Just then, the doorbell rang again. To stop Han Meijuan from bothering her any longer, Grandma Ling immediately called out, "I'll go open the door!"
The door opened, and Ling Moyuan, dressed in a black shirt and black pants, carrying a suitcase, appeared. He had obviously just gotten off the plane and rushed over, clearly worried about Mo Jing.
He was surprised to find someone he never expected to open the door: "Grandma!"
Meanwhile, Mo Jing, unable to sleep, decided to get up. As soon as she opened the door and looked down from the second floor, she saw Han Meijuan already standing in the living room.
She remembered that this was Ling Moyuan's mother, since they had met at the restaurant before.
Looking towards the entrance, a person who should still be in the United States is now standing there.
Ling Moyuan stood there tall and straight, his face with sharp features and distinct lines. Even when viewed from above, his expression remained arrogant.
Of course, she also heard him call out "Grandma." She should have realized sooner that Grandma Ling had never told her her name; it was always Grandma Ling who called her that.
...
On the sofa, Mo Jing and Ling Moyuan sat together, while Grandma Ling and Han Meijuan sat opposite them.
"Speak, what happened? How did you end up here?" Ling Moyuan exuded a sharp aura as he looked at the two people opposite him. His expression was indifferent, but a closer look revealed the gentleness between his brows.
"I just came out for fun, I didn't expect to run into Mo Jing, she kindly took me home. But I never expected that she would be your girlfriend, Mo Yuan. There's a saying, 'Birds of a feather flock together.'" Grandma Ling, adhering to the spirit of "confess and you'll be treated leniently, you'll be imprisoned for life, resist and you'll be punished severely, and you'll go home for the New Year," vowed to never admit anything. "As for your mother, I bet she just can't stand this old woman and wants to cause me trouble again."
"Mom, if you weren't so old and still going through all this trouble, do you think I would have wanted to come out and find you?" Han Meijuan tossed her hair and said elegantly.
Upon hearing this, Grandma Ling's eyes widened immediately: "I knew you were already fed up with me, weren't you? All you do is complain that I'm too old and an obstacle for you young people, don't you?" As she spoke, she wiped her eyes with her sleeve, looking aggrieved.
Seeing Grandma Ling's state, Mo Jing tugged at Ling Moyuan's sleeve, wanting to say something.
Ling Moyuan smiled gently, took Mo Jing's hand in his palm, and shook his head at her with a smile, indicating that she should not worry about it.
Mo Jing didn't quite understand what was going on with this family. The daughter-in-law spoke without any respect for her elders, and Ling Moyuan, the grandson, didn't care at all.
Ling Moyuan noticed Mo Jing's confusion and whispered closer, "They've been arguing like this for decades. Grandma isn't crying at all; she's just faking it."
Although Ling Moyuan spoke softly, Grandma Ling, with her sharp ears, heard him clearly. Looking at Ling Moyuan with disbelief, she accused him, "Moyuan, how could you say that about your grandmother? I loved you so much when you were little. I raised you for nothing!" Then she turned to Mo Jing, tears streaming down her face, and said, "Granddaughter-in-law, you see what I've done! What a misfortune for our family! We have such a wicked daughter-in-law and such a heartless grandson. Just think how difficult my life has been."
Mo Jing blinked. Why did she suddenly feel that Grandma Ling's crying looked so fake?
