the two came out of the herb field, Sheng Xia and the others ground ink, and Zhao Shu began to write down the prescriptions that she had thought of countless times in her mind. These prescriptions were all good remedies for fractures.

Ouyang Ping was amazed when he read them. Each prescription was extremely ingenious, and they were accompanied by medicinal cuisine. All the taboos were clearly written down.

"The one who prepared this prescription is a genius." Ouyang Ping read through the prescription and came to this conclusion. Zhao Shu smiled but remained silent.

Having provided the prescription, Zhao Shu could offer no further assistance. She also wrote down the precautions and some emergency remedies from books before returning to Junhua Tower.

Upon arriving at Junhua Tower, the melodious strains of a zither drifted in, their notes delicate and lingering, like a clear, cool spring flowing over mountain rocks. A poem once wrote: "The sounds of silk and bamboo instruments fill the air in Chengdu, half carried by the river breeze, half rising into the clouds. Such music should only exist in heaven; how often can it be heard on earth?"

It was a bit of an exaggeration, but the music was truly beautiful. Zhao Shu unconsciously slowed her pace and walked up to the Drum Tower, where she saw Sun Yun casually playing the zither beside several camellia bushes.

The reason why Junhua Tower is called a tower is that all the buildings here are two stories or more, and the buildings are somewhat like low towers. The towers are not far apart and stand among camellias, so they seem to have been built for viewing.

The Crown Prince's residence is in the Drum Tower. Despite its name, it has nothing to do with drums. However, anyone familiar with Qimen Dunjia would recognize that the entire manor was built using the principles of Qimen Dunjia. When Zhao Shu first arrived, she was led to the Crown Prince's courtyard and found that there were too many forks in the road. Anyone walking alone for the first time would surely get lost.

The defense in this village is excellent.

After finishing the piece, Sun Yun stretched and noticed that Zhao Shu was sitting quietly listening to her play. She blushed involuntarily and stammered, "I can't help much, but I thought I'd play a piece for His Highness the Crown Prince to distract him."

Zhao Shu chuckled, "I didn't say anything, it's just that you usually don't show off, yet you can play so well, and I've never seen you practice so much."

Thinking back to his past life, he tried so hard to learn the arts of music, chess, calligraphy, and painting, but he practiced so much that his musical skills were probably no match for Sun Yun's.

Sun Yun pouted, "When I was at home, I was also forced to practice. My mother said that my piano skills would definitely bring shame to the Sun family, and I think so too. It's probably because no one forced me and I played willingly that you think it sounds good."

"I'm going to see my brother, the Crown Prince. Please don't be modest. I hope you'll play for him more often in the future. Music can indeed bring joy to the mind and body." After saying this, Zhao Shu walked to the door and knocked.

The Crown Prince had already heard Zhao Shu's voice. When there was a knock on the door, he called out, "Come in."

Before Zhao Shu could even push the door open, it opened, and Li Zhuo stood to the side, his eyes fixed straight ahead, though he secretly glanced at Zhao Shu out of the corner of his eye. Just a little kid, besides being a bit cute, what was so attractive about her? Miss Sun was much prettier, wasn't she…?

Seeing Li Zhuo, Zhao Shu nodded. With the guards from the Imperial Guard protecting him, she felt much more at ease. Although Hao Jie's men had been dealt with, there were still people who might know that the Crown Prince was here, especially the princes and princes' men, who would definitely do anything to get rid of the Crown Prince as soon as possible.

Presumably, their forces are searching the world for the prince.

We need to find a new place for the Crown Prince before we can be completely at ease. Hopefully, Hao Zi and his son haven't revealed their whereabouts to anyone else.

Upon entering the inner room, the Crown Prince lay on the bed, his face still haggard, though he had regained some color. His gaze fell on his still slightly trembling hands, and a dark cloud immediately appeared on Zhao Shu's face. She hoped there would be no aftereffects, otherwise she would definitely cripple and kill the entire Hao family to vent her hatred!
