Chapter 66 The Heart-Gnawing Cannibal (2)

But he didn't dare to invite them. Who were they? Not to mention a mere deputy bureau chief like himself, even the mayor or governor couldn't persuade them to come.

Since he couldn't persuade him, they went to find someone who could. That's why they set their sights on He Shaoqi. After all, He Shaoqi and Ling Moyuan grew up together, so he's definitely more important than Ling Moyuan.

That's how the scene that happened this morning came about.

He Shaoqi followed Ling Moyuan around in circles, using his silver tongue to try and persuade him.

Ling Moyuan maintained a cold and indifferent expression from beginning to end, not even glancing at the person who followed him around like a shadow, as if that person was invisible to him.

She took the clothes she needed to change into and went straight into the bathroom, leaving He Shaoqi outside. Soon after, the sound of running water could be heard from inside.

A moment later, Ling Moyuan, dressed neatly, opened the door from the inside. He was dressed entirely in black, a black shirt paired with black trousers, and his slender, tall figure highlighted his cold and aloof personality.

"Mo Yuan, we've been brothers for decades, you wouldn't refuse to help with such a small thing, would you?" He Shaoqi followed behind Ling Mo Yuan, looking at Ling Mo Yuan with a bitter face, as if accusing him of being heartless.

"How come I never knew that arresting criminals was your responsibility as a police officer?"

He Shaoqi chuckled awkwardly, "Isn't it everyone's responsibility to maintain peace?"

Ling Moyuan's indifferent yet sharp eyes looked at He Shaoqi, giving the feeling that he was cutting open the surface of the skin with a scalpel. Although they had known each other for over twenty years, every time Ling Moyuan looked at him with those eyes, He Shaoqi felt as if he were being stripped naked in front of him, and he felt somewhat guilty.

Because this is often when he's scheming against Ling Moyuan.

It's not so much scheming as it is, because Ling Moyuan always sees through it.

He Shaoqi dropped his fake smile, his beautiful peach blossom eyes filled with helplessness. Then he smiled and said, "Okay, I did accept a little bit of benefit, but that's not the point. The point is that the murderer is really too cruel. If he isn't caught soon, who knows how many more people will suffer. Can you bear to do that?"

"If you can't bear it, I won't stop you from having the opportunity to maintain peace." He picked up the car keys on the table and turned to leave.

"If I had your innate intuition for criminals, I wouldn't bother you." He Shaoqi is indeed a genius, but that's only in business. He's completely inept at catching criminals.

Ling Moyuan continued walking without stopping, and in the blink of an eye he had reached the corner. His shiny leather shoes made a soft sound as they stepped on the stairs. "If you start eating two pig brains every day from today to make up for it, I believe there is still hope."

He Shaoqi's heart ached. This was his brother from childhood, always wearing a long face and occasionally uttering sarcastic remarks. Who else could be as great as him, enduring such a harsh man for over twenty years? Just thinking about it made him realize how difficult it had been for him.

Seeing that Ling Moyuan had already climbed the stairs in no time and was about to cross the living room and leave, He Shaoqi chased after him in three steps at a time, calling out, "Moyuan, don't be so quick to refuse. This case is not an ordinary case. You will be interested. The murderer may be a psychopathic mind-reaping demon."
