Chapter 26 Objectives

When Zhao Shu arrived at Xuefangzhai on the cliff, a number of people had already gathered in the corridor and courtyard. Upon seeing her, they all retreated, as if trying to avoid her.

Qiu Tong and Yan Ruyu rushed over and took her arms, one on each side. "Ah Jun, the Tenth Prince is probably not going to make it," Qiu Tong said.

"Has the imperial physician been summoned? Which imperial physician has arrived?" Zhao Shu asked without stopping, heading straight for the tightly closed door.

"Several physicians have come, even the chief physician." Yan Ruyu recalled the uproar the imperial physicians had caused earlier and realized that the Tenth Prince was probably in serious trouble.

Prince Yong and the Crown Prince were both present. Zhao Shu looked around, and Qiu Tong seemed to know what she was looking for, so she whispered, "The Sun family came over just now and said that the Fourth Prince's Consort was assassinated, and the Sun family members all went over there."

It seems we didn't meet on the road and took a different path.

"It's good that you're gone." Zhao Shu said, and then walked up to Prince Yong and the Crown Prince. The two looked solemn. Seeing that she was alright, they were slightly relieved, but then kept their eyes fixed on the closed door.

"Father, Crown Prince, what kind of snake bit my tenth brother?"

Zhao Shu asked softly.

The Crown Prince glanced at Xie Jinhuan, who was sitting on a stone bench in the distance, sobbing. His expression was extremely unfriendly. "I heard from Physician Peng that she was bitten by a mountain snake."

The mountain snake, also known as the cobra, is mostly found in the south. Although it can be found in the north, it is not common. "Near the snake, there must be medicinal herbs that can subdue it. I'll go find some."

“Ah Jun, it’s no use. I’ve already looked. The snake was placed there by someone.” The Crown Prince stopped her, shook his head slightly, and said in a low voice, “You have to be careful. Their target is Uncle Nineteen.”

Zhao Shu was shocked. "No, their target is the Huo family and the New Party." Zhao Shu quickly connected the events of the past few years. Although their target was the Huo family, they wanted to use the Yongwang Mansion as a breakthrough point. How wonderful!

The Crown Prince remained silent, clearly having realized it as well. "Therefore, we must leave here as soon as possible, but unfortunately, my tenth brother cannot move freely."

"Why is the tenth prince here?" Zhao Shu still doesn't understand. The tenth prince has no fighting ability at all, and he's not stupid. What purpose does he have here?

"Brought by Fourth Brother."

At this moment, Physician Peng opened the door and came out. Seeing Zhao Shu, he looked at her as if she had seen a lifeline. "Princess, the Tenth Prince is having difficulty breathing. I fear he will suffocate. What should we do?"

Zhao Shu had never been a doctor in a hospital and had zero practical experience. At this moment, all she could think of were some medicines for treating snake venom. The "Medicine Mirror Supplement" recorded that Scutellaria barbata, Phyllostachys edulis, and Paris polyphylla had the effect of treating snake venom, but she didn't know if they could actually cure it. There was no antivenom serum, which was really difficult. After thinking for a while, she read these medicines to Physician Peng one by one.

"Whether it works or not, we should try it first." He was anxious, for the court judge inside had already determined that the tenth prince could only wait to die.

He could have been saved, but he wasted some time rushing from the Imperial Hospital. And these pedantic scholars didn't know to give him any emergency treatment. If they had tied the rope around his ankle from the beginning to prevent the venom from spreading and had someone suck out the venom, he might have been saved. When bitten by a snake, one should not make any vigorous movements. The patient should be moved and handled gently. It's hateful how ignorant these people are!

"Little Guo, it's midsummer, early spring. Quickly follow Elder Peng to find the medicine." With the Crown Prince's reminder, Zhao Shu dared not move around casually. She had to plan everything carefully, for fear that she might be tricked by someone somewhere, which would only make things worse.

Upon hearing this, the three hurriedly followed Physician Peng to find medicine. Several people in the courtyard gathered together and began to whisper among themselves, "The Tenth Prince is really unlucky, standing right next to the Crown Prince and taking the blame for him."

"I think it's more like she's shielding Prince Yong from disaster. You didn't see Xie Jinhuan's appearance just now. She wished she could rush into Prince Yong's arms. It's really a tragedy that the Xie family has produced such a daughter." As he spoke, he glanced at Xie Jinhuan with disdain, as if saying a few words made him much more noble.

"The Xie family is probably doomed. The Sun family broke off the engagement with Xie Jinhuan and married a woman from the Wei family instead. Now, it seems that Lord Xie has suffered a stroke. Without Lord Xie, won't the Xie family be doomed? How many more Lord Xies can emerge from the younger generation of the Xie family? Just look at Xie Jinhuan to know what state the Xie family is in now. She shamelessly tries to cling to Prince Yong. It's disgusting."

Naturally, these discussions were very quiet, and Zhao Shu, the Crown Prince, and Prince Yong did not hear them. Even Qiu Tong and Yan Ruyu, who were beside her, did not hear them at all. The group waited anxiously outside the door, hoping that an imperial physician would come out and say that there was no serious problem.

However, Sun Yun, who had just come in from outside, heard everything. She snorted coldly and looked at these young ladies and gentlemen with a mocking and aloof air.

Her hands, simply bandaged and tucked into her sleeves, were accompanied by Banshu and Ma'an. Standing on the other side of the corridor, she said to Zhao Shu, "Ajun, come here."

Zhao Shu heard her voice, turned around and looked back, then heard, "A-Jun, come here quickly."

The tenth prince couldn't possibly recover so quickly, nor could he die so quickly. So he went down the steps, crossed the courtyard, and came to the corridor where Sun Yun was. "What's wrong?"

"Ah Jun, do you think I saw someone when I came here?" she said, slightly indignantly.

"I saw Lin Xiuxue, she's seducing Lord Huo." She spoke very softly, not to protect Lin Xiuxue's reputation, but because she was concerned about Huo Baichuan's.

Zhao Shu then realized that Huo Baichuan was not there.

"Haha, it can be cured, it can be cured!" Just as Zhao Shu was about to ask, Physician Peng ran over laughing, holding a handful of Scutellaria barbata in his hand. "Princess, it can be cured."

"How can Old Peng be so sure he can cure it?" He seems to have just left, and he's only been back for about 15 minutes. It's really hard to trust him.

Physician Peng proudly waved the herbs in his hand. "Princess, don't worry about how sure I am that I can cure him. Just wait and see, I guarantee the Tenth Prince will be bouncing around again in no time," he said exaggeratedly.
