Chapter 9 Returning to the Mo Family

The villa was resplendent in gold and luxuriously decorated, perfectly meeting the standards of Mo Xiangtian, one of the wealthiest men in the province.

The servants in the house looked somewhat apprehensive and fearful when they saw Mo Jingjun.

Mo Jing used to be spoiled and willful, and the servants at home must have suffered a lot at her hands.

Mo Jing ignored all of this and, led by Wu Ma, went to the living room to eat. The dishes were plentiful, all of them nourishing and blood-tonifying foods.

Aunt Wu served Mo Jing a bowl of black-boned chicken soup and placed it in front of her, saying with a smile, "Miss, you are still weak, drink more."

Looking at Aunt Wu's warm and kind face, she inadvertently thought of her own mother, that equally gentle woman. Then, she couldn't help but recall that ugly face and those scenes that had filled her with terror and made her feel like she was being cut by a knife, each cut slicing through her heart and drawing her blood.

Afraid that this inexplicable sadness and pain would overwhelm her, Mo Jing quickly picked up the bowl, the steaming vapor obscuring her tearful eyes. She slowly drank from the bowl, her eyes, which had been glistening with tears, forced them back. Then she tried to calm herself down and regain her previous expression.

Yes, she has to be strong now, she has to hide and endure, and those things that cause her unbearable pain can only be hidden deep in her heart and cannot be released at will.

She did it well, concealing it perfectly. Her movements were so natural and fluid that Wu Ma didn't notice her subtle expressions or the deep pain she was hiding.

After the meal, Mo Jing picked up a napkin to wipe her mouth and asked naturally, "I want to go rest now. Where is my room?"

The question was asked naturally, but it left Wu Ma stunned for a long time before she finally came to her senses and said, "Miss, are you alright? How come you don't even remember your own room?"

Mo Jing looked at Wu Ma, who was only in her forties. Perhaps she worked as a housekeeper in a wealthy household, as she had a fairly ruddy complexion. Mo Jing's calm expression was reflected in Wu Ma's kind eyes.

Wu Ma must have a wealth of life experience at her age, but of course she doesn't know how many unbelievable things and tragic experiences have happened to this young girl, nor has she ever experienced the deep pain and despair in her heart.

Finally, a very natural smile appeared on Mo Jing's calm face: "I probably hit my head when I was in the car accident before, so there are some things I don't remember very well." Her answer was still very natural and fluent, without a trace of deliberate effort.

"How could this happen? Didn't you ask the doctor? What did the doctor say if it's serious?" Wu Ma suddenly looked at Mo Jing with a tense and uneasy expression. She had watched this child grow up. Although everyone said she had a bad temper and was very willful, Wu Ma truly knew in her heart that this was not her true nature. Everything she had done was forced out of her by her environment.

Mo Jing gently shook her head, as if to comfort her, and said, "The doctor said it's nothing serious, and she'll gradually remember in a few days." It was clear that Aunt Wu was genuinely worried about Mo Jing, so Mo Jing replied to her with unusual patience.

Hearing Mo Jing's words, Wu Ma finally felt relieved. "That's good. Miss, you still need to get some rest."

Then, pointing to the second floor, she said, "Your room is the second one on the left on the second floor. Miss, why don't you go and rest for a while? In the afternoon, Aunt Wu will make you some desserts."

Mo Jing nodded silently, then turned and left.
