Chapter 64 Silly Smile

Zhao Shu turned over and pulled the blanket over herself. Hearing this, she pulled the blanket over her head and completely covered herself. She asked in a muffled voice, "Aren't you going to sleep?"

"I'm not sleepy." He was incredibly excited, more excited than if he had been injected with chicken blood. Every cell in his body was screaming, as if he had used up all the excitement he had in his life. How could he possibly fall asleep?

Zhao Shu curled her lips after hearing this. Everyone in the inn was confused by him. He could come and go as he pleased, and he even pretended to leave. Who was he trying to impress?

“I’m not sleepy either, so let’s continue our previous topic.” Zhao Shu had originally trusted him completely, thinking that General Wei was a polite and well-mannered person who would never do anything reckless. But now it seemed that she needed to re-evaluate this person. She wondered when and where he had learned to seduce her… and she was no longer so at ease.

Wei Tingsi's expression changed; he thought he no longer had to face the question that had been troubling him.

"There are many kinds of friends, so let's start with friends of the opposite sex. Friends of the opposite sex, as the name suggests, are friends of different genders, such as male friends and female friends. But if we remove one word, it becomes boyfriend and girlfriend. Our relationship will remain as boyfriend and girlfriend. Do you think that's okay?"

Back then, Ajiu explained it to her in the same way. The difference was that Ajiu disliked her back then, but now that they were both from the same ancient era, she put herself in his shoes and understood his perspective. She didn't think Weitingsi was ignorant.

"Is it even less than an engaged couple?" He was extremely disappointed. He had waited five years for her to grow up, but now that she was grown up, they still had such a long road ahead, and they weren't even engaged.

Zhao Shu nodded sullenly, then suddenly remembered that he couldn't see her because she was covered by the blanket, so she said, "Yes, but as lovers, this is the maximum we can do right now."

I want to give him a chance, and I also want to give myself a chance. He saved my life and helped me. What's more, he cares about me. I need his help and I don't dislike him. Why not try opening my heart to him?

However, given the past, it's far too difficult for her to commit to him now. Trying to be his girlfriend is the most appropriate thing to do.

If things don't work out in the future, we can break up.

Looking back, how did she fall for him and start thinking about dating him? It seems a bit complicated, a bit too fast. Thinking about this, she felt a cold sweat run down her back. Had she been too open?

"Shushu, I respect you." His words were filled with disappointment, yet firm. He slowly sat down on the edge of the bed and stayed there until dawn. He no longer wanted to fulfill his earlier words, "I'm going out." He just wanted to be closer to her, even closer, afraid that if he was too far away, Shushu would say that they were not actually suitable for each other.

Through the darkness, he kept staring at the bulging blankets on the bed. His body reacted by clenching his fists, veins bulging, yet he desperately tried to control himself.

He vowed to make the woman in front of him marry him willingly, instead of just having an uncertain relationship. However, he was already overjoyed to have made such progress.

Su Xiu and You Ma came to help Zhao Shu wash up as soon as it was light. Xiao Guozi followed behind them with a whisk and a basin of water, and knocked on the door. "Princess, are you up yet?"

Zhao Shu, who was covered in sweat under the covers, immediately threw off the covers when she heard Su Xiu's voice. "Wait a minute."

After saying that, he lowered his voice and said to Wei Tingsi, "Aren't you leaving?"

"I'll wait for you at the horse's head later." He suppressed the urge to hug and kiss her again, and climbed out the window.

After he left, it took Zhao Shu a long time to calm her racing heart. It wasn't that she was slow to react; she had just been restraining herself. She was certain that if her breathing had been a little more disordered or her heartbeat a little faster, it would have been much more than just a kiss and a hug!

While it's unlikely that something like that will actually happen, there will definitely be more kissing and hugging. She's not afraid that Wei Tingsi will lose control; she's afraid that she, having witnessed modern, open, and free love, will lose control herself.

The thought flashed through her mind, and her face instantly turned bright red. Hadn't she just been criticizing herself for being too open...?

It took her quite some time to regain her composure before she got out of bed and said, "Come in."

Upon hearing the sound, Su Xiu and the other two pushed open the door and filed in. Su Xiu was the first to enter, carrying a lantern in her hand. However, as soon as she entered the room, she was stunned. There was a man's outer robe on the princess's bed!

It was just dawn, and the room was still pitch black without lights. Zhao Shu turned around following her dazed gaze and suddenly saw Wei Tingsi's clothes. She immediately wanted to beat her chest and stamp her feet in frustration.

The second to enter were Youma and Xiao Guozi. They also saw the garment and, like Su Xiu, were stunned.

Knowing that she couldn't hide it any longer, Zhao Shu pretended to be very calm and said, "Last night, General Wei came to me to discuss important matters. Seeing that you were all working very hard, he didn't inform you. But the night was cool, and the general, understanding that I am a woman, lent me his outer garment to keep me warm."

"Princess, we are just servants, you don't need to explain to us." Little Guozi, without any sense of propriety, contradicted her.

Zhao Shu glared at him, "Sleeping so soundly, I couldn't even find anyone to deliver some clothes. Didn't you understand what I said?" She was furious and embarrassed, and forcibly combined two sentences with different meanings.

The three of them kept their eyes closed and knew exactly what was going on. The princess was shy, so they, as servants, would just have to take the blame.

However, he also realized that he must have been tricked because he slept so soundly last night. He knelt down with a thud and said, "Please punish me, Princess."

"Get up, it's getting late." As she spoke, she reached out and pulled the blanket over herself, covering herself with her clothes.

The others noticed this subtle movement but dared not laugh, finding it quite difficult to suppress their laughter.
