The spring sunshine shone warmly on the courtyard of the General's Mansion, but the atmosphere in Shen Weiwan's room was a little subtle. Shen Weiwan was sitting in front of a bronze mirror, with Chuntao helping her comb her hair. She was playing with a jade hairpin in her hand, her eyes fixed on the mirror, a faint smile on the corner of her mouth, and no one knew what she was thinking.
At this moment, a sound of footsteps was heard, and then the door curtain was lifted, and Liu came in with two maids. Liu's face was full of smiles, and the smile looked kind, but Shen Weiwan knew in her heart that there was no good behind this smile.
“Wanwan,” Liu quickly walked to Shen Weiwan, took her hand, and her voice was full of concern, “Look at you, you have lost weight these days, and your aunt feels distressed when she sees you.”
Shen Weiwan blinked her eyes, pretending to be innocent, and said, "Aunt, Wanwan is fine, it's just that there are a lot of things in the mansion, which makes Aunt worry."
Liu patted Shen Weiwan's hand gently and sighed: "That's right, there are so many things going on in the general's mansion, and it's really beyond the ability of my aunt to handle it alone. But these are not important. What's important is you, Wanwan."
Shen Weiwan was secretly alert in her heart, but she still had a sweet smile on her face: “Aunt, just say whatever you want to say, Wanwan is listening.”
Liu paused for a moment, a troubled look on her face. "Well, I had a dream last night about your deceased mother. In the dream, she told me to go to Hanshan Temple outside the city and pray for her, so that she can rest in peace there."
When Shen Weiwan heard this, she almost couldn't help laughing out loud, thinking that this Liu was really good at making excuses, but she still pretended to be hesitant on the surface: "Aunt, going to Hanshan Temple to pray for blessings is not a trivial matter. You have to prepare a lot of things. Is it too troublesome?"
Liu quickly said, "It's not a big deal. I've prepared everything for you. Just go and pray for blessings. This is for your mother, and even more so for the good fortune of our general's mansion."
Shen Weiwan knew that Liu was trying to get her out of the way so she could take advantage of the opportunity to rob the general's warehouse. Her eyes rolled, a plan dawned on her mind, and a look of surprise immediately crossed her face. "Really? Auntie is so kind to Wanwan! However, I heard that when you go to Hanshan Temple to pray for blessings, you must use the finest grains to offer to the Bodhisattva, so that the Bodhisattva will appear. Auntie, can you prepare ten carts of millet and five carts of stones for me?"
When Liu heard this, the smile on her face froze for a moment, and she stared at Shen Weiwan with wide eyes, as if she couldn't believe her ears: "You...what did you say? Ten carts of millet and five carts of stones? Wanwan, what do you want so much for?"
Shen Weiwan explained seriously, "Aunt, you don't understand. This is the rule. The millet represents a good harvest, and the stone represents a solid rock. This is the only way to express our sincerity. Moreover, the Bodhisattva of Hanshan Temple is very effective. As long as we are sincere, it will surely bless our general's mansion to get better and better."
Liu's face flushed crimson, and she was furious, but she couldn't bring herself to lash out. She gritted her teeth and forced a smile, "Wanwan, this is too much! We can't get this much in a short time."
Shen Weiwan pouted deliberately, and said with a look of grievance: "Aunt, didn't you say it was for my mother and the general's mansion? How can you not even bear to give up such a small thing? Is it that Aunt doesn't want me to pray for my mother?"
Liu was speechless after being blocked by Shen Weiwan's words. After holding it in for a long time, she reluctantly said, "Wanwan, don't misunderstand me. Auntie didn't mean that. It's just that the number is really..."
Shen Weiwan didn't wait for Liu to finish, and pulled her arm and shook it: "Aunt, please promise me, okay? If you don't agree, Wanwan will be sad."
Liu looked at Shen Weiwan's coquettish look, feeling angry and anxious, but she had no other choice. She knew that if she didn't agree, Shen Weiwan would definitely not let it go, and might even make it known to everyone in the mansion, which would make her even more embarrassed.
"Okay, okay," Liu reluctantly compromised, "Auntie promises you, I'll have someone prepare it right away."
When Shen Weiwan heard this, she immediately smiled: "Thank you, auntie, you are the best! I knew you wouldn't refuse me."
Liu suppressed her anger and gave a perfunctory smile: "You, child, only know how to make your aunt happy. Okay, you get ready first. Once everything is ready, we will set off."
After saying that, Liu hurriedly left Shen Weiwan’s room with the maid. As soon as she went out, she glared fiercely at the door behind her and cursed in a low voice: “This little bitch is getting more and more difficult to deal with!”
In the room, Shen Weiwan watched Liu's departing figure with a smug smile on her lips. Chun Tao couldn't help but say, "Miss, you are really amazing. You have fooled that old hag again. But do we really need ten carts of grain and five carts of stones?"
Shen Weiwan stood up and stretched: "Of course I was teasing her. Did she think I would be so easily dismissed by her? However, these ten carts of grain and five carts of stones can't just be let go. Chuntao, you go and keep an eye on her. If she dares to be perfunctory, we'll have a good show to watch."
Chun Tao covered her mouth and laughed: "Don't worry, young lady, I will keep a close eye on it. That old hag will definitely suffer this time."
Shen Weiwan walked to the window, looked at the sky outside, a cold light flashed in her eyes: "Liu, this is just the beginning, you wait for me, you will suffer in the future."
The following days were a whirlwind of activity at the General's Mansion. Liu, preparing the ten cartloads of millet and five cartloads of stone that Shen Weiwan had requested, put in a tremendous amount of effort. She dispatched people everywhere to procure the supplies, and oversaw the transportation, leaving her completely overwhelmed. Meanwhile, Shen Weiwan, seemingly unfazed, leisurely strolled through the mansion, admiring the flowers, and occasionally checking in on Liu's progress, much to her chagrin.
