Chapter 49: The Sequel to Young Master Jiang Wu

The Empress Dowager's anger had subsided, and she no longer held a grudge. Instead, she asked the Crown Prince with a smile, "Yi'er, quickly tell your grandmother what A-Jun lacks."

“Grandmother, I cannot tell you. I will only tell A-Jun.” The Crown Prince raised an eyebrow at Zhao Shu.

Zhao Shu wanted to rub her forehead. Your Highness, what's the meaning of this? You look like you have a secret with me. I just accidentally tricked you, it wasn't intentional. You don't have to hold a grudge like this.

Suddenly, the Crown Prince had a flash of inspiration and understood Zhao Shu's eyes. He thought to himself, "Sister A-Jun, has anyone ever told you that patience is the foundation of all things, and even a dog that bites doesn't bark?"

"Pah! What a metaphor!" The Crown Prince scorned himself, while the Empress Dowager laughed even harder. "You little monkey, you're getting more and more mischievous. Come on, come with me to Prince Yong's residence. If I don't see you for a day, you'll be climbing on the roof and tearing off the tiles."

Since they were going to Prince Yong's residence, which was located in the capital, only half an hour's walk from the palace, Ji Yun and the others did not pack much.

Fu Bo and Bi Qiao, who were waiting at the mansion, were anxious. "Granny, do you think we need to buy anything else? I'll go and get it right away." Bi Qiao was sweating profusely. Sendai Courtyard had been uninhabited for a long time. Since the mansion was established, it had been vacant for most of the time. She was very worried about placing the Empress Dowager in this courtyard.

She originally planned to renovate the main courtyard for the Empress Dowager to live in, but unexpectedly the princess sent Xiao Guozi back to let her renovate the Sendai Courtyard.

She couldn't ignore what the princess said, but she still felt that the princess was too young, and even if she was smart, she wouldn't be able to think of everything.

Granny Zhong didn't know why Zhao Shu arranged for the Empress Dowager to live in Sendai Courtyard, but Sendai Courtyard was actually not much worse than the main courtyard, and it even had a lake, so it was quite cool to live there.

Well then, the Empress Dowager dotes on the princess, so her heart is sweet no matter where she lives.

"Please don't be anxious, young lady. The princess is not an unreasonable person. I think Sendai Courtyard is no worse than the main courtyard," Granny Zhong reassured the two.

Uncle Fu sighed and said nothing more. He went down to urge the people to be quick and make sure the place was spotless.

"I hope the Empress Dowager will not blame me." Bi Qiao put her palms together and chanted Amitabha.

At the hour of Shen (3-5 PM), Zhao Shu, the Empress Dowager, Crown Prince Zhao Yi, Prince Yong, and other masters arrived at the gate of Prince Yong's residence with a large entourage.

The accompanying Imperial Guards quickly surrounded the Prince Yong's residence. Zhao Shu and Zhao Yi, one on each side, helped the Empress Dowager alight from the carriage at the main gate.

Jiang Jingming felt particularly unlucky. Why? To be fair, as the fifth son of the former Marquis of Ningguo, he lived a carefree and comfortable life, but he could not inherit the title and would have to live at the mercy of his elder brother and sister-in-law in the future. His descendants would gradually become a collateral branch.

That wasn't the worst part. The worst part was that he had just bullied Prince Yong a little, just like everyone else. It was one thing for his father to be demoted, but he couldn't inherit the title anyway.

But why didn't the Wang family or the Xie family come to apologize, while he came every day?

Good heavens, he's already gotten so tanned.

Just as he was filled with endless resentment towards the stone pillar in front of Prince Yong's mansion, two heavenly voices rescued him.

"Father, I've heard that Young Master Jiang comes to our gate every day to apologize, rain or shine. His sincerity is evident. Are you still angry, Father? If not, shall we forgive him?"

“How could I, your father, be such a petty person? Fifth Prince, you may go back now.” Prince Yong waved his hand dismissively.

Jiang Jingming turned his head, wanting to see which celestial being was saying those words he had always dreamed of hearing. But when he turned around, he was stunned and hurriedly knelt down with a thud. "Greetings to the Empress Dowager, Your Highness the Crown Prince, Your Highness the Prince, and the Princess."

The Empress Dowager had a cold face. She was joking; her son had been beaten, and now she was facing the culprit. Of course she couldn't laugh.

Jiang Jingming dared not look at the Empress Dowager; he was genuinely afraid of her.

Zhao Shu coldly said again, "Young master, please go back. My father has already forgiven you for hitting him."

The word "big" was practically spat out between clenched teeth. Jiang Jingming's heart skipped a beat upon hearing it, and he hurriedly removed the thorny branch from his back. "Thank you for your magnanimity, Princess. Thank you for your forgiveness, Your Highness. Thank you..."

"Get out of here!" Zhao Shu felt short of breath and wanted to hit someone just by looking at him.

Jiang Jingming used to be a playboy, second only to Prince Yong, but who considered himself to have the demeanor of a scholar. He was a tyrant in the circle of noble young men in the capital, but now he felt a chill.

"Yes, yes, I'll leave right away, right away." He turned back three times as he left, not because he was reluctant to leave, but because he was afraid that Zhao Shu would change her mind.

Hmph, a true man can bend and stretch. The Prince Yong's mansion will just wait!

"Wait a minute," Zhao Shu called out to him.

Jiang Jingming felt his heart leap into his throat, silently praying that they wouldn't change their minds, that they wouldn't change their minds, that he had already stayed here long enough.

He had no doubt that if he didn't get forgiveness from the Prince Yong's mansion, his father would make him stay here for the rest of his life, no matter how long it took.

"Princess...Princess." He trembled as he thought about the tragic fate that awaited him if Zhao Shu did not forgive him.

"I've been too busy these days to witness the young master marry Miss Qingge in person. This is such a beautiful story, the wedding banquet must have been a grand affair." Zhao Shu knew perfectly well what the Ningguo Marquis's family was up to—they wanted to delay and then marry someone else. With Zhao Shu around, how could that be possible!

Jiang Jingming's expression changed drastically, and a surge of anger welled up in his heart. As expected, none of the people in the Prince Yong's mansion were good. Just now he thought that the princess had taken pity on him and forgiven him, but now it seems that she just wants him to go back and marry that woman!

He clearly has a fiancée. He has met the fourth daughter of the Marquis of Zhiyuan's mansion. Although she does not have the gentle and tender feelings of a worldly woman, she is dignified and elegant. Marrying her would bring him both prestige and substance.
