They were not convinced! They were so young and beautiful, yet they lost to a woman in her forties. They were not convinced!
So they all came to the Empress to seek justice.
The Empress looked at the beauties with faces full of resentment and grievance, and smiled politely. She couldn't tell how many of them were of the virtuous kind, but she was amused by the appearance of Consort Hao in Fengqi Palace.
"What, does Sister Hao also feel it's unfair?" Consort Hao was a favored concubine, the kind who was the most favored in the six palaces. From an outsider's perspective, it was indeed the one who should make a fuss the most, but the Empress knew that she and Yide were in cahoots.
Hao Shumei was not arrogant or domineering here, but rather meek and obedient. "Your Majesty, I would like to have a word with you. I am bored all day long, being alone in the palace."

"Shouldn't my sister be going to discuss things with that person at Weiyang Palace?" Zhao Shu sipped her tea, her wide sleeves concealing the slight upturn of her lips, but her eyes clearly revealed her intention to kick someone when they're down.
Hao Shumei was furious, but she didn't actually get angry. Instead, she suppressed her anger and said, "Your Majesty is joking. What can I say to her? Don't we have a common enemy now?"
The Empress maintained a polite smile on her face, but her heart was in turmoil. What was going on?
