When the carved wooden door of Xiefang Courtyard was kicked open, Shen Weiwan was leisurely picking almond cakes with a silver hairpin. Liu's entrance made such a commotion that the dust on the beams fell down. Her red gold headband tilted to her temples, and her jade armor scraped harshly against the doorframe.
"Chen Weiwan!" Liu pointed at her nose, spitting out saliva three feet away. "How dare you eat snacks here? Let me ask you, was Ruorou the one you plotted against?"
Shen Weiwan was startled, and the almond cake fell to the table with a "clack". She opened her eyes wide, and her watery eyes were full of "shock": "Aunt, what are you talking about? My cousin was itchy at the Spring Festival Banquet, and I can't help but feel distressed!"
"Heartbroken?" Liu screamed and grabbed the teacup on the table, "You feel heartbroken? I think you wish she would die!" The teacup fell to the ground, and the fragments splashed on the corner of Shen Weiwan's skirt, but she didn't even blink.
Chun Tao cried out "Aiya" and rushed over, blocking Shen Weiwan: "Madam, please don't scare our young lady! At the Spring Banquet, the young lady was helping the second young lady find herbs to relieve itching!"
"Looking for herbs?" Liu sneered, "I think you two worked together to shake the grass scraps into her skirt pocket!"
Shen Weiwan's eyes suddenly turned red, and her voice trembled: "How could my aunt think of me like this? That day, my cousin spilled tea on me and gave me a spare skirt to wear. I was grateful in my heart!" She twisted her handkerchief, her fingertips trembling slightly, "Who knew that her own clothes would have grass debris... I, I thought it was grass seeds from the garden that accidentally got on it..."
"You're still quibbling!" Liu was so angry that she was shaking all over and raised her hand to hit her. Shen Weiwan dodged back at the right time and bumped into Chuntao's arms. Tears fell down: "Aunt! What did I do wrong to make you wrong me like this?"
The crying attracted the maids and servants from the outer room, and the old housekeeper also hurried over. He looked at Liu's ferocious face and Shen Weiwan's aggrieved look, and frowned: "Madam, if you have something to say, please talk to her nicely. Why get so angry?"
"Talk nicely?" Liu pointed at Shen Weiwan, "Ask her! Did she steal the warehouse key?"
Shen Weiwan cried even harder: "Warehouse key? I don't even know where the warehouse is, how could I steal the key? Did my aunt make a mistake?"
Chun Tao also chimed in: "Yes, madam! The young lady stays in Tinglan Courtyard every day and has never been to the warehouse!"
Liu was so blocked that she couldn't speak. Suddenly, she caught a glimpse of the jade hairpin on Shen Weiwan's bun and screamed, "Great! You dare to wear the hairpin given by the Seventh Prince! Did you seduce the prince with your seductive tricks to dare to be so lawless?"
As soon as these words came out, the servants around them gasped. Shen Weiwan suddenly looked up, tears on her face, but her eyes were clear: "Aunt, you can't say such things! His Royal Highness the Seventh Prince only gave me an ordinary jade hairpin out of pity for me. But my cousin," she changed the subject, "I heard that after the Spring Banquet, Master Li Xiu sent someone to deliver a letter?"
Liu's face turned pale: "You...what nonsense are you talking about!"
"I'm talking nonsense?" Shen Weiwan wiped her tears, "Yesterday, the servant of the Li Mansion was wandering around the door, holding my cousin's handkerchief in his hand!" She deliberately raised her voice, "If you don't believe it, you can ask Master Li Xiu!"
The servants around them immediately started whispering. Liu, furious and anxious, suddenly grabbed the account book on the table and threw it at him: "You little bitch! I'm going to beat you to death today!"
Shen Weiwan was prepared and hid behind the old housekeeper: "Aunt! As an elder, how can you be so unreasonable? If my father is in heaven, I'm afraid he won't be able to rest in peace when he sees you bullying me like this!"
This remark struck a chord with Liu, causing her to pause. The old housekeeper seized the opportunity to stop her: "Madam, calm down! The eldest daughter is the eldest daughter of the general's mansion. How can you behave like this?"
Liu looked at the contemptuous eyes of the servants around her, and suddenly felt dizzy. She pointed at Shen Weiwan and said, "You...you wait for me!" After that, she staggered out.
Shen Weiwan looked at her back, a sneer on her lips. Chun Tao handed over the handkerchief: "Miss, you were really amazing just now!"
Shen Weiwan took the handkerchief and wiped the tears from her face: "To compete with her, you have to be more pretentious than her." She picked up the almond cake on the table, but found that it was broken. "What a pity for my dessert."
The old housekeeper sighed and said, "Miss, I'm afraid Liu Shi won't let this go."
"I know." Shen Weiwan's eyes turned cold. "Doesn't she suspect that I took the warehouse key? Then let her be suspicious." She looked at the old housekeeper. "How is the key arrangement going?"
"Everything has been placed in Liu's makeup box, just as you instructed," the old butler whispered. "They'll be 'discovered' at your command."
"No rush." Shen Weiwan stood up. "Let her first experience the feeling of being deserted by everyone." She walked to the window and looked in the direction of Xiefang Courtyard. "Chuntao, go get me that box of nettles."
Chun Tao was stunned for a moment: "Miss, what do you want that for?"
"Of course it is useful." Shen Weiwan smiled, a sly look flashing in her eyes, "Doesn't Liu like to frame others? I'll let her taste the feeling of being wronged."
As she was speaking, a servant suddenly came to report: "Miss, the Seventh Prince has arrived and is waiting in the front hall."
Shen Weiwan raised her eyebrows: "Why is he here again?" She said this, but she was a little expectant in her heart. She straightened her clothes and said to the old housekeeper: "You go and do your work first, I'll go to the front hall to take a look."
In the front hall, Xiao Yu was playing with the folding fan in his hand. When he saw Shen Weiwan come in, a smile appeared on the corner of his mouth: "Miss Shen doesn't seem happy today?"
Shen Weiwan bowed and said, "I'm sorry to have laughed at you, Your Highness. I was misunderstood by my aunt just now, and I feel a little aggrieved."
