She turned to Chuntao and smiled, "Chuntao, tell me, if Shen Ruorou found out that the 'surprise' she prepared finally fell on her head, what would her expression be?"
Chun Tao was stunned for a moment, then understood: "Miss, you mean...?"
"Shh..." Chen Weiwan made a silent gesture, "The secret cannot be revealed. Go and help me prepare something. We need to spice up my cousin's 'Green Tea' script!"
On the day of the Spring Banquet, the peony garden of the Taifu Mansion was ablaze with flowers, and noble ladies from various mansions gathered. When Shen Weiwan appeared in a hibiscus brocade dress, she immediately attracted everyone's attention. The colorful hibiscus flowers sparkled in the sunlight, making her look like a fairy from a painting.
"Oh, isn't this the eldest daughter of the General's Mansion?" The Grand Tutor's wife came forward with a smile. "This dress is really beautiful. Which embroidery workshop made it?"
Shen Weiwan bowed and smiled innocently: "I'm sorry to make you laugh, Madam. It was made casually by the old tailor at home. The material was just leftover from the warehouse. I didn't expect it could still be worn."
She deliberately downplayed the matter, but it made the other noble ladies around her envious. The fact that the remaining material could be made into such a beautiful dress showed just how wealthy the General's family was.
Shen Ruorou stood in the crowd, watching Shen Weiwan being adorned with stars, and the handkerchief in her hand was almost twisted to pieces. The moon-white dress she wore today was indeed eclipsed by Shen Weiwan's.
"Sister, your skirt is so beautiful." Shen Ruoruo forced a smile, walked over and took Shen Weiwan's hand, "I just don't know if it can withstand dirt. It would be a pity if it gets dirty later."
Shen Weiwan looked at the calculation that flashed across her eyes, sneered in her heart, but showed a worried expression on her face: "Yes, I'm afraid too. But fortunately, I brought a spare set of clothes, just in case I trouble you, sister."
"Look at what my sister said," Shen Ruorou immediately interjected, "between us sisters, what's the trouble? If it really gets dirty, just wear my spare clothes. My moon-white one matches your temperament very well!"
As she spoke, she deliberately shook the jade bracelet on her wrist, suggesting that her clothes were not bad either.
Shen Weiwan couldn't stop laughing in her heart, but her face was filled with gratitude: "Really? Thank you so much, sister!"
At this moment, a maid passed by with tea, and Shen Ruorou "accidentally" bumped into her, and the scalding tea spilled all over Shen Weiwan's hibiscus brocade skirt.
"Oh!" Shen Ruorou screamed, "Sister, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, it's all my fault for being clumsy!"
The noble ladies around gathered around and looked at the tea stains on Shen Weiwan’s skirt with regret.
Shen Weiwan took a step back in shock, her eyes red: "My skirt... This is the memory my mother left me..."
"Sister, don't cry," Shen Ruorou immediately hugged her, her voice so gentle that water could drip out, "Isn't it just a skirt? Come with me to change clothes and wear mine!"
As she spoke, she pulled Shen Weiwan to the side hall, her eyes full of pride. Shen Weiwan lowered her head, with an imperceptible smile on the corner of her mouth.
The good show has just begun.
In the side hall, Shen Ruorou couldn't wait to take out the moon-white skirt: "Sister, put it on quickly, don't catch a cold."
Shen Weiwan took the skirt and touched it deliberately in her hands. Sure enough, she felt rough grass scraps in the lining. She sneered in her heart, but showed an embarrassed expression on her face: "This... Is this my sister's new dress? It doesn't suit me, right?"
"It fits," Shen Ruorou said quickly, "Put it on quickly, don't make the people outside wait anxiously."
Shen Weiwan "reluctantly" agreed and turned around to change clothes. When her back was facing Shen Ruoruo, she quickly shook the grass scraps from the lining onto the hem of her skirt, and then quietly stuffed some grass scraps into Shen Ruoruo's skirt pocket.
"Okay, sister," Shen Weiwan turned around, wearing Shen Ruorou's moon-white skirt, "Look, is it a little big?"
Shen Ruorou looked at her putting on her skirt, feeling proud in her heart, but she said, "It's not too big, it fits my sister perfectly." She lowered her head to adjust the hem of her skirt and accidentally touched the grass scraps in the skirt pocket, but didn't care.
The two returned to the banquet, and Shen Weiwan deliberately pulled Shen Ruoruo around, and soon a noble lady discovered the tea stains on her skirt.
"Oh, sister Weiwan, why is your skirt dirty?"
Shen Weiwan said "wrongly": "It's all my fault for being careless. Fortunately, my sister lent me clothes."
Shen Ruorou immediately put on an elder sister's attitude: "Sister, you are too polite. Please sit down and have a rest."
But not long after, Shen Ruorou began to feel itchy. It started as a slight itch, but then it got worse and worse, as if countless little bugs were crawling around. She couldn't help but scratch it, but the more she scratched, the more it itched it became, and her makeup was almost ruined.
"Sister, what's wrong with you?" Shen Weiwan asked pretending to be concerned.
"No...it's okay..." Shen Ruoruo was so itchy that she couldn't speak. She could only scratch her arms and legs continuously, looking like a complete mess.
The noble ladies around saw this and began to whisper to each other.
"Hey, what's wrong with Miss Shen Er? Are you scratching yourself all the time?"
"Yeah, it looks so uncomfortable. Could it be some strange disease?"
"Isn't it an infectious disease? Let's stay away from her..."
When Shen Ruorou heard these words, she was so angry that her face turned pale, itchy and ashamed, she wanted to find a crack in the ground to crawl into. She obviously wanted to embarrass Shen Weiwan, so why did she become the one?
Shen Weiwan looked at her embarrassed appearance, feeling very happy, but a worried expression appeared on her face: "Sister, are you feeling unwell? How about I take you home?"
"No need!" Shen Ruorou gritted her teeth, itching so much that tears were about to come out, "I...I'll go back by myself!"
