Chapter 36 Battle (Part 1)

Perhaps because it was the capital city, the mansions of aristocratic families were mostly grand yet retained a scholarly air.

However, the exterior of the Sun family mansion has a slightly Hui-style architectural style, with gray tiles and white walls, fresh and elegant, tall gate tower and magnificent high walls. When Sun Yun arrived at the gate of the Sun family, he looked up at this place that seemed like a cage, especially the pair of stone lions in front of the gate, with their eyes wide open and fierce, giving people a very intimidating feeling.

He withdrew his gaze, concealing the complex emotions in his eyes, and instructed Wu Liang, "Break down the door."

Wu Liang was stunned for a moment. Seeing that Sun Yun's face was cold and his expression was aloof, he didn't seem like he would say anything more. Helpless, he ordered his men to smash the side door.

He dared not smash the door, for fear of causing trouble for Zhao Shu.

After smashing the side door, a gatekeeper ran out, carrying a stick. Behind the gatekeeper were more than a dozen servants. Wu Liang smashed the door and stood behind Sun Yun, watching the dozen or so fierce-looking Sun family servants, each holding a wooden stick, and keeping track of their every move. It was clear that these servants were waiting for them.

"What, don't you recognize me?" Sun Yun said calmly.

The gatekeeper and servants were also acting on orders. If the Sixth Miss did not come with the Fourth Madam, she would not be allowed to enter. After hearing Sun Yun's words, they exchanged glances, and someone went in to report, while the rest remained blocking the door.

The mansion of the noble family was almost deserted. Wu Liang glanced back at the desolate avenue and saw that there was no one else there. He became even more cautious. This was his first mission since returning to the capital, and he couldn't afford to mess it up.

Before long, Madam Sun's head maid, Xin Yue, came out with a big smile on her face. "Sixth Miss, you're finally back! Madam Sun has been talking about you non-stop. She's missed you terribly even though it's only been a few days."

Sun Yun avoided her hand that was about to be helped by, and said to Wu Liang, "Follow me." He walked past Xin Yue and led the people into the door.

Xin Yue's outstretched hand froze awkwardly in mid-air. Her eyes, like a stormy sky, shifted several times before she managed a weak smile and chased after him.

"Sixth Miss, didn't Fourth Madam come back with you? Fourth Master has been a bit unwell lately, he keeps calling out Fourth Madam's name." Xin Yue was Old Madam Sun's head maid, and in the inner quarters of the Sun family, no one dared to offend her easily.

Sun Yun glanced at her with eyes that seemed to look down on mortals like a god, and said, "You're making a fuss, tie her up."

"Yes." Wu Liang was on edge and immediately ordered his men to tie Xin Yue up.

The guards were all wearing gloves, and their weapon pouches seemed to contain everything. The guard closest to Xinyue took out a rope and put it around her neck. Xinyue tried to scream, but a wad of cloth was immediately stuffed into her mouth.

After quickly tying them up, Sun Yun was secretly surprised. It was just a mere soldier, yet he could train such a skilled fighter. Ah Jun was truly extraordinary.

"Hang it up." Today she was going to teach the Sun family a good lesson, to tell those hypocritical people not to bully warriors, because power is earned with the help of warriors!

Xin Yue stared wide-eyed in horror. Why had Sixth Miss become like this? It's true what they say, spending too much time with vulgar people makes you vulgar too!

However, no matter how terrifying her eyes were, the guards were not afraid. Having followed Commander Mo, what storms hadn't they weathered? What was a mere maidservant in the inner quarters? They could tie her up or hang her up as they pleased.

So Xinyue was hung upside down from the beam of the pavilion, unable to shout. Even if she was taken down, her mortal enemy would laugh at her. She watched Sun Yun's disappearing figure with resentment.

However, was Sun Yun the kind of person who wouldn't eliminate the problem completely? Before leaving, he turned back and said contemptuously, "Let the matchmaker find a remote mountain village to sell her off for free, a freebie."

Sun Yun's swift and decisive actions had already been reported to Old Madam Sun, and all the households knew about it. They all gathered in Old Madam Sun's courtyard to wait for Sun Yun. They were all shrewd and experienced. Although they didn't know why Sun Zhongshi had instigated everyone to divide the family property, the family was eventually divided. Even a fool could tell that Sun Yun's return at this time was definitely not a friendly visit.

When they arrived at Madam Sun's courtyard, the wives of the first, second, third, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth...twelfth families were also there. The wives of the families gathered together, but the husbands did not come over, and Sun Ganzheng was nowhere to be seen.

Among these wives, the eldest wife, Sun Zhongshi, was probably several generations older than the twelfth wife of the twelfth wife. Sun Yun looked at them one by one, sneered, politely curtsied, and then pulled up a chair to sit opposite the old lady Sun.

"You unfilial daughter! Kneel down!" Old Madam Sun shouted sternly.

Sun Yun looked at her mockingly. Her already aloof face was now even more sarcastic and blatantly contemptuous. The old lady Sun was so angry that she pointed at her with her dragon-headed cane and cursed, "You traitor! The Sun family has raised you for nothing! If I had known this would happen, I should have drowned you back then! So you wouldn't have harmed your own flesh and blood!"

“Closest blood relatives? Does Grandmother even know what closest blood relatives are? As the old saying goes, if the upper beam is not straight, the lower beam will be crooked too. My dear Grandmother, your granddaughter is learning from you. It is all thanks to your good teaching that I am who I am today.” After saying this, Sun Yun looked at Sun Zhongshi, who was hiding behind the ladies. When she saw Sun Yun looking at her, she quickly hid away.

"Aunt, what's wrong? Is your niece ugly? Did it scare you? Why are you hiding?" She seemed to be possessed by Zhao Shu, speaking slowly and deliberately, yet she could make people tremble with fear.

Upon hearing this, everyone was puzzled and looked at Sun Zhongshi with strange expressions. Sun Zhongshi now knew that Sun Yun was not only alive, but had also returned, and was after her daughter!

A mother's love makes her strong. She stepped out from the crowd, trying to suppress her fear, and walked to Sun Yun's side. She said in a calm and respectful manner, "My sixth niece grew up under the Empress Dowager's care. She must be very capable. Mother, I want to hand over the management of the household to my sixth niece."

Upon hearing this, everyone was in an uproar, thinking that Madam Sun must have gone mad. Among them, Madam Sun the Second screamed, "Sister-in-law, if you don't want to manage the household, then let me manage it. Why are you giving me a jinx?"
