Chapter 34 The protagonist’s magical operation: moving grass clippings, and reserving cousin’s itchy flesh!

Wisps of green smoke drifted out of the gilded incense burner in the side hall of the Taifu Mansion. Shen Ruoruo pinched Shen Weiwan's wrist and pulled her behind the screen. The pearl necklace flickered on her cuffs: "Sister, change your clothes quickly. If you dawdle any longer, the banquet will be over!"

Shen Weiwan let her pull, but her fingertips rubbed against the lining of her moon-white skirt, and sure enough, her hands were covered with fine grass debris. She suddenly stopped with an "Ouch!" and covered her arm with a frown: "Cousin, the material of your skirt seems a little prickly."

"It pricks?" Shen Ruoruo rolled her eyes, but smiled gently, "Silly sister, this is the finest brocade, how could it prick people? You must have been anxious and made a mistake." She pretended to straighten Shen Weiwan's collar, but her nails secretly pinched the other's collarbone.

"Hiss—" Shen Weiwan stepped back suddenly, bumping into the copper basin stand that Chuntao had brought. The clear water sloshed over the edge of the basin and splashed squarely onto the suitcase at Shen Ruoruo's feet—where Shen Ruoruo's casual clothes were placed.

"Miss!" Chuntao exclaimed and went to help, but her sleeve "accidentally" brushed across the moon-white skirt in Shen Weiwan's hand, shaking off all the grass debris on the lining onto the wet lid of the box.

"You bitch!" Shen Ruoruo screamed and pushed Chuntao away. Looking at the grass debris on the suitcase, her face changed instantly. "Chen Weiwan! You did it on purpose!"

"I don't have any, cousin." Chen Weiwan blinked her innocent eyes and squatted to pick up the fallen hairpin, but her fingertips quickly crushed the grass on the lid into the wet wood grain, "I just feel like there seems to be something in this skirt, listen -"

She suddenly brought her skirt close to Shen Ruorou's ear and shook it, the grass scraps rubbing against the fabric making a subtle "rustling" sound. The maids waiting nearby all looked out curiously, and Qinghe's face turned pale, subconsciously wanting to grab the skirt.

"Oh, cousin, listen to this sound, does it sound like a little bug crawling?" Shen Weiwan was so scared that she threw her skirt on the table, covered her mouth and took a half step back, "I saw this kind of grass clippings in the garden a few days ago, it seems to be called nettle? I heard from the old lady that it will cause red bumps on the skin if it touches the skin."

"You're talking nonsense!" Shen Ruorou grabbed her skirt and shook it, and grass clippings fell on her skirt. "It's just ordinary grass clippings! Qinghe, quickly bring me a brush!"

Chuntao had been waiting for this sentence and immediately handed over the brush "obediently". However, as she handed it over, her sleeve secretly brushed against the hem of Shen Ruoruo's uniform. Shen Weiwan saw with her sharp eyes that a few pieces of grass were firmly stuck to the lake blue satin.

"Sister, look," Shen Weiwan pointed at the hem of Shen Ruoruo's skirt, "there's also one on your skirt!"

Shen Ruorou looked down and saw a few green hairs stuck to the inside of her skirt. She was so angry that she almost crushed the brush in her hand. She glared at Qinghe fiercely and cursed in a low voice: "Help me get rid of it!"

Qing He was crying as she went to brush the grass debris, but the more she brushed, the messier it got, and she ended up brushing more grass debris onto her clothes. Shen Weiwan kindly reminded her, "Cousin, why don't you change your clothes and brush them together? Otherwise, they'll be uncomfortable to wear if they get covered with grass debris."

"No need!" Shen Ruorou almost yelled. She just wanted to send Shen Weiwan away quickly to avoid any more trouble. "Put on my skirt! If you keep talking nonsense, Madam Taifu will be angry!"

Shen Weiwan pursed her lips in a "grievance" and slowly picked up the moon-white skirt: "Okay, but cousin, your skirt smells really good, what kind of incense is it?" She deliberately brought the skirt to her nose and sniffed it, taking the opportunity to sweep the hem of her skirt across Shen Ruoruo's casual clothes.

"It's just an ordinary lily scent." Shen Ruorou waved her hand impatiently, "Change it quickly!"

Shen Weiwan then slowly walked behind the screen and saw Chuntao making an "OK" gesture to her through the gauze curtain - just now, at least half a handful of grass debris was stuck to Shen Ruoruo's casual clothes.

"Cousin," Shen Weiwan suddenly stuck her head out, holding the skirt belt in her hand, "This belt seems a little short, can you help me tie it?"

Shen Ruorou walked over unhappily and bent down to tie her belt. Shen Weiwan took the opportunity to hide behind her, and her skirt "accidentally" swept across the casual clothes hanging next to her - a few pieces of grass landed accurately.

"Okay, okay!" Shen Ruorou finished tying her belt and took two steps back in disgust, "Get out now, don't dawdle any longer!"

Shen Weiwan then adjusted her collar and walked out from behind the screen. The moon-white dress was indeed a size too big for her, and the pearl necklace at the neckline was crooked to the edge of her collarbone. She deliberately tugged at her collar and frowned, saying, "Cousin, this neckline seems a bit prickly."

"Zazaza! You're the only one who has so much trouble!" Shen Ruorou pushed her out the door, "Get out now, don't embarrass me!"

As soon as the two of them walked to the gate of the Peony Garden, they were surrounded by a group of noble ladies. Shen Weiwan immediately put on an aggrieved expression and pointed to her neck: "I don't know what happened. I wore my cousin's skirt and my neck is a little itchy."

"Really?" Madam Taifu happened to be passing by and came closer to check with concern. "Is he allergic to any material?"

Shen Ruorou's heart skipped a beat, fearing that Shen Weiwan would tell her about the grass debris, so she quickly said, "Madam, don't listen to her nonsense. She's just a spoiled child. Sister, look, Madam Taifu has found a new skirt for you!" She pointed to the pomegranate red skirt with gold embroidery held by the maid, trying to change the subject.

Shen Weiwan's eyes lit up, and she immediately forgot about the "itch" and rushed over to touch the new dress: "Wow! It's so beautiful! Thank you, ma'am!"

The Taifu's wife was amused by her and said, "Go and change quickly. Now you look like the eldest daughter of our general's mansion."

Shen Ruorou watched Shen Weiwan happily running to the side hall, and she was so angry that her teeth itched, but suddenly she felt a strange itch on her lower back. She subconsciously reached out to scratch it, but was seen by the noble lady next to her.

"Sister Ruorou, what's wrong with you?"
