Chapter 352 Assigning Work

Yang Changping had his own car for transportation, so he instructed Yang Fenglin to take good care of his sister and brother-in-law and send them back home.

Before leaving, he said, "Shiqing, come over for a simple meal tonight. Ever since you wrote that you wanted to come, your grandfather has been talking about you."

"Okay, Uncle, we'll get ready this afternoon and visit you tonight."

When everyone returned to Bai Jiaojiao's house, the smell had already dissipated.

"Sister, I have to go back to the army too. We have something to do this afternoon. I'll come pick you up tonight to take you to Grandpa's house."

Yang Fenglin didn't get out of the car; he simply said goodbye.

As soon as Bai Shiqing entered the courtyard, she couldn't help but exclaim, "You really bought a great courtyard. It's spacious and the two side rooms are also large. You won't have to worry about having a place to live after you have children."

Bai Jiaojiao replied, "This courtyard is indeed a bit wider than the others in the same alley. Second sister, brother-in-law, please come in. The room next door has been tidied up for you."

Both rooms facing south are bedrooms, but Bai Jiaojiao and Shen Heng usually only use the one on the east side. The west room is practically a storage room. Now that there are many rats, they dare not put the food in the kitchen, so they store it here.

Although the windows had been open for ventilation for several days, you could still smell the grain as soon as you went in.

"I'm so sorry to have troubled you and your brother-in-law," Li Shuxian said apologetically.

"Brother-in-law, what are you saying? I'm my sister's only sister. If you come to Yancheng, who else would you look for but me? Do you expect me to let you stay in a guesthouse?"

Bai Shiqing also said, "Just remember how good our little sister is to you. We'll be living in Yancheng from now on, so why worry about not having opportunities to visit each other?"

"Alright, sister and brother-in-law, you two go ahead and get ready. Just call me if you need any help."

"Hey, go take a break, you can't even have a moment of peace every day."

Bai Shiqing brought her own bed sheets. She was too embarrassed to use other people's personal items, so she put her own sheet on top of the bedding that Bai Jiaojiao had prepared for them.

Li Shuxian then laid out some everyday items from his luggage, and the two began to pack them.

Shen Heng went to Meng Hongmei's house to pick up Bai Doudou and gave her to Bai Jiaojiao: "Here, your precious little one. Your sister is here too, shouldn't you let her see her little sister?"

Bai Jiaojiao glared at Chen Heng, and Bai Shiqing, who was in the other room, came over after hearing the noise: "What little sister?"

She saw Bai Doudou, who was sitting upright with its paws on Bai Jiaojiao's legs, and couldn't help but laugh and cry: "How did this dog get raised like this?"

It's chubby and looks like a hairy little pig.

"Sister, this dog is this breed. It's different from the usual mongrel. Look at its paws, they're all round."

Bai Jiaojiao firmly explained that Bai Doudou wasn't fat, she just had a large frame.

"It's too round. Look at those two small eyes, they're squeezed out of the flesh on the face."

Bai Doudou:......

Bai Shiqing's words made Bai Doudou's round, dark eyes look pitiful.

Bai Jiaojiao covered Bai Doudou's ears: "This breed just doesn't have big eyes."

Bai Doudou: Thank you, but I wasn't comforted.

Few people in Shili Village keep dogs, and the few stray dogs that roam the village are notorious for their misdeeds; nobody can bring themselves to like them.

Bai Shiqing saw the dog being kept as a pet and quite liked it, so she squatted down and started playing with it.

"You're pregnant and you're still keeping this thing? It's very dirty. Be careful with the baby."

"It's alright, sis. DouDou is perfectly fine. I know what I study, so don't worry about me."

Bai Shiqing thought about it and agreed, so she didn't say anything more.

Her principle in life is that it's not terrible to be uncultured; what's terrible is to be uncultured yet still point fingers at others.

Bai Shiqing just felt that this white bean was really cute and liked people. After playing with it for a while, it started to stay close to Bai Shiqing's feet.

The afternoon passed quickly, and Yang Fenglin drove over again around 5 p.m. They were worried about Bai Jiaojiao being too crowded, so they let her sit in the passenger seat, and the three of them squeezed together in the back.

Bai Shiqing and Li Shuxian brought some seafood from Shili Village, including dried sea cucumbers, dried kelp, and dried shrimp. In the eyes of the Yang family, these were not particularly valuable, but the sentiment was what mattered.

When Bai Jiaojiao came for the first time, Grandpa Yang personally came out to greet her. Today, when Bai Shiqing came, Grandpa Yang also came out with Yang Changping and Du Ying as soon as he heard the car stop outside.

"Grandpa." Bai Shiqing looked at the elderly man with a sense of disbelief.

I had seen his photos in newspapers and brochures before, but now Yang Fu is much older. As an elder waiting for his children to return, he has lost the spiritedness in the photos and gained more kindness.

"You must be Shi Qing, right? You look just like your mother!"

Grandpa Yang was the first person to say that Bai Shiqing resembled her mother, which surprised Bai Shiqing. However, she immediately thought that for Yang Fu, even if she had only a slight resemblance to her mother, it would be magnified ten thousand times in Yang Fu's eyes.

The Yang family warmly welcomed everyone into their home, where Du Ying had already prepared a large table of dishes.

"Shiqing, hurry up and tell your grandpa about your mom's time as a teacher at your village primary school."

Yang Changping spent some time with Bai Shiqing at the police station today, but didn't have a chance to ask her anything.

I finished work in a hurry and went home early today, just waiting for Bai Shiqing to continue the story.

Bai Shiqing knew a little more about her mother than Bai Jiaojiao. Although she was just old enough to remember things at that time, she had heard many stories about her mother from her father and brother since she was a child.
