Chapter 109 Lan Zhi wakes up

Lan Zhi made up an excuse casually, "It's nothing, it's just that the roof is leaking... Uncle Wang, can you fix the roof?"

"No, but you can try." Hunter Wang rolled up his sleeves. He felt very sympathetic towards the poor brother and sister. We were all neighbors and should help each other.

Hunter Wang stood in front of the door and found that the rain outside had stopped at some point. He brought a ladder, went to Zhu Tong's house, climbed onto the roof, and saw that there were gaps in several crossbeams.

Hunter Wang came down from the ladder, went to his woodshed, and got a few pieces of wood and some straw. He climbed up the ladder again, filling in the gaps as best he could, and then covered them with thick straw. He came down the ladder, clapped his hands, and said, "It shouldn't leak anymore."

Lan Zhi said, "Thank you, Uncle Wang."

"You're welcome." Hunter Wang had a smile on his face.

Lan Zhi helped him move the ladder back, then went home alone. After a while, Zhu Tong came back with a wooden bowl in her hand with a little sugar residue in it.

"Tian Miao, I brought you some candy!" Zhu Tong was wet all over. She was wearing straw sandals covered in mud, but she had a bright smile on her face.

Lan Zhi came forward and said, "Sister."

"Look." Zhu Tong showed Lan Zhi the sugar residue at the bottom of the bowl as if she were presenting a treasure. Her emerald green pupils were filled with tiny glints of light, like the sky washed by rain, bright and clear. Zhu Tong licked her lips and said, "This candy must be very sweet."

Lan Zhi saw Zhu Tong's muddy straw sandals, then looked up at the pure smile on her face. For a moment, she felt complicated and nodded, "Yes, it must be sweet."

Zhu Tong boiled some water and poured a little into the bowl. She stirred the sugar residue with chopsticks. She gently took a sip of the chopsticks, and a faint sweetness filled her mouth. Zhu Tong smiled, her eyes curved into beautiful crescents. She sucked the sugar water on the chopsticks, then handed the bowl to Lan Zhi and said, "Here, Tian Miao, drink it while it's hot. I didn't pour too much water because I was afraid that too much water would dilute the sweetness."
