Chapter 26 Emotions

Zhao Yi chuckled, his voice filled with self-mockery and desolation, "My lord still has a chance, but I don't. I never had a chance from beginning to end."

"You're right not to marry her; you can't control her," Huo Baichuan said as he drank.

"And what about the master?" Zhao Yi asked.

Two heartbroken people, when they are together, will always have things to talk about, always feel a sense of sympathy for each other, and always share the same pain.

Huo Baichuan swallowed a mouthful of wine; it was a bit spicy, and he almost coughed, but he held it in. "I... I don't want to control her."

Zhao Yi didn't understand, but didn't ask. Huo Baichuan, however, wanted to say, "I won't revolve around her, and she won't revolve around me, do you understand? A relationship between two people isn't something that can be built on a momentary impulse."

"Why can't you even let yourself have a moment of impulse?" Zhao Yi was already a little drunk. After saying this, he continued, "Impulsiveness is wrong. A man should take responsibility."

So, if you can't take responsibility, why bother getting involved?

Huo Baichuan didn't reply. He just kept drinking in silence. As he drank, he saw Zhao Yi slumped over the stone table. He stood up and staggered back. Suddenly, Little Fatty appeared, carrying a chair.

He sat in the chair and soon disappeared from the Seventh Prince's residence.

The garden fell silent instantly. Qiu Tong brought over a cloak and gently covered Zhao Yi with it. She didn't want to disturb him, but she was afraid he would catch a cold.

She knew that men didn't like others seeing them in a disheveled state, so after draping the cloak over Zhao Yi, she prepared to leave.

However, Zhao Yi grabbed his hand, and he mumbled in a daze, "I'm sorry, stay with me for a while."

At this moment, Zhao Yi's mind was perfectly clear, but his nerves were numbed by alcohol, and he couldn't move. Because he couldn't move, he was afraid that he wouldn't be able to catch up with Qiu Tong, afraid that she would be sad, and afraid that she would do something rash.

Ultimately, she was his wife, and he had to take responsibility for her.

Qiu Tong stood beside him, letting him hold her hand, tears falling one by one onto Zhao Yi's hand. His heart ached for a moment, and then he said, "It won't happen again."

"Your Highness, you don't need to explain to me, I understand everything," Qiu Tong said softly.

'I can wait, wait until you forget me, wait until you see me again. I will always stand by your side, never leaving you.'

She didn't say those words aloud, but kept them silently in her heart, and they remained unchanged for a lifetime.
