Chapter 242 Transfer of Ownership

"Seriously, bro? You're really this stingy?"

Yang Fan didn't know whether to be angry or laugh. He withdrew his hand, not minding that it was too little, and put the crumb of pastry into his mouth.

"You're the one who's too lazy to eat, and I have to put up with you?"

Yang Fan said, "Isn't it the weekend? I'm going to lie in bed for a bit. How about we have dinner together tonight?"

"OK."

"Okay? You're not eating with your wife? That's really strange."

Shen Heng frowned, determined not to let anyone feel that his wife didn't like him: "It's because her roommate insisted on eating with her, and she's just easygoing, feeling embarrassed to refuse someone from the same dorm. Otherwise, would she have been willing to not eat with me?"

Yang Fan laughed when he heard this: "Alright, alright, then you're lucky tonight."

"......"

"How did your house hunting go today? Did you find anything you liked?"

"It's just like that, mainly because it's convenient for going to and from school," Shen Heng said.

"So it's settled then?"

"Um."

"Sure," Yang Fan sighed, deeply feeling the gap between people.

They were all in the same dorm, and about the same age. Some of them had married and built houses, while he was still single.

"Since you've already bought a house here, what about your household registration? Will you transfer it here?"

They will transfer their household registration when they come to university, but it's only temporary.

Yang Fan knew that Shen Heng had a rural household registration, and now everyone was scrambling to get into the city, so Yang Fan's question was perfectly normal.

Shen Heng said, "I don't know, let's wait and see."

"Are you going to take a look and decide, or do you need to go back and discuss it with your superiors?" Yang Fan hit the bullseye immediately.

“…” Shen Heng frowned. “People like you deserve to starve to death.”

Yang Fan was overjoyed. He rolled off the bed and said, "Isn't this normal? My dad is often scolded like a grandson by my mom at home too."

"My wife isn't like that."

"Enough talk, come with me to the cafeteria for lunch. I'm starving, I won't have the energy to study tonight."

"Go by yourself, I have something to eat." Shen Heng waved the oil paper package in his hand.

"It's just some wife cakes, right? It's not like anyone can't afford them!" Yang Fan said sourly, but he absolutely couldn't let Shen Heng feel good about it!

On Sunday, Bai Jiaojiao, Xu Yue, and the other two originally planned to go to the library to study, but Chen Meizhen 'specially' came back to inform them that in order to promote camaraderie among classmates, a book sharing session would be held today, and they should hurry over after breakfast.

Seeing Xu Yue's surprised expression, Chen Meizhen sneered, "Xu Yue, wasn't this something our class committee decided at the last meeting? You didn't forget to inform everyone, did you?"

All eyes turned to Xu Yue, who blushed and looked at Bai Jiaojiao: "Look at my stupid brain, I forgot."

The first week of classes and the novelty of university life made Xu Yue forget about the matter long ago.

Fortunately, no one had any plans for today, so everyone quickly packed up, went to the cafeteria to buy two steamed buns, ate them hastily, and went to attend the book club.

This weekend, there really wasn't much time for studying.

On Monday, they arranged to meet with Sister Gao to complete the transfer procedures. Shen Heng first went to the credit union to withdraw the money, and then the money and goods were exchanged on the spot at the housing management bureau.

Both parties left the housing management bureau with smiles, then quickly ran away, fearing that the other party would take back the money/house.

Shen Heng, holding the key, said to Bai Jiaojiao, "We need to change this key quickly. If you have class this afternoon, I'll take you home first. I'll handle these things myself. When you have time, come over and we can see how we can fix this house."

"Brother Heng, thank you for your hard work."

"What nonsense are you talking about?" Shen Heng ruffled Bai Jiaojiao's hair.

"Then I won't attend evening self-study tonight. Let's come over and take a look. We can check if the light bulb is working properly. If there's a problem with the lighting, we'll replace it with a higher wattage bulb."

Bai Jiaojiao said.

"Okay, your last class is in Building 6. I'll wait for you at the entrance. We'll come over after we finish eating."

"Second Teaching Building".

Due to current economic policies, Shen Heng's business school courses are not very demanding. Although Bai Jiaojiao knows that domestic policies will change or even overturn their chosen field of study next year, Shen Heng is currently a freshman and cannot learn anything at that depth yet.

In short, compared to Bai Jiaojiao, who had almost a full schedule of classes since her freshman year, Shen Heng's coursework was quite easy.

Shen Heng sent Bai Jiaojiao back to school and went to find a place to change the lock cylinder himself.

Now that he has the house, Chen Heng has a lot more to look forward to. After changing the lock cylinder, he will clean up the bedroom and move in. He can then slowly furnish and decorate the rest. Furnishings are always built up little by little.

Shen Heng went inside, opened all the windows to ventilate the room, and then took out and threw away all the clutter inside.

The valuables in the house had long been taken away, leaving only a cabinet with a broken leg and a chair that had been sat on so many times it was rounded.

These two items looked quite old, so Shen Heng waved his hand and threw them both into the storage room. He planned to buy an axe and chop them up to use as firewood for heating the kang (a heated brick bed) when he had time.

Shen Heng also tore off the mat on the kang and replaced it with the new one he bought when he bought the lock. He then wiped the bedroom inside and out with a rag, getting several basins of dirty water dirty in the process. No matter how clean the old man was, there were still some nooks and crannies that he couldn't clean.

Shen Heng didn't want Bai Jiaojiao to be bothered by the mess of dirt around the place, so he cleaned it up very carefully. His hands were constantly soaked in cold water and started to wrinkle.

He cleaned the master bedroom and main hall thoroughly before stopping. He then pulled down the curtains that had been covered in dust for half a year, so that Bai Jiaojiao could pick out some that suited her taste when she had time.

After finishing everything, I went back to school to pick up Bai Jiaojiao for dinner.

Chen Heng wasn't tired at all; he wished he could clean everything tonight so he could move in tomorrow.

Bai Jiaojiao was led inside by Shen Heng. After discovering that the bedroom and main hall had been completely renovated, she was so moved that she hugged Shen Heng's arm and shook it, blinking her eyes. This made Shen Heng want to take her right there and then: "Alright, look at how well you've arranged this bedroom. There used to be a kang cabinet here, we can have someone make one to store some clothes for changing. We can also make a big wardrobe and put it in the next room. You can store as many clothes as you want."

Shen Heng quickly changed the subject, afraid that he would lose control.

"Okay, I'll do whatever you say for this big item."

"Then let's add another table and four chairs to the main hall. This main hall is quite large, and we can put a sofa on each side."

Shen Heng had seen quite a lot in the department store, and he pointed to the two paths on either side of the entrance.

As Shen Heng described it, Bai Jiaojiao envisioned a bright and cozy home.

"All is well."
