Chapter 34 Seeking a More Skilled Person

Hearing Zhao Shu's words, Xiao Guozi became even more impolite, coldly saying, "Is this 'monk' anything special, yet some people want to be driven out of the Prince's mansion by this 'monk' who is nothing!"

Baihe felt wronged and wanted to lash out on the spot. This Princess Jun was only respectful to her because of her young lady. What was there for her to be proud of, a lowly princess whom everyone disliked?

Lin Xiuxue reacted quickly and stopped Baihe. "Let's go!" She vowed that she would repay the humiliation she suffered today a hundredfold in the future.

After seeing Lin Xiuxue off, Zhao Shu went to the kitchen.

On a hot summer day, she prepared some food for her father, who was still in the palace fighting against Emperor Mingde.

Chess is an intellectually stimulating game, and it can be quite mentally taxing.

She dared not send any brain-boosting foods, lest Emperor Mingde think she was underestimating his intelligence, so she could only send some things to cool him down.

It's currently around 10:00 AM, not yet lunchtime, but the cooks in the kitchen are already busy.

Seeing Zhao Shu arrive again, Granny Qin hurriedly led her to the door to pay her respects. "No need for formalities, everyone go about your business, don't worry about me." Before the cooks could speak, she had already called the little maid Douya into the kitchen.

After following Zhao Shu into the kitchen, the little girl stood there nervously, unsure of what to say.

"Bean sprouts."

The little girl didn't answer. Zhao Shu wanted to call her again, but then remembered that she didn't know the girl's name, so she asked, "What's your name?"

“This servant is Xing’er,” the little maidservant Douya replied softly.

"Xing'er, I said you do it."

Xing'er nodded hastily, but then realized it was inappropriate and hurriedly said, "Yes, this servant will remember."

"First, find hawthorn, barley tea, and brown sugar, and also some glutinous rice flour."

Xing'er noted down what she was looking for and hurriedly went to prepare it. She had all of these things; they were fairly common items.

Before long, Xing'er brought all the things Zhao Shu wanted from Granny Qin. It was a hot day, and her forehead was covered in sweat from running.

"Let's wash it clean first, then we can start cooking."

Zhao Shu rolled up her sleeves, preparing to make herbal tea and snacks, when Bi Qiao came to report: "Princess, Lord Wei is looking for you."

"Do you know why you're looking for me?" Zhao Shu frowned. Wei Tingsi wouldn't usually contact her unless he had something to say, and she was a little worried.

Bi Qiao shook her head, "This servant does not know, but Lord Wei's expression does not look very good."
