She screamed frantically, her eyes welling up with tears as she thought about her failed life. How she wished she had never met this person, never had met him at all!
Emperor Mingde collapsed to the ground, looking at the terrifying Empress Yide, and muttered to himself, "If you had considered my feelings back then, as a concubine, who could have surpassed you? You insisted on becoming Empress! No wonder I am not blamed."
"Consort? Why should I be your concubine? Do you know how much suffering my child endures? Before I even gave birth to him, I was already thinking about how to ensure he wouldn't grow up feeling inferior! Is my son less precious than the Empress? If you love me, why do you make my son call someone else 'mother'?"
As she spoke, tears streamed down her cheeks. The bitterness in her heart was like a flood, overturning her entire being. She had wanted to take revenge on the Empress Dowager before, but she failed. So she looked back on her life and found that it had been a failure. Her mind was filled with unbearable memories.
She hated it! She hated Emperor Mingde for bringing all of this upon her. If she hadn't met him, her life would have been perfect!
They had sons and daughters, a family, everything, but now they have nothing.
She lived to the end, only to find herself with nothing. She was unwilling to accept it! Unwilling to accept it!
"How do you know that I forbid our sons from calling you mother?" Emperor Mingde felt powerless.
Yi De laughed mockingly. She looked at Emperor Mingde as if he were a fool, a treacherous person who broke his word. "There's no point in saying more, Your Majesty. Please take care of your health. I'm leaving now."
After venting her anger, she left the Biyou Palace from behind the statue.
Emperor Mingde watched her leave, and the man who came with her turned back and smiled before leaving, a sarcastic smile that almost drove him to the brink of collapse.
Liang Yunsi and the eunuchs and maids who had been left unconscious outside the door were awakened by the Empress Dowager. She was going to the palace to dine with Zhao Yi today, so she came to tell Emperor Mingde and told him to rest and take care of his health. After all, they had been husband and wife, and she still cared about Emperor Mingde.
However, upon reaching the Sanqing Temple, she saw a group of eunuchs and palace maids who had fainted, including Liang Yunsi. Panicked, she hurriedly lifted her skirt and ran towards them. Before Lu Fushou could even open the door for her, she burst into the hall, crying, "Your Majesty..."
"Your Majesty! Imperial Physician! Summon the Imperial Physician!" When she saw Emperor Mingde lying on the ground, her heart leaped into her throat, and her face turned deathly pale.
Emperor Mingde was still conscious, but he was unwilling to open his eyes, not wanting to see the Empress's pitying gaze. Pity was more painful for him than blatant contempt.
Liang Yunsi was awakened by being splashed with cold water and immediately went to Emperor Mingde to apologize. It was clear that he remembered what happened before he fainted. After leaving the palace, Qin Ji was not there, and he made a mistake despite his careful planning.
Before Emperor Mingde could wake up and question her about the whole story, the matter was brought to Zhao Shu's attention. She frowned as she looked at the intelligence report in her hand. "Didn't I tell you to send people to guard her? How could she have managed to sneak in?"
"Princess, Emperor Dao built two secret passages in Biyou Palace. One has been found, and the other has not yet been found. The Lu family was once highly trusted by Emperor Dao, so it is likely that she knows about the other secret passage and how she entered through it. Just now, this servant sent people to investigate, but they have not yet found the entrance." Xiao Zhuzi reported, covered in sweat. Despite all the precautions, he couldn't prevent the legacy left by their ancestors.
"Is the Emperor Emeritus in trouble?" This is the most important question. Zhao Yi is about to ascend the throne. If Emperor Mingde were to die during the interim period of his ascension, who knows how many people would say hurtful things.
Some might even speculate that Zhao Yi couldn't bear to leave her own father and thus murdered him. Some people are clueless and tend to judge others by their own standards, while others simply parrot what others say.
Moreover, the majority of people simply follow the crowd.
"It's nothing serious. She did give the Emperor Emeritus a pill, and Physician Peng examined him. There's nothing wrong with him, so please don't worry, Princess." Little Zhu couldn't figure out Yi De's purpose this time. She had finally gotten close to Emperor Mingde, so why didn't she kill him?
It's hard to understand, really hard to understand.
Zhao Shu nodded. "She hasn't had her fill of revenge yet, so she won't kill anyone. The Empress Dowager is the most important person to deal with." Even a centipede with a hundred legs doesn't die easily; if Yide goes all in, the destructive power could still be significant.
"Hey, the Five Cities Garrison has increased its patrols again. Don't worry, Princess, she won't be arrogant for long," said Xiao Zhuzi. He was beginning to feel that the Five Cities Garrison's efficiency had decreased since the Guard Court was no longer in charge.
"Yes." Zhao Shu actually hoped that Yi De would come to her so that all the grudges could be resolved at once, saving her from all this trouble of going back and forth.
Just as she thought this, Yi De appeared. She entered with an air of nonchalance, surrounded by a group of men armed with matchlock guns. In broad daylight, she brazenly walked into the Yong Prince's residence. "Where is Zhao Shu? Summon Zhao Shu to see me! Where is Zhao Chonghou? Zhao Chonghou, get out here!"
"You are a wanted criminal! You have a way to heaven but you choose not to take it, and you have no way to hell but you insist on barging in. You will not leave today! The prince and the princess are very precious, how dare you see them?" Mo Qin led his guards to block the man in the front courtyard.
Yi De stared at Mo Qin, smiling faintly, "Mo Qin? What's the point of being the commander of the guards in the Yong Prince's mansion? You'd be better off following me. I guarantee you'll be promoted and enjoy endless wealth and glory."
"You vixen, are you dreaming? You're like a clay bodhisattva crossing a river, yet you still dream of wealth and glory? Surrender now! This is the Yong Prince's Mansion, and you can't run wild here!" Mo Qin said coldly, his face expressionless. The capital had been quite turbulent recently, and he hadn't even gone to the Northeast since returning to the capital, all to protect the Yong Prince's Mansion.
Yi De sneered, "Hmph, frog in a well, get out! Call Zhao Shu and Zhao Chonghou out, I want to see them!" Yi De was not afraid of Mo Qin at all. As she spoke, she slowly walked towards him, while the gunmen behind him followed closely step by step.
Mo Qin glanced at his own men, then at the enemy's weapons. He made a strange gesture, a gesture only the guards of the Yongwang Mansion could understand, which meant to protect the patriarch and get him out of there quickly.
